Skulls on a Halloween Tablescape

October 06, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I did a Skulls themed tablescape several years ago for Halloween but I have made some changes to it for this Skulls Tablescape. The simple white cotton tablecloth was probably from HomeGoods or Amazon. I have had it for several years. I had a friend staying with me who is really creative and she helped me with this tablescape.

This small appetizer or tidbit skull plate came in a set of four different designs. I found them on Ebay several years ago. They were made by 222 Fifth (PTS). I only have a few square plates in my tablescaping collection.

I bought these small square black glass plates somewhere while we were on vacation several years ago but I can’t remember where. They were made by Luminarc France. They were really cheap so I bought white ones as well.

I bought this square glass plate with a black lace design online somewhere several ago but I can’t remember where it came from either. It was the perfect design for this tablescape.

2021.10.02f.jpg

This large beaded square white plate was made by 10 Strawberry Street. A large square plate like this is a great starter plate if you want to begin to do tablescaping and you want square plates. You can use it as a charger or a dinner plate. I have large square plates in black and brown also. I wanted to have a few square plates in basic colors in my collection of dishes. I can’t remember where I bought it several years ago but it was probably HomeGoods. They always have a large collection of different white dishes for sale.

This plastic houndstooth patterned square placemat came from Bed, Bath & Beyond several years ago.

This black flatware set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years and it came from Overstock.com. It is still for sale online at a few places. Looks like it might be used on every Halloween tablescape that I do this month!

2021.10.02h.jpg

The silver skull ceramic napkin rings came from DII and I bought them on Amazon. The polyester skull napkins were made by ZzWwR and I bought them on Amazon also.

The silver colored skull and crossbones place card holders came from Grandin Road online a few years ago. Their Halloween catalog and collections are amazing every year! I bought the purple place cards on Amazon a few months ago.

2021.10.02j.jpg

I bought the tall black glass goblet on sale at Z Gallerie several years ago. They are the tallest goblets I have in my goblet collection. I found the purple goblets at HomeGoods a few years ago. I was able to get six at one store and six at another store. I am not sure who made them.

2021.10.02m.jpg

This large skull centerpiece came from T.J. Maxx several years ago. He is sitting on a black stand that I bought online at Grandin Road several years ago.

2021.10.02r.jpg

I bought the tall black pillar candle holders online at Grandin Road several years ago. The skull candles came from Etsy a few years ago.

2021.10.02k.jpg

I found the small silver skull salt and pepper set at HomeGoods a few years ago.

2021.10.02l.jpg

I found the larger silver skulls with open mouths at HomeGoods also a few years ago. I am not sure what they were supposed to hold.

Stripes and Polka Dots on a Halloween Tablescape

September 29, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This Halloween tablescape might become a favorite. I love all the different black and white and orange stripes and polka dot patterns. The tablecloth was made by Cynthia Rowley and the label says Curious. I found it at HomeGoods a few years ago. I bought the matching napkins too but I decided to use black napkins on this table for contrast.

2021.09.29a.jpg

These orange polka dot salad plates were made by Maxwell Williams and the pattern was called Sprinkle. I have had them for several years and I can’t remember where I found them. I really love these plates, they look so cheerful. I wanted to add something more and I remembered that I had small black and white pumpkins so I added one to each place setting. They could be a party favor. I can’t remember where I bought them a few years ago but it might have been Target.

2021.09.29b.jpg

These black and white checked stoneware dinner plates are another favorite of mine. They were made by Royal Stafford, and the label says Painterly Affects, Chequers. They were made in England. I bought them a few at a time as I found them on Ebay several years ago. I bought the salad plates too.

2021.09.29c.jpg

These black glass Starburst chargers are called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. If you read my blog you saw them on my Halloween Ghost Tablescape. If you compare these two tablescapes you can see how I reuse some of the same items on different themed tablescapes.

2021.09.29d.jpg

I think I bought the black polyester napkins on Amazon several years ago. The only thing I don’t like about polyester napkins is the fact that they are really slippery when stored stacked on top of each other. Cotton works much better. I found the black and white polka dot napkin rings on Ebay a few years ago.

2021.09.29e.jpg

The black flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had it for years but it is still for sale. Not sure where I bought it. I have it in a few other colors as well. It is often in use on my tablescapes at Halloween time.

2021.09.29f.jpg

I found these small black metal place card holders online at CB2. They work as stand alone place card holders and also as stands for other place card holders and small items. I have used them as both.

2021.09.29o.jpg
2021.09.29g.jpg

The orange goblet on the left was one of the first goblets I bought many years ago, I think I bought them at Ross or T.J. Maxx. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I sure do this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this design in bright colors. The goblet on the right with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and it is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a couple of years ago.

2021.09.29l.jpg

The black and white striped pumpkin centerpiece came from Grandin Road online a few years ago. The stem was gold but Hubby painted it black for me. I have several pumpkins like this with different patterns in black and white and black and orange and they all came from Grandin Road. The pumpkin is sitting on a wood stand that I bought at Pier 1 last year. It was a natural wood color but Hubby painted it white for me to use on a Beach tablescape and then black for a couple of Halloween tables last year.

2021.09.29n.jpg
2021.09.29j.jpg

I found the two striped covered pumpkin bowls at HomeGoods a few years ago. They were made by 10 Strawberry Street and the labels say Whimsical Cupboard.

Ghosts on a Halloween Tablescape

September 22, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

As soon as I saw this large ghost a few years ago I knew it would be one of my Halloween tablescape themes this year. I bought the orange tablecloth several years ago and it was probably from HomeGoods. It is a nice heavy cotton and I love that it is a true orange color. So often I find primary colors that have been changed to a different shade or tone. I love this traditional strong orange color, especially at Halloween time.

2021.09.01a.jpg

I was looking for a ghost salad plate but I found these ghost bowls at Pottery Barn a few years ago. They are a nice deep heavy ceramic and I like the shape and the face. They would be great for chili or soup.

2021.09.01b.jpg

These black plates are smaller than most of the salad plates that I have used recently on my tablescapes. They are called tidbit plates or appetizer plates. These plates were made by 10 Strawberry Street and the pattern was called Classic Black Porcelain. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. If you read my blog you saw them recently on my Schoolhouse Tablescape.

2021.09.01c.jpg

I love this orange dinner plate, the vivid orange color, the ruffles on the lip, and the heavy melamine design all make it a perfect plate for Halloween. I bought them several years ago online at Dillards.com and they were called Summer Oasis Zoie Vintage Dinner Plate.

2021.09.01d.jpg

These black glass Starburst chargers are called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes.

2021.09.01e.jpg

These black and white place mats came from our Pier 1 store before it closed a couple of years ago. I like the open weave design that shows a bit of orange too.

2021.09.01f.jpg

This black stainless flatware set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had it for years, I’m not sure where I bought it. You can still find it for sale online. It gets a lot of use this time of year.

2021.09.01g.jpg

I thought it would be easy to find ghost items for this tablescape but some of it was a challenge. I finally found these wood ghost napkin rings on Poshmark. The polyester black and white ghost napkins came from Amazon.

2021.09.01h.jpg

These cute little crocheted ghosts made me laugh when I first saw them on Etsy. I knew I could use them as place card holders. They are sitting on a black square metal place card holder that I already had. I bought the orange colored paper place cards on Amazon.

2021.09.01i.jpg

The goblet on the left with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and it is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a couple years ago. These orange goblets were some of the first goblets I bought many years ago, I think I bought them at Ross or T.J. Maxx. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I sure have this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this design in bright colors. You will probably see these goblets again this Halloween season!

2021.09.01j.jpg

I was browsing Mercari last year when I found this large ghost and I just love it. It was a dirty cream color but Hubby painted it white for me. It is ceramic and heavy! I love the expression and the folds are perfect.

It wouldn’t be Halloween without a few ghosts here and there!

Four Halloween Tablescape Ideas

September 15, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Time to share a few Halloween tablescape ideas with you. These are all from last year and the previous year so if you read my blog, you have seen them before. I have five or six new Halloween tablescapes coming in the next few weeks so stay tuned!

2020.10.07.jpg

Purple and black seem to be a good color combination for a witch themed tablescape. I actually did this tablescape three years ago and then repeated it last year because I wanted better photos of it.

2020.10.07a.jpg

The two flying witch centerpieces came from Pier 1 a few years ago. They were a distressed black and I am not a fan of distressed wood so Hubby spray painted them for me, I love the finish now. I got the napkins on Etsy as well as the witch napkin rings. For more information about this tablescape please click here.

2020.10.14.jpg

Nothing says Halloween better than the colors black and orange and I love them on this table setting. A true orange is sometimes hard to find, I got lucky with this tablescape. The combination of busy black prints and solid orange works well together.

2020.10.14a.jpg

This plate stack is one of my favorites. I love how the different plate designs work with each other. It is difficult for me to pass up Halloween themed plates! For more information about this Halloween tablescape please click here.

As a retired librarian, when I saw this reading witch sitting on a toadstool library at HomeGoods a few years ago I knew it had to come home with me. I love the book return! I decided to do a Halloween reading witch and spells theme and I found the perfect tablecloth on Amazon last year.

I bought this book shaped plate in three different sizes several years ago online from Webstaurantstore.com when I was still working. They still have them for sale but unfortunately you have to buy a case of the plates because the web site is a restaurant supply store. I bought them anyway because I felt a librarian who does tablescaping should have these plates! Maybe you can find a few friends to go in with you and buy some. They would be perfect for a book club meeting! I love the small black houses that are place card holders. I bought them on Ebay a few years ago. For more information about this tablescape please click here.

2020.10.13p.jpg

This is probably one of the most popular Halloween tablescapes that I have ever done and even though I did it last year it continues to get many many likes and comments. The different pumpkin centerpieces are really eye-catching with their bold black and orange designs. I bought them at Grandin Road online a few years ago. They are a perfect combination with the black and orange buffalo check tablecloth I found at Bed, Bath & Beyond online last year.

2020.10.13p (2).jpg

I bought this jack o’ lantern salad plate at Pottery Barn a couple years ago. I had been looking for a simple jack o’ lantern plate for a couple of years and I was so happy to find this one. If you are a tablescaper I definitely think you need a set of jack o’ lantern plates. I pull them out every Halloween and use them in some way. For more information about this tablescape please click here.
