Palm Trees on a Summer Tablescape

I did a palm trees themed tablescape a few years ago but I have made some changes to this one. I bought the tablecloth online at Pacific & Rose. I have been watching their tablecloths for a while and when I saw this one I remembered my palm tree plates that I was waiting to use and I knew it would work well with them. The tablecloth pattern is called Ivy Green.

Tommy Bahama Palm Tree Plates

I found these melamine palm tree salad plates and matching dinner plates at HomeGoods a few years ago. They were made by Tommy Bahama. I knew I wanted to do a palm tree tablescape design different from the previous one that I did and these plates were the perfect choice.

The green color on these plates is one of my favorite shades of green, almost a Kelly Green, and I like the strong graphics on the plates. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

Wedgwood Night and Day Charger

This porcelain white charger was made by Wedgwood and the pattern was called Night and Day. We bought them at an outlet mall several years ago. I love the bright white color and the raised design on them.

I bought this inexpensive stainless and plastic bamboo flatware set several years ago when I first started tablescaping. I can’t remember where I found it, it is just marked Stainless, China but I see similar sets are available online at several places. I like to mix and match fabrics that have similar colors but different scale and this tropical leaf napkin fabric is a good example of that. It works with the tablecloth even though it looks completely different and they both are a good match for the plates. I bought the tropical leaf napkins on Amazon a few years ago. I found the metal and beads palm tree napkin rings on Poshmark a few years ago too.

I saw these small plastic palm trees on Amazon a few years ago and I decided to use them as place card holders on this table setting.

I am using one of my matte green pottery vases that I collected many years ago as a centerpiece. It is not labeled and I am not sure if it is vintage or not. I probably bought it on Ebay. The green color is perfect for this tablescape. The faux white hibiscus flowers came from Michael’s last year. I like the tiny pop of orange color. This is a relatively simple centerpiece because the tablecloth has such a busy pattern. With a really busy tablecloth you don’t want to clutter up the table with too many things so that the eyes don’t know what to look at first.

A local art center was having a rummage sale a few years ago and there were photos online of everything that was for sale. I saw these vintage palm tree candlesticks and Hubby went and got them for me. They are cast iron and the bottom is bronze. I wish I knew their story. I have positioned them for photos so that the candle holder part doesn’t show because I didn’t want to add candles to this tablescape.

Our neighbor has really tall palm trees surrounding their pool. Palm trees are such a California icon.

Oranges on a Summer Tablescape

This tablescape has been many years in the making. I started collecting dishes with an oranges pattern on them many years ago because I was born in a town called Orange, graduated from high school there, and was later married there even though I didn’t grow up there. For years I was trying to find a certain vintage salad plate with oranges on it. I found three but I was never able to find the other three so I could do a tablescape. I finally gave up on those plates and found six of these oranges salad plates. When I saw this oranges filled tablecloth at HomeGoods a few years ago I knew that it was finally time to pull this theme together.

I found these gold rimmed oranges salad plates on Ebay and Etsy over the past several years. They are marked Hutschenreuther Selb, Bavaria, Germany, Pasco. “Pasco” is the mark of Paul A. Straub & Co. of New York City, an importer in business from 1915 to 1970. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying salad plates here.

There is an extra plate in this plate stack. I bought these Bordallo Pinheiro green dinner plates on Ebay one at a time as I saw them over a few years. They are difficult to find. They were made in Portugal and I have seen the pattern referred to as Trellis but I am not sure if that is correct.

Fiesta Square Tangerine Dinner Plate

This square dinner plate was made by Fiesta and the color is Tangerine. I bought them online from Replacements.com a few years ago for a Halloween tablescape. You can see that tablescape here. This color is now discontinued. Most of my plates are round but I have bought a few square sets from time to time when I needed them. This shade of orange was a perfect color for this tablecloth. Mikasa Color Spectrum Hunter Green Charger

This charger was made by Mikasa and it is called Color Spectrum in Hunter Green. I love this charger, it is heavy and a great color. I have several others like this one in other colors. I bought them all a few at a time on Ebay over several years.

Madeline Green Flatware

If you read my blog you will recognize this flatware set, I use it often. It is called Madeline Green flatware, and I bought it at World Market several years ago. I really like the frosted design on the handles. You can see this same frosted green flatware on a Fall tablescape that I did two years ago here. There are lots of different colored frosted flatware sets for sale right now online at various places. Just google the color you are looking for with the words frosted flatware and something will pop out. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I bought these green cotton napkins at World Market online several years ago with several other colors too. They wash and steam iron well. I found the oranges napkin rings on Etsy a few years ago. The orange color was off but Hubby saved the day by painting them to better match this tablescape.

I was looking for something with a oranges theme to use as place card holders on this table setting and I found these faux orange slices on Etsy. I had bought lemon ones for a Spring tablescape and I knew they had oranges as well. I set two of them on a Oleg Cassini clear glass square place card holder. I bought the place card holders at HomeGoods several years ago when I first started tablescaping. They are heavy and solid and I really like the simple design. The sage green acrylic goblet on the left came from our Pier 1 store before it closed a couple years ago. I think I bought the orange goblet on the right at Ross or T.J. Maxx. They were some of the first goblets I bought several years ago. I use them more than I thought I would. I think I have goblets now in all the primary colors. I used these same goblets on my Vegetables tablescape a few months ago. You can see that tablescape here. Bordallo Pinheiro Orange Bowl

I have to admit this centerpiece was a struggle and it went through a few different variations before I settled on this one. I started with a small tree of faux oranges from Joann’s but their idea of shipping is to just dump things in a box with a thin layer of plastic. When the tree arrived, it was crooked but it was the wrong scale for this table anyway so it went back. Then I decided to try a large flat green glass bowl that was a wedding present and I put faux oranges in it. The bowl was the perfect green for this table but it was too low and I couldn’t find a stand that worked well with it. While I was wandering around mumbling to myself trying to think of something else, Hubby looked in the china cabinet and found this bowl. Lol! It had been right next to the salt and pepper that are on the table but I wasn’t thinking along those lines when I pulled the salt and pepper out. Hubby saved the day! I bought the bowl on Ebay several years ago. It was made by Bordallo Pinheiro in Portugal. The faux oranges came from Hobby Lobby last week. I found the small white stand at HomeGoods a few years ago. I actually really like the way this centerpiece finally turned out for this tablescape. It’s simple but a good match for everything else on the table.

I often add something to both sides of a centerpiece just for added interest. Because this tablecloth is so busy, I wanted something simple. I have had this orange candle holder for several years now. It came from Yankee Candle.

This oranges salt and pepper set probably came from Ebay several years ago. They aren’t marked.

This tablescape is special, memories of the place where I was born, graduated high school, and married.

Farm Animals on A Summer Tablescape

I have been thinking about this tablescape for a long time. It finally all came together this month. Sometimes it can take a long long time to gather everything together to illustrate a particular theme. I found the black and white buffalo check tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago. It is nice heavy cotton and it is really easy to iron with a steam iron.

I looked for a long time for farm themed salad plates that I liked before I found these farm animal salad plates. I found a few on Etsy and a few on Ebay. I found four different designs, a cow, a sheep, a chicken, and a pig. The back says, “Designed Exclusively for Cracker Barrel Old Country Store by Susan Winget”.

This simple white dinner plate was made by Ralph Lauren and it was called Club Porcelain. I used the same plate on my Ants Tablescape last week. You can see that tablescape here. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. I really like having a simple white dinner plate in my tablescaping collection. I used these black chargers on my Ants Tablescape last week also. These black glass Starburst chargers are called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. I use them frequently on Halloween tablescapes. You can see them on one of my Halloween Tablescapes here. I used this black flatware set on my Ants Tablescape last week too, it just happened that way. The set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years and it came from Overstock.com. I bought these wonderful farm animal napkins on Etsy from ME2Designs. Meg has made several different napkin sets for me over the years and I love her work. I tell her the theme that I am working on and she sends me photos of different fabrics and I choose what I want and she makes them for me. These napkins are absolutely perfect for this tablescape. I found the Holstein cow napkin rings on Ebay a couple months ago and they were perfect because I wanted to match the Holstein cow salad plate. I think they are so cute!

These hen and baby chick napkin rings were made by Fitz and Floyd between 2006 and 2015 and the pattern was called Ricamo. I just love all the different colors on this napkin ring. I found them on Ebay a couple months ago.

I found these Lipco sheep napkin rings on Ebay a couple months ago too.

I wanted pink pig napkin rings to matche the pink pig salad plates and I found these Kemp and Beatley pig napkin rings on Ebay too a couple months ago.

I looked for quite a while before I found these black farm animal place card holders. I found them on the bonanza online shop. They were very inexpensive but unfortunately the seller just tossed them all in a box and shipped them to me and when I got them they were in pieces. Hubby actually glued them all back together and spray-painted them black for me. I set them on a white metal napkin ring that I have had for a long time.

The goblet on the left with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a couple years ago. The twisted black stem goblet on the right was made by Luminarc. Hubby found them at Goodwill several months ago.

I saw a metal windmill at Michael’s last year and I almost bought it but I didn’t like the color or the design. I was in Michael’s this spring and they had a couple of different ones including this one and it was on sale. It was a rusty brown color but I knew Hubby could spray-paint it for me so I bought it for this tablescape. I added a pig salt and pepper set to the base to break up the black a bit that probably came from Amazon a few years ago.

I added this cute little sheep salt and pepper set to the table too, probably from Amazon as well.

I found this cow butter dish on Ebay several years ago. I think I also have it in a round design. It is labeled Buttercup for Shafford by B.S.J. 1979. I have hung onto it for years just waiting to use it! I love the expression on her face.

This tablescape makes me smile.

Ants on a Summer Tablescape

I did this Ants tablescape three years ago but I wanted better photos of it and I made changes to the plate stack for this version. I am not sure where I found the red buffalo print tablecloth but it is one of my favorites, heavy cotton, and a great color, a true red. I have had it for a few years.

These salad plates are labeled Boston Warehouse Trading Corp, copyright 2008. I really love the ants crawling on them. I bought them at Pier 1 several years ago.

I added an extra plate to this plate stack so the colors would match as I wanted them to match. This small black appetizer ot tidbit plate is unmarked but I probably bought it at HomeGoods several years ago. It is similar to a small black Fiesta plate.

This red salad plate is made by Fiesta and the color is Scarlet. It is part of our everyday dishes set. We bought them a few years ago at Macy’s when we remodeled the kitchen.

I had someone on Etsy make the Ants napkins a few years ago. I really love that print! Can’t remember where I bought the black metal basket napkin rings. I have had them for several years.

I bought these ant place card holders at Pottery Barn several years ago. They were red but Hubby spray painted them black to match these plates and napkins. They are one of my favorite place card holders. I have similar place card holders that are black widow spiders.

Lenox Midnight Mood Black Goblet

I just love these red plastic cup goblets. I was telling my kids about them and they gave me a set as a gift a few years ago. They were made by Red Cup Living in 2013. I bought these black goblets on Ebay and they were one of the first sets that I bought several years ago. They are Lenox Midnight Mood black glass water goblets and they were made between 1974 and 1982. They are 7 1/4 inches tall. When I started buying goblets I didn’t pay attention to the height but now I like to buy goblets that are at least about 8 inches tall because my table is large and I think they show better. You can still find them on Ebay from time to time. I have had this red basket for several years. It usually sits on a baker’s rack that is on the wall next to the kitchen. I found the plastic ants on Etsy a few years ago after looking for the right size for a while. I bought some more a few weeks ago.
