An Hex-cellent Witches Halloween Tablescape

There are not a lot of themes for Halloween tablescapes and I have done many of them, 27 Halloween tablescapes so far (you can see those tablescapes and 270+ other tablescapes that I have done here: https://www.whispersoftheheart.com/tablescapes) . I did a variation of this tablescape seven years ago and then another variation five years ago but I have been wanting to repeat it with some changes for a few years and I finally got it done this season. I found this Bewitched Purple Halloween tablecloth at Spoonflower online earlier this year. Spoonflower tablecloths are over-priced so I wait for a sale and even then they are expensive but they are well made with unique designs and the material is of great quality so sometimes I buy one anyway. They will definitely last more than one generation if they are taken care of properly.

Years ago I was looking for a witch salad plate and I wanted one that only had a black and white design. I finally found this witch head silhouette oval appetizer plate set on Ebay. The set was originally sold at Crate and Barrel in 2015. The plate set had four different witch head silhouette designs on the plates. i like their strong black and white designs.

This porcelain Classic Black dessert plate is by 10 Strawberry Street. I think I found them at HomeGoods several years ago. I added an extra plate to this plate stack because I wanted to alternate these particular colors on the plate stack.

I bought these plain white salad plates at HomeGoods when I started tablescaping many years ago because I knew that I would need some white plates of various sizes. The back of the plate is marked Gibson Elite bone china.

I needed a basic square black charger and I found these chargers on Amazon several years ago. They are melamine and they were made by American Atelier. If you are a tablescaper, it is a good idea to have basic plates in neutral colors that you can use over and over again. This flatware is labeled SR Showroom Italy. It was made by Zaffiro and I think I bought it on sale online at Horchow several years ago. The color is called Violet and this pattern has been discontinued. I really liked the simple design so I bought it in six other colors as well over a few years. It is 18/10 stainless and a nice heavy set. The pieces are really longer in length than normal flatware. I have mentioned this before. If you are buying flatware and it isn’t 18/10 stainless always check the fork tines to make sure they have been filed enough and aren’t too sharp. Cheaper flatware often has this problem. I found these purple polyester napkins on Amazon recently. Several years ago I saw a flying witch design on a metal napkin holder on Etsy that I liked and I asked if they could make napkin rings as well and they could. I really love the way they turned out. I bought these black house place card holders on Ebay several years ago. They were originally sold at Target and Hearth and Hand with Magnolia. I wander through HomeGoods every couple of weeks and I often find something that I want for tablescaping. I love their cheap prices! I found these purple glass goblets there earlier this year. I love the traditional purple color. The goblet with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online several years ago. These two flying witch on the moon figures came from Pier 1 several years ago. They were a distressed black and I am not a fan of distressed wood so Hubby spray painted them for me, I love their finish now. The black studded pumpkin came from Pier 1 several years ago as well. I really miss the old Pier 1, our store always had great items for tablescaping.

A Jolly Jack-o'-Lantern Halloween Tablescape

I love creating Halloween Tablescapes. There is something about the combination of orange and black that is so happy looking. I have done about 28 Halloween tablescapes now over the years. You can see them with my 270+ other tablescapes (I post a new one every week) on my blog here: https://www.whispersoftheheart.com/tablescapes I found this Jack-o’-Lantern tablecloth on Amazon recently. I love all the different expressions on the jack-o’-lanterns.

I found these bamboo jack-o’-lantern dinner plates online at My Mind’s Eye. This site has cute party supplies, mostly made out of paper, but I watch the site because sometimes the plates are melamine or bamboo. These plates come in a set of four with four different facial expressions on the jack-o’-lanterns.

I love the bold designs on these faces.

I reach for this black dinner plate often during Halloween season. It was made by Waechtersbach and it is called Fun Factory. A black dinner plate was one of the first plates I bought when I started tablescaping and I use it often. If you are starting a tablescaping collection a simple black dinner plate would be a good choice because you will use it often. This one probably came from HomeGoods several years ago.

This is another plate I reach for often during the Halloween season. This black glass charger plate is called Charge It and it was made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and they work well with many different color schemes.

The color of this orange placemat is a bit off in this photo, the previous photo shows the more accurate color. Sometimes when a tablecloth is a busy pattern I use solid color placemats as I did here to help break up the busy pattern and give the eye a place to rest. These orange placemats probably came from Pier 1 many years ago.

I have this Ginkgo International Le Prix flatware in black and red and over the years I have added yellow, moss green, and this color called persimmon. I can’t remember where I bought the set online but if you google it, something will probably pop up. I like this flatware design because it is a bit more informal like my tablescapes style. I think these orange cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods several years ago. I love the bright orange color, it’s a perfect color for Halloween tablescapes. I found the black metal jack-o’-lantern napkin rings on Amazon.

I found these Department 56 Mercury Glass Jack-o’-Lantern place card holders on Ebay a few years ago. I love place card holders, they add such a fun element to a themed tablescape.

I bought these black goblets on Ebay many years ago, they were some of the first goblets that I bought for my tablescaping collection. They were made by Lenox and they were called Midnight Mood black glass water goblets. They were made between 1974 and 1982 but you can still find them on Ebay from time to time. They are shorter than the goblets that I usually like to use. I like taller goblets but I wanted their height to be closer to the other goblet. These wonderful jack-o’-lantern goblets were designed by Johanna Parker and they are also labeled Transpac, Every Day is a Holiday. There were two different goblet face designs. You can find them online on several different sites if you do a google search. I bought them a few at a time online wherever I could find them for the best price several years ago.

After I bought the tablecloth, I knew the centerpiece needed to be an orange jack-o’-lantern and I remembered this vintage plastic blowmold jack-o’-lantern that I bought a few years ago and used on a couple of Halloween tablescapes. I have had really good luck finding unusual things on Mercari online and I found it there. I set it on a small black plate and then on one of the orange placemats.

I added a couple of salt and pepper sets to the table. This set was designed by Johanna Parker. I found the set a few years ago at Roger’s Gardens, a nursery and gift shop in the next County.

I have had this jack-o’-lantern salt and pepper set for a few years and I can’t remember where I bought it.

A Fang-tastic Batty Halloween Tablescape

My son who is in Marketing has been telling me that if I am posting holiday tablescapes to give people tablescaping ideas I should be posting them early enough so that people have time to gather the items that are needed to recreate them in some way if they want to. So here is my first Halloween tablescape. I created a Bat Halloween Tablescape three years ago but I decided it was time to do another one because I wanted to try a different tablecloth and centerpiece. I found this Christian Lacroix Bats polyester tablecloth at HomeGoods a few months ago. The background is a silver metallic fabric. It would be interesting to play up the silver aspect sometime on another Bat Halloween tablescape. Maybe next year although the silver doesn’t show up in photos as well as it should. I found these Teenyyou small ceramic black bat plates on Amazon a few months ago. They are not really practical for food except for appetizers but they look great on this tablescape!

Fiesta dinner plates are some of my go-to dinner plates when I need a basic dinner plate in a primary color. The color of this Fiesta plate is called Poppy and I love it because it is a true orange color. I have this dinner plate in several different colors as well and I use them often. Our every day dishes are this Fiesta plate design in the color Scarlet. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here. When I want to buy Fiesta plates I do a google search and then I buy them from the cheapest place that I can find.

This black plastic acrylic charger came from tableclothsFACTORY online a few years ago. I was happy with the relatively inexpensive price for six chargers. You can kind of see the silver specks in the tablecloth here, they are the dots that are showing. I have this Ginkgo International LePrix flatware set in black, red, green, and I added yellow and this color called persimmon a few years ago. I like this flatware design because it is somewhat informal like most of my themed tablescapes. I can’t remember where I bought this set online but if you google it, something will probably pop up. I found these black bat tea light candles that I am using as place card holders on this tablescape at Anthropologie online. If you look in the background across the table you can see that I set them on a small metal square place card holder that I have so that they would be a bit taller. I was delighted to find these black plastic goblets (on the left) on Amazon a few years ago. The advertisement said that they were disposable but I planned to keep them for a while until I could find some black glass goblets that were the same height. I have since found the black glass goblet on the right but I am keeping the other ones for now. I can’t remember where I found the black glass goblet on the right. They look like Libbey Premiere but those goblets are about an inch shorter. I really like the height of this one. I found this large black wicker bat at HomeGoods last month. He had eyes that were just white wicker circles so I ordered some googly eyes from Amazon and replaced them. He looks much better now.

I found the two small ceramic black bats at HomeGoods also.

Sometimes when I am at HomeGoods I wander around the candle area and recently I saw these metal bat candlesticks and the bat candles and I knew that they would be perfect for this Bat tablescape. The candles match the tablecloth perfectly.

Scarecrows on a Fall Tablescape

I have been trying to do a Fall scarecrow themed tablecape for the past three years and I could never find everything that I wanted for the tablescape until this year. I have always loved scarecrows, especially ones that have cute faces. I bought the heavy cotton green and white gingham tablecloth several years ago on Amazon. I love it when the seasons change and I can leave the themes for one season and move on to the next. I adore this cute scarecrow design! Several years ago I found three scarecrow salad plates that I really liked and I have been looking for three plates to match them ever since with no luck. I am still looking! In the meantime I found this metal scarecrow sign on Etsy and when I saw it I knew that I could set it on a small plate for my scarecrow tablescape. I just love this little scarecrow with all the fall colors.

I can’t remember where I bought this small orange glass plate but it may have been HomeGoods. It is not marked.

This green dinner plate was called Fun Factory and it was made by Waechtersbach. I have had them for several years and I can’t remember where I bought them. The color was called Apple Green.

This orange glass charger was made by Bormioli Rocco and I think the pattern was called Inca. It is well made and heavy glass. I have bought it in a few other colors as well over the years. I found them on Amazon several years ago. I do have to use a placemat when I use these glass chargers because the pattern on the tablecloth would show through if I didn’t.

I think I bought these orange glass goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx. They were some of the first goblets that I bought many years ago. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them that much but I have, especially this time of year. Dollar stores often have plastic goblets from time to time and they have glass goblets too. I bought the green acrylic goblets a couple years ago online at Home Depot. They are made by Certified International and they come in other colors too. This green is a great basic green color if you are looking for a green goblet to start your tablescaping collection. I love Jim Shore designs and this scarecrow, a retired design, is a favorite of mind. It was part of the Heartwood Creek series in 2005 and it was called Open Star, Keeping Watch, from Enesco. I bought it on the secondary market but I can’t remember where. Jim Shore’s designs are so detailed and I love the way he uses color in unexpected ways.

These small wooden scarecrow figures were made by Doublefill and they came from Amazon. There were six different scarecrows in each set. I set some of them back to back on this tablescape.
