A Red and White Christmastime Tablescape

December 24, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I found this tablecloth on Amazon several years ago while looking at Christmas tablecloths and since I love using red this time of year I decided to develop a tablescape around it.

2019.12.24a.jpg

As soon as I saw these red snowflake salad plates on sale at Pier 1 several years ago I knew they would be perfect for a tablescape. I love the design and details on the rim and they match the snowflake design on the tablecloth.

2019.12.24c.jpg

I found the white dinner plates at HomeGoods several years ago. They were made by Fitz and Floyd and the pattern was Oakdale White. I like the rope design around the rim, it adds just a bit of interest to a simple plate. HomeGoods is a good source for inexpensive white dinner plates in lots of different patterns and styles.

2019.12.24d.jpg

This stoneware charger or dinner plate came from Pottery Barn. I love this plate, I also have it in blue. The pattern is called Cambria. It is the perfect size to be either a dinner plate or a charger plate, I love plates that have that kind of versatility.

2019.12.24e.jpg

The Milano Red flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years but it is still for sale. Not sure where I bought it. I use it several times a year on tablescapes. The simple design is perfect with this busy tablecloth.

2019.12.24f (2).jpg

The red napkins with white trees came from World Market several years ago. They are a good mix with the red trees on the white tablecloth. I have had the solid red napkins for a long time, not sure where they came from. The red and white snowflake napkin rings came from World Market several years ago also. I like bold simple designs like the snowflake on this napkin ring and it matches the tablecloth.

2019.12.24o.jpg

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets for this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. If you read my blog you have seen this goblet in many tablescapes. I think if I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. I was looking for a clear goblet that was about the same height as these red goblets and I found these clear ones at HomeGoods last year. They are also part of the Waterford Marquis series. They are a good match for each other.

2019.12.24g.jpg

My husband loves polar bears and he used to collect them. A couple of years ago I did a polar bear tablescape and I found these place card holders somewhere, I can’t remember where. I will redo that tablescape again sometime because I didn’t take clear photos of it.

2019.12.24i.jpg

I can’t remember where I bought these large ornaments, they light up. I had forgotten I had them until I unloaded a Christmas box. I figured they would be a good centerpiece for this table.

2019.12.24k.jpg
2019.12.24j.jpg

I found three of these red glass trees at HomeGoods several years ago. They are actually ornaments with a loop at the top. (They are heavy, they must be for a large tree!) I have used them already this season as decorations on the mantel and in the kitchen.

2019.12.24n.jpg

I love my Believe sign, it came from Grandin Road a few years ago. The red design works well with this table setting.

A Gingerbread with the Elves Tablescape

December 18, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I had been looking for a gingerbread house cookie jar for a long time and I never could find one that I really liked that was the right size. I finally found this one online several years ago but I can’t remember where I bought it. It was made by Fitz and Floyd and it is called Coleen Christian Burke Reagan White House Christmas Gingerbread Cookie Jar (a long name!). I really love the design on this one. The tablecloth came from Sur la Table online several years ago.

2019.12.18b.jpg

Sorry for the glare! It was late in the day when I was taking the photos and I needed the light. The small gingerbread cookie plates came from Pier 1 several years ago and I have always loved them, such a cute design. The gingham dinner plate was made by At Home with Marieke. I have chargers with a larger gingham pattern and small dessert plates with a smaller gingham pattern by the same maker. It’s a really cute set. I am a sucker for red plates! These chargers were made by Mikasa and the pattern was Color Spectrum, this one in Hunter Green. I have several different colors of this charger and I really love the size, design and shape. They were all discontinued but I bought them all on Ebay a few at a time over the years.

2019.12.18c.jpg

The flatware is made by D & D Inox in Italy and the pattern is called Roma. I bought them at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale several years ago. There are similar patterns available online now. I really like the marbleized design on the handles. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

Can’t remember where I bought the Vera napkins and the candy cane napkin rings, I have had them for several years. The candy cane designs are perfect for this tablescape. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

2019.12.18e.jpg

These ornament place card holders came from Pier 1 several years ago. The design works well with lots of different patterns. To read about the what, where, and how of place card holders, please click here.

2019.12.18f.jpg

The green glass goblets come from The Vermont Country Store. They are made by Mosser in the U.S. and the pattern is Georgia. They are really heavy glass and very good quality. I have bought a few at a time over the years. I also have them in cobalt blue. I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets for this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. Hubby and I were in there and I suddenly saw a few and quickly found twelve and bought them all! I buy dishes in sets of 12 usually, there are 11 of us now when we are all together. If you read the tablescapes section on my blog you have seen this red goblet on several tablescapes. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

2019.12.18s.jpg

I truly love this row of four elves with candy on parade! I have had them for a while and I can’t remember where I bought them. The boots, the hats, the one with his hat over his eyes, I love it all!

2019.12.18t.jpg
2019.12.18h.jpg

I scattered a few garlands around the gingerbread house to add some additional depth and sparkle.

2019.12.18g.jpg

I have seen many gingerbread cookie jars over the years but this one has the best design by far.
