A Spiderific Halloween Tablescape

October 09, 2024 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

When I look at this completed tablescape I must admit that I shudder a tiny bit. Spiders are not my friends, to say the least. I did two black spider tablescapes before, one three years ago, and one five years ago, but each one is different. I also did a couple of black widow spider themed tablescapes during the past several years. I found this black spider tablecloth while looking through Spoonflower online when they were having a sale several weeks ago. When I saw this tablecloth I knew it matched my black metal spiders that I have been wanting to use again so another spider tablescape was born.

I found these black and white spiderweb and spider salad plates at Michaels online last month. They are labeled Celebrate it.

This black dinner plate was made by Waechtersbach and it was called Fun Factory. This black dinner plate was one of the first plates that I bought when I started tablescaping and I use it often. Dinner plates in basic colors should be some of your first purchases if you want to start tablescaping. It probably came from HomeGoods many years ago.

This orange glass charger was made by Bormioli Rocco and I think the pattern was called Inca. It is good quality and a heavy glass. I have bought it in a few other colors as well over the years. I found them on Amazon several years ago. I have learned to add a placemat with the same color under these chargers if possible because whatever they are sitting on shows through the glass.

The orange placemat provides a great backdrop for the orange glass. They probably came from Pier 1 before our store closed a few years ago.

I wanted another set of black flatware that was all black and different from my Ginkgo International LePrix black set to use on my Halloween tablescapes and I found this set a few years ago on sale at Macy’s online. It was made by Lenox and the pattern is called Portola. I love the simple design and shiny black color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These bright orange cotton napkins probably came from HomeGoods or Pier 1 several years ago. The black metal spiderweb napkin rings came from Amazon a few years ago. I really like their simple yet bold design. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I have had these black spiderweb place card holders for several years, I bought them at Williams Sonoma. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

This combination of goblets often appears on my Halloween tablescapes. The orange goblets on the left were some of the first goblets I bought many years ago, I think I bought them at Ross or T.J. Maxx. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I sure do this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this design in bright colors. I have black goblets that are shorter than this black goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon a few years ago. It said that they are disposable but I am keeping them for a while until I can find some black glass ones that are the same height. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors that I use the most often) for your tablescaping collection here.

These three black metal spiders came from Olive and Cocoa online several years ago. As soon as I saw them, I knew that I could use them on many Halloween table settings and I have. I really like their bold and simple design.

This is the Spider tablescape that I did three years ago. You can read about it here.

I did this Spider tablescape five years ago. You can read about it here.

This tablescape is about the only place that I want to see spiders in my house!

Jack-O'-Lanterns on a Halloween Tablescape

October 02, 2024 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I always try to create a tablescape at least one time during Halloween season that has jack-o’-lanterns on it. I love the color combination during Halloween of the traditional colors of black and orange but I often add white to the mix for some contrast. I found this black and white buffalo check tablecloth on Amazon several years ago. It is heavy cotton and it is really easy to iron with a steam iron. If you read my blog you have seen this tablecloth before on winter and summer tablescapes. I have the same buffalo print in a larger square pattern.

I saw this bufffalo print jack-o’-lantern salad plate on another blog and I knew I had to buy it because I knew that I had all that I needed to create a Halloween tablescape with it. I found the salad plates at Kirkland’s online a few months ago.

I love these bright orange Halloween dinner plates. (The photo doesn’t actually show the true orange color. It is a deeper orange than what is showing.) I can’t remember where I bought these plates but they are labeled Royal Norfolk, Greenbrier International, Inc..

This black glass Starburst charger is called Charge It and was made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. A black charger with a simple design is a good starter charger plate if you are thinking about starting a tablescaping hobby.

Sometimes when a tablecloth is a busy pattern I use solid color placemats to help break up the busy pattern. These orange place mats probably came from Pier 1 many years ago.

This orange flatware set is labeled Mepra Inox and the pattern is called Fantasia. We bought it on sale at Houzz online earlier this year but several stores sell it. I also have this flatware in blue and yellow. It comes in several other colors also. It is difficult to find flatware sets in different colors so I have my eye on a few other colors as well when it goes on sale again. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I think these orange cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods several years ago. I love the bright orange color, it’s a perfect color for a Halloween tablescape. These wonderful vintage looking Legigo metal jack-o’-lantern napkin rings came from Amazon two years ago. When I saw them I immediately knew that I would use them often during Halloween season. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I found these Department 56 Mercury Glass Jack-o’-lantern place card holders on Ebay a few years ago. I love place card holders, they can add such a fun element to a themed tablescape. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

I think I bought the orange glass goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx. They were some of the first goblets I bought several years ago. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I have, especially this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer Dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this one in bright colors and when you put them on the table they look just like glass goblets. I have black goblets that are shorter than this black goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height that were all black. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon a few years ago. The advertisement said that they are disposable but I plan to keep them for a while until I can find some black glass goblets that are the same height. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection here (including the colors that I use the most often).

I forgot that I had these Halloween cake stands for a few years because they were stored in the attic space. I bought them in two sizes, this is the smaller one, from Grandin Road online several years ago. I really like the ruffled edge. Steve found the jack-o’-lanterns at HomeGoods for me last week when my original idea for a jack-o’-lantern centerpiece didn’t work out.

I found this salt and pepper set a few years ago at Roger’s Gardens, a nursery and gift shop in the next County. I knew this Johanna Parker design would match the centerpiece on this Halloween tablescape.

I have had this jack-o’-lantern salt and pepper set for a few years and I can’t remember where I found it.

I love creating Halloween tablescapes, they are such fun!

A Ghostly Halloween Tablescape

September 25, 2024 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This Ghostly Halloween tablescape is a combination of two Ghost tablescapes that I did in 2021 and 2023. I took elements from both of those tablescapes and created a new tablescape. I found this tablecloth online at At Home a few years ago. I was looking for a Halloween tablecloth and I wanted it to have an orange background with white ghosts. This tablecloth was exactly what I needed. This is the 25th Halloween tablescape that I have created. Halloween tablescapes are some of my favorites tablescapes to create.

I found these stoneware white ghost plates at Pottery Barn online a few months ago. I have some ghosts bowls but I have been looking for ghost plates for a while and I was really happy to see these pop up.

This is a Fiesta dinner plate in the color Poppy, a perfect color for a Halloween tablescape. I can’t remember where I bought them online but if you google it, there are several sources where they can be purchased. I have this plate in several different colors and I use this style often on my plate stacks when I need a simple solid color dinner plate.

These black glass Starburst chargers are called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. They are in constant use on my tablescapes every October.

This black stainless flatware set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had it for several years, I’m not sure where I bought it. You can still find it for sale online. It gets a lot of use this time of year but I actually use them at other times of the year as well. If I were starting a flatware collection for tablescaping, black would be one of the first colors I would buy. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These black cotton napkins came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. They are a really nice study cotton fabric in a true black color. So often black is actually a dark charcoal or dark gray but these are the perfect black color. I found the white acrylic ghost napkin rings on Etsy last month. They are a perfect match for this Ghostly Halloween Tablescape. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I found these small soy white wax ghost candles on Amazon last year. I set them on a Oleg Cassini clear glass place card holder. I bought the glass place card holders at HomeGoods several years ago when I first started tablescaping. They are heavy and solid and I really like the simple design. I often use them as a stand for place card holder items. If you read my blog you have seen them several times being used as a stand for something that I am using as a place card holder. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

I often use black and orange goblets on my Halloween tablescapes but this black goblet is a newer addition to my goblet collection. I bought them a few years ago. I have black goblets that are shorter than this goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height that were all black. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon. The advertisement said that they are disposable but I plan to keep them for a while until I can find some black glass ones that are the same height. I think I bought these orange glass goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets I bought when I started tablescaping. I love using them this time of year. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

I was browsing Mercari online a few years ago when I found this large ghost and I just love it. It was a dirty cream color but Hubby painted it white for me. It is ceramic and heavy! I love the expression and the folds are perfect.

This Pearhead Ghost salt and pepper set came from Amazon last month.

Hubby found this cute ghosts butter dish last month. I think he found it at HomeGoods.

I have done two other Ghost tablescapes. You can see this one in further detail here .

You can see more details about this Ghost tablescape here.

Halloween tablescapes are some of my favorites. I look forward to creating them every year. I develop Halloween themes way in advance and I look for things for months!

A Candy Corn Halloween Tablescape

September 18, 2024 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This Candy Corn Halloween Tablescape has been about three years in the making. I came up with the idea a few years ago but it has taken me this long to find everything that I wanted for the table. I can’t remember where I bought the polyester orange checked tablecloth.

This melamine candy corn salad plate is labeled Place Time but I can’t remember where I bought it. If you google candy corn plate several similar ones will pop up.

This is a Fiesta dinner plate in the color Poppy, a perfect color for a Halloween tablescape. I can’t remember where I bought it online but if you google it, there are several sources where it can be purchased. I have this plate in several different colors and I use this style often on my plate stacks when I need a simple solid color dinner plate.

This is a Color Spectrum charger by Mikasa, the color is Sun Yellow. I bought these chargers on Ebay a few at a time over the years as I saw them because I love the quality and the selection of colors on these chargers. I have them in several colors now and I use them often.

This orange flatware is labeled Mepra Inox and the pattern is called Fantasia. We bought it on sale at Houzz online a few months ago but several stores sell it. I also have this flatware in blue and yellow. It comes in several other colors also and it is difficult to find flatware sets in different colors so I have my eye on a few other colors as well when it goes on sale again. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I think these orange cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods several years ago. I love the bright orange color, it’s a perfect color for a Halloween tablescape. I found the candy corn napkin rings on Ebay last month and I was so happy when I found them!

I knew that I could use these small plastic candy corn boxes as place card holders. I set them on small clear glass place card holders that I often use as bases for other place card holders. I bought these candy corn boxes at Oriental Trading online a few years ago.

I think I bought the orange goblet on the left at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets that I bought when I started tablescaping. When I bought them I figured I wouldn’t use them that often but I am surprised at how often they appear on my tablescapes. It can be difficult to find yellow glass goblets that don’t have a gold tint to them so when I saw these yellow goblets on Etsy a few years ago I immediately bought them. I love the color and the size of them. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection here.

I found the two large candy corns at HomeGoods a few months ago but they looked very different when I bought them. They were a distressed color and they had some twine decorating them. Hubby repainted them for me. I found the smaller ones on Ebay I think. They actually have jack o’ lantern faces on the other side.

I really like the bright colors on this Halloween tablescape.
