A Tablescape Full of Pine Cones

January 08, 2020 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I have been planning a tablescape with this theme for years, just never got around to pulling it together until now. I already had all the elements, I didn’t have to buy anything new for this one. I think I bought the tablecloth at HomeGoods, I have had it for several years. This tablescape reminds me of the mountains and the pine trees of the Eastern Sierra, the area of California where I grew up. And now that the family has a cabin in that area, the pine cone connection is even more special. They signify a touch of home for me.

2020.01.08d.jpg

After we all bought the cabin I started looking for dishes for it and I found these but I decided on some other ones with a cream background and I kept these for use at home. They have been discontinued but they were made by Andrea by Sadek. I love the pine cone raised relief design.

2020.01.08g.jpg

The dinner plate has the same pine cone design only larger.

2020.01.08h.jpg

I bought these square brown charger plates at Pier 1 several years ago, they are some kind of melamine.

2020.01.08i.jpg

This flatware is labeled SR Showroom Italy. It was made by Zaffiro and I think I bought it on sale online at Horchow. The color is called Smoky and it looks like it has been discontinued. I really liked the simple design so I bought it in other colors as well. It is 18/10 stainless and a nice heavy set. The pieces are really longer in length than normal flatware. I have mentioned this before. If you are buying flatware and it isn’t 18/10 stainless always check the fork tines to make sure they have been filed enough and aren’t too sharp. Cheaper flatware often has this problem.

2020.01.08j.jpg

I found the pine cone napkin rings on Amazon. They are called Park Design Pine Lodge iron pine cone napkin rings. I bought some for the cabin as well as some for home. The brown napkins came from Dillards a few years ago.

2020.01.08k.jpg

I think I bought these metal pine cone place card holders on Ebay because I only have eight and I usually buy in sets of twelve if I am buying from a store.

2020.01.08l.jpg

The brown goblet was made by Lenox between 1966 and 1985. It was called Antique Brown. I bought them on Ebay several years ago. The green plastic goblet came from Pier 1 several years ago. If you read my blog, you have seen these goblets before a few times.

2020.01.08n.jpg

I bought these cast iron votive candle holders online somewhere. They are really really heavy.

2020.01.08b.jpg

When I started tablescaping I bought a few lanterns in different colors because I figured they would be an easy and casual centerpiece. I think this one came from Pier 1. You can find lanterns online and in stores in all different colors and shapes. Just put a candle inside and maybe some filler if you want and you’re done!

I love this table setting with its mountain and pine cone theme. Makes me want to head for our cabin!

Time for a New Year's Eve Tablesape

December 31, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Can’t let the old year pass without a new table setting! Hubby found the glass centerpiece bowl and matching glass candle holders at an estate sale a couple of years ago. They are heavy glass and I love them!

2019.12.31f (2).jpg
2019.12.31r.jpg

The camera is washing out the gold colors a bit unfortunately, they are brighter than the photos show and the tablecloth is a brighter gold. I found the tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago. I have another gold tablecloth but it has leaves on it and I wanted one with a more generic pattern that I could use.

2019.12.31q.jpg

I have had these clock plates for several years, I bought them at HomeGoods. They are labeled Arlington Designs.

2019.12.31p.jpg

This white plate is very dear to my heart. This was my grandmother’s Haviland china pattern that was passed down to my mother and then to me. We used it every Christmas when I was growing up. Haviland has a complex pattern numbering system. I think this pattern is Ranson Gold, Blank Number 1. The back says Haviland France. I have service for 16 now I think and also several serving pieces. I have added to the set over the years. This is a smaller dinner plate as they were in those days. It measures about 9 3/4” across.

2019.12.31o.jpg

This black dinner plate was called Fun Factory and was made by Waechtersbach, Germany. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. It’s a good basic black dinner plate.

2019.12.31n.jpg

The black glass Starburst charger is called Charge It and was made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes.

2019.12.31e.jpg

This gold plated flatware was a gift from Hubby a couple Christmases ago. I had bought a cheap set of gold flatware several years ago. It was poor quality and the gold started flaking off. You get what you pay for! We found this set on major sale at Macys. It is made by Wallace and is called Mikasa Duchess Gold. It is brighter than this photo shows and it is heavy. I love the design on the handle. You can really see the design in the tablecloth in this photo.

2019.12.31k.jpg

The clear fluted goblet on the right with the black stem is called Octime and the manufacturer was Luminarc Arcoroc. They were made in the 1980’s. I bought them on Ebay. I like the taller goblets, they add a stronger element to a table setting. The goblet with the V shaped black bowl on the left came from Neiman Marcus Last Call online a couple years ago. The pattern is called Classic Touch. I really liked the unique design when I saw it and they were on sale too. I love the way these two goblets compliment each other.

2019.12.31m.jpg

I think I bought the black napkins on Amazon several years ago. I can’t remember where the gold napkin rings came from. I have had them for several years.

2019.12.31l.jpg

These gold ornament place card holders are a good match for this table setting. I have had them for a few years and I don’t remember where they came from.

2019.12.31.jpg

I found these gold mercury votive candle holders on Amazon. It seems like every time I need a special candle holder or candle I can find it on Amazon and for a good price too. And it sometimes comes in one day!

2019.12.31h.jpg

I added gold bead garland and gold ornaments to the centerpiece bowl for more glitter and gold candles to the candle holders.

A Red and White Christmastime Tablescape

December 24, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I found this tablecloth on Amazon several years ago while looking at Christmas tablecloths and since I love using red this time of year I decided to develop a tablescape around it.

2019.12.24a.jpg

As soon as I saw these red snowflake salad plates on sale at Pier 1 several years ago I knew they would be perfect for a tablescape. I love the design and details on the rim and they match the snowflake design on the tablecloth.

2019.12.24c.jpg

I found the white dinner plates at HomeGoods several years ago. They were made by Fitz and Floyd and the pattern was Oakdale White. I like the rope design around the rim, it adds just a bit of interest to a simple plate. HomeGoods is a good source for inexpensive white dinner plates in lots of different patterns and styles.

2019.12.24d.jpg

This stoneware charger or dinner plate came from Pottery Barn. I love this plate, I also have it in blue. The pattern is called Cambria. It is the perfect size to be either a dinner plate or a charger plate, I love plates that have that kind of versatility.

2019.12.24e.jpg

The Milano Red flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years but it is still for sale. Not sure where I bought it. I use it several times a year on tablescapes. The simple design is perfect with this busy tablecloth.

2019.12.24f (2).jpg

The red napkins with white trees came from World Market several years ago. They are a good mix with the red trees on the white tablecloth. I have had the solid red napkins for a long time, not sure where they came from. The red and white snowflake napkin rings came from World Market several years ago also. I like bold simple designs like the snowflake on this napkin ring and it matches the tablecloth.

2019.12.24o.jpg

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets for this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. If you read my blog you have seen this goblet in many tablescapes. I think if I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. I was looking for a clear goblet that was about the same height as these red goblets and I found these clear ones at HomeGoods last year. They are also part of the Waterford Marquis series. They are a good match for each other.

2019.12.24g.jpg

My husband loves polar bears and he used to collect them. A couple of years ago I did a polar bear tablescape and I found these place card holders somewhere, I can’t remember where. I will redo that tablescape again sometime because I didn’t take clear photos of it.

2019.12.24i.jpg

I can’t remember where I bought these large ornaments, they light up. I had forgotten I had them until I unloaded a Christmas box. I figured they would be a good centerpiece for this table.

2019.12.24k.jpg
2019.12.24j.jpg

I found three of these red glass trees at HomeGoods several years ago. They are actually ornaments with a loop at the top. (They are heavy, they must be for a large tree!) I have used them already this season as decorations on the mantel and in the kitchen.

2019.12.24n.jpg

I love my Believe sign, it came from Grandin Road a few years ago. The red design works well with this table setting.
