Another Crabby Tablescape

August 12, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

My mind has moved on to thinking about Fall and Winter tablescapes but I had this crazy Ambesonne Crab tablecloth and I decided to do one more tablescape for Summer before I moved on to something else. I found the tablecloth on Amazon earlier this year. I thought the crabs were red but when the tablecloth arrived, they were more orange than red. Computer monitors often show colors inaccurately. I had to make some changes to my original design. I put together another Crab Tablescape last year and another one the year before that but this one is a bit different. As often happens with my tablescapes, the design changed in mid-stream. I had collected six large white crab bowls to use on this tablescape but I couldn’t pull the look I wanted together so they will return next summer on a different tablescape.

2021.08.12a.jpg

There is no salad plate on this tablescape. This dinner plate was a Rachael Ray design, the pattern was called Rise. I bought them online somewhere but I can’t remember where. I like the true orange color and the white rim. I have had them for a few years now.

2021.08.12b.jpg

This charger is another one of my Color Spectrum chargers made by Mikasa, the color is Royal Blue. I bought them a few at a time on Ebay over several months. I have them in several colors. These are actually some of my favorite chargers. I love the strong solid colors and they are good quality.

2021.08.12c.jpg

This bright orange placemat probably came from Pier 1 several years ago. I have it in several different colors. I finally took an inventory of all my placemats so I now know what I have.

2021.08.12f.jpg

This flatware was made by Ginkgo International, the pattern is Le Prix, and the color is Persimmon. I bought the set last Fall online at the Silver Super Store although I see that Amazon has it too. I had been looking for an orange flatware set to use on Halloween tablescapes for a long time and I finally found this set.

2021.08.12d.jpg

I bought the napkins at Macys online earlier this year. I found the wood crab napkin rings on Etsy last year. They were red but Hubby painted them white for me for this tablescape.

2021.08.12e.jpg

I love these crab place card holders, I found them at Pottery Barn a couple years ago but they were red. Hubby spray painted them for me so they would be more of an orange red tone.

2021.08.12g.jpg

I bought the coral acrylic goblet on the left last year at Pottery Barn. The blue acrylic one on the right came from Pier 1 a few years ago. Dollar stores often have this goblet in different colors.

2021.08.12k.jpg

This red crab salt and pepper set is such a great match for the tablecloth that I decided to add them to the table even though they are red instead or orange. I bought them on Amazon.

2021.08.12h.jpg

Several years ago I bought three small crab bowls at a garage sale. I used them in a ocean tablescape a few years ago with other ocean elements. In Virginia for Christmas a few years ago we were at an antique mall and I found six more of an almost similar design and one larger one on sale. I love the claws and the tiny face. The bottom is marked PV and Made in Czechoslovakia. The metal crab it is sitting on came from Pier 1 a few years ago. They are sitting on a white candle stand. I can’t remember where I bought it, I have had it for several years.

Four Different Tablescape Ideas for Fall

August 09, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I always consider September 1 as the start of the Fall decorating season. It is just a few weeks away so I decided to share some ideas for Fall tablescapes. These are tablescapes that I did last year and the year before.

2020.11.08o.jpg

I had these acorn bowls for a few years and had never used them on a tablescape. Last year I decided to try to pull together an Acorn tablescape for something different. I was amazed at how easy it was to find acorn items for this table and it was a popular tablescape. This tablescape could easily be used for a Thanksgiving table as well as Fall.

I love these napkins. They were the perfect design for this tablescape. The acorns on the salad and dinner plates were a perfect match as well. For more information about this tablescape please click here.

2019.09.18a.jpg

I did this Pumpkin tablescape two years ago and then did a similar one with a few changes and a tablecloth last year. Fall weather always means soup time so these pumpkin tureens would be perfect for that. I see Pottery Barn has some white pumpkin bowls this year with a matching large white pumpkin soup tureen. I have some small white pumpkin soup tureens that you might see on one of my tablescapes in November.

2019.09.18i.jpg

I have plaid napkins in all different colors and designs. They work well with so many different tablescape colors and themes. These napkins are some of my favorites and they are often in use during the Fall season. For more information about this tablescape please click here.

I don’t think that there is anything more cheerful than sunflowers and they are a perfect theme for Fall. This Sunflower tablescape seems to be saying Fall in every way. The sunflower tablecloth really sets the tone for the table, bright and showy.

2020.08.12h.jpg

I couldn’t find any sunflower napkin rings that I liked so I found some felt ones online and temporarily attached them to a brown napkin ring that I already had. Problem solved! For more information about this tablescape please click here.

2020.10.19e.jpg

Can’t get through the Fall season without at least one Fall Leaves themed tablescape. Believe it or not, I bought the bowls and plates separately at two different places and they matched exactly. Pure luck! I love when that happens!

2020.10.19f.jpg

Hubby made the centerpiece long box for me. I had found some online but they were really expensive. An easy centerpiece for Fall, just find some kind of container and fill it with leaves and/or small pumpkins and gourds and maybe a candle or two. For more information about this tablescape please click here.

Not too early to start gathering for your Fall tablescape. The stores are full of Fall right now. I saw some cute Fall tablecloths at HomeGoods today.

A Palm Trees Tropical Summer Tablescape

August 05, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I have been gathering palm tree and tropical leaf items for a while to create a tablescape but I couldn’t find salad plates that I liked until I saw these salad plates on Ebay. I have had the green tablecloth for a few years, I think I bought it at HomeGoods.

2021.07.21a.jpg

These palm tree salad plates were made by Sauvignon and the pattern was called West Indies. I found them on Ebay.

2021.07.21b.jpg

I bought these heavy melamine cream dinner plates at HomeGoods a few years ago. I also bought the same plate in a deep turquoise color. They were made by IL Mulino New York. A basic beige colored dinner plate comes in handy especially on Fall tablescapes. I often use this dinner plate because of the color and rim design.

2021.07.21c.jpg

If you read my blog you have seen my red Cambria chargers from Pottery Barn several times. They are one of my favorite chargers to use on my tablescapes. Pottery Barn is discontinuing this pattern (on clearance now) so over the past few years I added these chargers to my tablescaping collection in a few other colors including this celadon color. It is a somewhat neutral green color that goes well with several other colors and it can be used as both a charger and a dinner plate. I often use it on Spring and Fall tablescapes.

2021.07.21d.jpg

I bought these banana leaf foam placemats at Bed, Bath & Beyond online a couple months ago.

2021.07.21e.jpg

I have had this faux bamboo flatware set for several years, I can’t remember where I bought it.

2021.07.21f.jpg

I found the tropical leaf napkins on Amazon last year. They are still available. The tropical leaf napkin rings came from P. C. Fallon Co. online earlier this spring.

2021.07.21g.jpg

These tropical scene place card holders came from Etsy.

I found both of these acrylic tropical themed goblets at HomeGoods earlier this year. They really started me thinking about creating this tablescape.

I found this centerpiece at Hobby Lobby but I removed some of the leaves and added palm leaves. The container was tin and Hubby painted it green for me. I am not a fan of tin. Because this centerpiece is large it should be removed before dining so people can see each other across the table.

2021.07.21i.jpg

A local art center was having a rummage sale and there were photos online. I saw these palm tree candlesticks and Hubby went and got them for me. They are heavy metal and the bottom is bronze.

2021.07.21.jpg

California has lots of palm trees, my neighbor out the back has several tall ones around their pool.

Bathing Beauties on a Summer Tablescape

July 29, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I love the beachie colorful summer vibe of this tablescape. I found the red striped tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago.

2021.07.29a.jpg

This theme was not on my list of Summer tablescapes to do but as often happens, when I saw these small melamine appetizer plates at World Market online a a few years ago, I knew they could make a cute tablescape. There are four different designs in the set and I used three of them on this tablescape. The fourth one had turquoise stripes so I left it off because it wouldn’t have matched anything on the table.

2021.07.29b.jpg
2021.07.29d.jpg

I decided that I wanted to use a blue, red, and yellow color scheme for this tablescape. I used our everyday Fiesta salad plates, the color is scarlet.

2021.07.29e.jpg

The next plate down in the plate stack is a Fiesta dinner plate in the color Sunflower.

2021.07.29f.jpg

This bright blue metal charger came from Pier 1 several years ago.

2021.07.29g.jpg

This flatware is labeled, Made in Italy, Inox. It was made by Zaffiro and I think I bought it on sale online at Horchow several years ago. I have the set in a few other colors as well. I love the intense deep blue color.

I found the beach umbrella napkins on Etsy and the beach ball napkin rings as well. The napkin rings were custom made for me after I bought some other napkin rings and mentioned to the seller that I was looking for beach ball ones too.

2021.07.29i.jpg

I really wanted a beach ball place card holder. I finally found these small plastic beach balls at Oriental Trading online a few years ago and figured that I could use them. (You do have to blow them up.) They could be given as party favors as well. I used my colored place cards that I found on Amazon.

2021.07.29j.jpg

These cobalt blue and yellow goblets were made by Noritake and the pattern was called Perspective. They were made between 1970 and 1983 and I found them on Ebay several years ago. This pattern came in other colors, I have them in sage green also. Ebay often has this pattern for sale in various colors. It is difficult to find yellow goblets and I was glad to find these.

2021.07.29k.jpg

I had seen some female swimmer figures that I could use as a centerpiece several places online but they were really expensive. I went over to HomeGoods a few years ago and I was lucky enough to find this one. She is sitting on a blue drink dispenser stand from Pottery Barn that I bought a few years ago.
