A Leprechaun St. Patrick's Day Tablescape

March 05, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Time for one more St. Patrick’s Day tablescape. I found this tablecloth last year on Amazon. Black is not really a St. Patrick’s Day color but the kelly green and black combination is striking so I bought it. I used it on a tablescape last year too. You can see that tablescape here.

I found these small green melamine shamrock plates on Wayfair last year but I didn’t have a chance to use them then. I like the simple shamrock design. They are really the size of an appetizer or tidbit plate rather than a salad plate. They don’t have a maker mark on the back but I think I saw them recently on Amazon made by UPware.

Trenblay Black Salad Plate

I bought these black melamine salad plates online at Home Depot last summer. They were part of their Home Decorator Collection and they were made by Trenblay. An unusual plate design that is appearing more often now.

Fiesta Shamrock Dinner Plate

The salad plate is sitting on a Fiesta dinner plate in the color Shamrock. If you read my blog you have seen Fiesta plates in various colors and sizes on my tablescapes many times. I have had these plates for several years. I bought them at Fiesta online I think. This color has been discontinued but you can still find some dishes in this color online. I love kelly green and this is one of my favorite green dinner plates. I use them often in the Spring and at Christmas time. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

Starburst Charge It Jay Charger

This black glass Starburst charger is called Charge It and it was made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. A black charger is a good starter charger plate if you are thinking about starting a tablescaping hobby. I also bought some chargers at the Dollar Store and spray-painted them black because I wanted a simple black charger design. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers, please click here.

This bright green placemat probably came from Pier 1 several years ago before our store closed. I have several of these placemats in several different colors. This bright green color is one of my favorites. If you read my blog you saw it on last week’s St. Patrick’s Day tablescape.

This flatware is called Madeline Green and I bought it at World Market several years ago. If you google frosted flatware and add the color you are looking for you will find similar sets. I use this green flatware often in the Spring and the Fall. You can see it here on a Fall Pumpkin tablescape. If you read my blog you saw this flatware on last week’s St. Patrick’s Day tablescape. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I wanted leprechaun napkin rings for this tablescape so I googled leprechaun napkin ring and I found these metal enamel leprechaun napkin rings on Amazon last month. They have a cute design, I like happy faces. These black cotton napkins came from Crate and Barrel two years ago. I have some black napkins but I wanted some that hadn’t faded out. They are a really nice cotton fabric. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I knew that I wanted a leprechaun themed place card holder and I figured that I wouldn’t be able to find one so I looked on Etsy for leprechauns to see if there was anything I could use as a place card holder. I found this wood leprechaun and I love the design. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

He has such a cute attitude! I love his shoes!

I love this goblet combination! If you read my blog you saw it on last week’s tablescape too. The green goblet on the left came from Macy’s two years ago. The name is Qualia Glass Meridian. I like the height and the beautiful green color. I bought the green goblet on the right at Pier 1 several years ago before our store closed. These goblets are a good match for each other. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

Johanna Parker Leprechaun Canister

I have a thing for Johanna Parker holiday designs and when I saw this cute leprechaun canister on Ebay last month I knew I had to buy it. It was part of her Carnival Cottage St. Patrick’s Day collection. To add more height, I set it on a small black glass cake stand that I have. I think I found the cake stand at HomeGoods several years ago.

Johanna Parker Carnival Cottage St. Patrick’s Cream and Sugar

This creamer and sugar set is also from Johanna Parker’s Carnival Cottage St. Patrick’s Day collection. I found the set on Mercari last month. I have a weakness for holiday designs on serving pieces!

This cute leprechaun salt and pepper set came from Amazon last month. It was made by Collections, Etc.

I do like the combination of black and green on this St. Patrick’s Day tablescape. It really catches my eye!

A St. Patrick's Day Tablescape

February 26, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I found this green shamrocks tablecloth at HomeGoods last month. It’s a bit busy but I knew I could tone it down with solid colors.

I used these shamrock plates on a tablescape five years ago but I wasn’t blogging then so I decided to try to use them again. I am not sure where I found them and they aren’t labeled. They are deep enough that they could be used for soup or stew also.

This green dinner plate was called Fun Factory and it was made by Waechtersbach, the color was Green Apple. I have had them for several years and I can’t remember where I bought them. Matching all the greens on this table setting was a bit of a challenge. I tried three other dinner plates of various green shades before I settled on this one. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

This white charger is one of the first charger sets I bought when I started tablescaping. The pattern is Antique Beaded and I bought them at Williams Sonoma several years ago. I use this charger constantly on my table settings. If you look back through my blog at my tablescapes, you will see it often. A simple white charger is a great first purchase if you want to create more interest in your table settings. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers, please click here.

This bright green placemat probably came from Pier 1 several years ago before our store closed. I have several of these in several different colors. This bright green color is one of my favorites.

This flatware is called Madeline Green and I bought it at World Market several years ago. If you google frosted flatware and add the color you are looking for you will find similar sets. I use this green flatware often in the Spring and the Fall. You can see it here on a Fall Pumpkin tablescape. If you read my blog you saw this flatware on last week’s Daffodil tablescape. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I realized that I didn’t have a dark green napkin so I found these last month at World Market online. I have bought several napkin sets from them over the years. The color is Eden Green I think. The green and white shamrock napkin rings came from Ebay last month. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I found these green shamrock Temp-tations place card holders at QVC online a year ago. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

The centerpiece for this table went through a change. My sister-in-law was here while I was creating this tablescape and it was great to bounce ideas off of her. We had a good time, two heads are better than one! After talking with her I changed out the centerpiece for this tablescape and the other centerpiece will be on next week’s tablescape. Two years ago I googled large shamrock and I found this wood one on Etsy. I actually bought three and Hubby glued them together so they would be thicker and he made a stand for them. The shamrock came unfinished and Hubby first painted it gold for me for one tablescape and then last year I decided I wanted green to match a St. Patrick’s Day tablescape that I did so he painted it green. When you are out and about looking for tablescaping items keep in mind that you can usually paint anything a different color if necessary. I wanted a bit more height so I set it on an upside-down Circle Depression Glass small bowl.

I added a salt and pepper set of green Depression Glass in the Circle pattern to the table. I found them on Ebay several years ago.

I bought this glass shamrock at a gift shop somewhere several years ago. I decided to add it to the table setting too.

Ready for St. Patrick’s Day.

Daffodils on a Spring Tablescape

February 19, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This is the perfect tablescape to celebrate Spring just around the corner. I found the Ambesonne Daffodil tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago. Some of my daffodils are coming up in my garden right now.

Emma Bridgewater Daffodil Salad Plate

I was looking for a salad plate that had daffodils on it and I found these. I love the colorful design with yellow daffodils and muscari (bluebells). A reader identified the blue flowers for me and I appreciate it! There is a small bug on a leaf at the bottom. I love Emma Bridgewater plates and all her dish designs, take a look. This cream colored earthenware is handmade and hand-painted in England.

Fiesta Daffodil Dinner Plate

I just love this Fiesta plate, the color is daffodil. I found them on sale in Salt Lake City at Smith’s when we were there a few years ago.

Villeroy and Boch Verona Blue Charger

This is one of my favorite glass chargers. I bought them when I first started tablescaping. They are a heavy blue glass and I love the color and the tweed like design in the glass. They are made by Villeroy and Boch and the pattern is called Verona. Not sure where I found them online. I have this charger in a few other colors as well. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers, please click here.

Frosted Green Madeline Flatware

Seems like every time I use this frosted green flatware I get questions and comments about it. It is called Madeline Green and I bought it at World Market several years ago. If you google frosted flatware and add the color you are looking for you will find similar sets. I use this green flatware often in the Spring and the Fall. You can see it here on a Fall Pumpkin tablescape. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I can’t remember where I bought these blue napkins. The clear acrylic vase napkin rings came from Amazon a few years ago. They are made by Deco-Mate. I love being able to add small flower arrangements to the napkin rings.

You can see the slot on the left for the flowers. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I really love these small white vase place card holders. They often appear on one of my Spring tablescapes. I bought them on Amazon a couple of years ago. I bought the faux flowers at Michaels. The green place cards came from Amazon. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

I joined a website a couple years ago that sends me a list of all the Estate Sales in my area every weekend with photos of what is for sale. I am always looking for tablescaping items. Hubby bought this blue glass goblet with a clear stem at an estate sale last year, I wish they had had more for sale. I love this goblet. It is a perfect blue color and I predict I will be using it often. It can be difficult to find yellow glass goblets that don’t have a gold tint to them so when I saw these yellow goblets on Etsy I immediately bought them. I love the color and the size of them. I don’t know who made them or what the pattern is called. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

I had the faux daffodils and small blue flowers already, they probably came from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby. They are in a large white pottery vase, one of a pair of identical white pottery vases that I inherited from my mother. She received them as a wedding present in 1938.

I love pairing blue and yellow together and daffodils are some of my favorite flowers!

An Outer Space Tablescape

February 11, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This unusual Outer Space tablescape would be the perfect tablescape for an evening of star gazing. Borrow a telescope and after dinner invite everyone outside to look at the heavens or watch some Space shows on television. I found the night sky tablecloth on Amazon a few months ago.

This set of melamine planet dinner plates includes eight plates; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. I only used six on this table setting and left Saturn and Mercury off. The plates are original watercolor portraits of the planets in our solar system. I bought them online at Fun.com last year. This plate is Jupiter.

Uranus

Mars

Neptune

Venus

Earth

Bormioli Rocco Inca Purple Charger

I didn’t want the chargers to compete with the planet plates so I am using my purple glass chargers because they blend in with the tablecloth. There is always a glare in the photos with glass plates, I finally gave up and left it. The purple glass chargers are Bormioli Rocco Inca in purple and I bought them on sale on Amazon several years ago. I have a few other colors of this charger, it is really nice heavy glass. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers, please click here.

Wallace Mikasa Duchess Gold Flatware

I decided to use gold as an accent color on this tablescape. It is a great complementary color for the purples and dark blues on the table. This gold plated flatware was a gift from Hubby a few Christmases ago. I had bought a cheap set of gold flatware several years ago. It was poor quality and the gold started flaking off. You get what you pay for! We found this set on major sale at Macys. It is made by Wallace and is called Mikasa Duchess Gold. It is brighter than this photo shows and it is heavy. I love the design on the handle. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I wanted purple napkins that matched the purple in the tablecloth and my purple napkins were the wrong color so I found these cotton napkins online at Amazon a few weeks ago. After a Google search a few weeks ago, I found these gold colored crescent moon and star napkin rings online at Tea and Linen. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

These gold colored star place card holders came from Amazon a few weeks ago. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

Artland Purple Goblet

These handcrafted purple bubble glass goblets were made by Artland and I bought them at HomeGoods a few years ago. The deep purple color is a perfect match for the night sky tablecloth. I found the orange and amber colored goblets at HomeGoods last year. They were not labeled. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

I borrowed my grandson’s telescope to use as a centerpiece for this Outer Space tablescape. It was serendipity that it was a dark maroon color and the color matched the mood of this table setting.

If you read my blog you know that I have a thing for themed salt and pepper sets and I often have themed salt and pepper sets on my tablescapes. I knew I wanted a space themed salt and pepper set so I looked on Amazon last week and I found this Space Alien set. It makes me laugh when I look at it.

This astronaut salt and pepper set came from Amazon as well.

This is an unusual theme for a tablescape but after creating 200 tablescapes, sometimes it’s time for something unique and different.
