Violets on a Spring Tablescape

I have been pondering this tablescape for over a year now and I finally pulled it all together. The purple polyester tablecloth came from TablecothsFactory online several years ago. The label says veeyoo. It is the perfect color for a spring or Easter table setting.

Several years ago our main bedroom was decorated with purple and green and I had a few violets accents scattered around. (The decor in that room has changed since then.) I found a Royal Albert bone china salad plate made in England while I was looking for anything with violets on it. I really like the violet flowers design on these plates and the scalloped gold rim. The plate design was copyrighted in 1973 and they were part of a series of plates called Provincial Flowers, this plate in the series was called Purple Violet. It took me several years to find six of them and then they sat in the hutch until now. I actually have four sets of cups and saucers too because they often came with the plates.

When I am looking for a basic dinner plate in a solid color I usually look at my Fiesta dinner plates first. I have this plate in several different colors now. I think this Fiesta color is called Plum. When I want to buy Fiesta plates I usually google the color that I want and buy them where they are the cheapest. I often use this frosted green flatware set on Spring tablescapes. I bought the set at World Market several years ago and the pattern was called Madeline Green. I really like the frosted design on the handles. Every time that I use it I get comments about the set. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These green cotton napkins came from our World Market store many years ago when I first started tablescaping. I use them often in the spring and the fall. The vintage bone china violets napkin rings came from Ebay last month. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

The green goblet on the left came from Macy’s three years ago. They are called Qualia Glass Meridian. I like the height of them and the beautiful green color. It has taken me several years to gather goblets in the purple colors that I need for my tablescapes. I can’t remember where these purple glass goblets came from but it was probably HomeGoods. I found these faux violets on Amazon a few weeks ago. I put them in this large white pottery vase that I inherited from my mother. She received a pair of them as a wedding present in 1938. I decided to add one of my vintage violets hankies under the vase. (If you are the observant type you will notice that this hankie doesn’t match the hankie in my first photo. I changed the hankie because I thought the other hankie with curved edges looked better and I decided not to take the time to redo all the photos.)

I added this small violets trinket to the table setting on one side of the centerpiece. It was made by Royal Albert in England and it is bone china. It was part of their Flowers of the Month Series and it was called Violets. I probably found it on Ebay several years ago.

On the other side of the centerpiece I added this small lidded bowl covered with violets. It is labeled Royal Porzellan Bavaria KPM Germany Handarbeit. It probably came from Ebay as well.

White Hearts on a Valentine's Day Tablescape

Sometimes when I see a tablecloth at HomeGoods it immediately causes me to flash on a tablescape idea and that was the case with this white hearts on red tablecloth. I knew that I already had napkins that I could use so I bought it and came home and started looking for white hearts!

Amazon tends to be the first place that I look for things because I can choose things that will ship quickly and returns are easy if there is a problem. We pay to be a Prime member because we often buy things from Amazon so shipping is free. So I looked for white heart salad plates there and I found these Delling brand heart shaped salad plates last month. Exactly what I was looking for.

This white charger is one of the first charger sets I bought when I started tablescaping. The pattern is called Antique Beaded and I bought them at Williams Sonoma several years ago. I use this charger constantly on my table settings. If you look back through my blog at my tablescapes, you will see it often. A simple white charger is a great first purchase if you want to create more interest for your table settings. I bought this frosted white flatware set on sale online at Wayfair a few years ago, it was made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 instead of 18/10 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes. I can’t remember where I found the puffy red metal heart napkin rings. The white napkins with red hearts came from Pier 1 several years ago before our store closed. These metal white heart place card holders came from The Knot Shop online, a wedding supplies site. I often find less expensive napkin rings and place card holders on wedding supply sites online because I think they are priced low so that brides will buy lots of them. Hubby found the red glass goblet on the left at an estate sale a few years ago. I think they are hand blown Ruby Red Bubble Glass Goblets made by Artland. I have this glass goblet in yellow and purple as well. The white glass goblet on the right came from Walmart online a few years ago. They were also made by Artland and the pattern is called Veranda. A few years ago Target was selling these large cardboard heart shaped boxes and I bought two of them because I knew that they would work well as centerpieces. They were red but Hubby painted this one white for me for this tablescape. Then I attached a heart doily to it from my hankie collection. I set the heart on a simple red stand that I bought at Pottery Barn several years ago.

I added two Mosser Glass salt and pepper sets in white and red to each side of the heart centerpiece.

The Mosser Glass Company was established in 1971 and it is located in Cambridge, Ohio. They sell high quality American made glassware and I love their products. I have a few sets of their goblets and a few cake stands too. I usually buy Mosser Glass products at The Vermont Country Store online.

Red Hearts on a Valentine's Day Tablescape

I love Valentine’s Day and I love Valentine’s Day tablescapes! I really need to stop buying holiday tablecloths because I have run out of room but when I saw this hearts tablecloth at HomeGoods last month I couldn’t resist it. It has a label that says Shabby Chic and it feels like a linen blend. I love the combination of red and pink in the design on the hearts.

I found these red heart plastic salad plates at Hobby Lobby probably last year. They are a true primary red color, a color that can be difficult to find sometimes. Companies always seem to want to manipulate colors these days.

These white dinner plates are made by Lenox and the pattern is called Opal Innocence Carved. I probably found them at HomeGoods several years ago. I chose them for this tablescape because I thought that the swirls on the lip of the plate were a good match for the heart design on the tablecloth.

I have this glass charger in a few different colors and I really like them. I bought them when I first started tablescaping several years ago. They are a heavy red glass and I love the color and the tweed like design in the glass. They were made by Villeroy and Boch and the pattern was called Verona Textured. Not sure where I bought them online.

I really love the frosted red color on this flatware set, it is so unique. This flatware set was made by D & D Inox in Italy and the pattern was called Roma. I bought the set at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale when I first started tablescaping several years ago. I have this design in a few other frosted colors as well. These red cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 many years ago. The pink metal love napkin rings came from Amazon four years ago. This design is such a perfect match for the heart design on the tablecloth.

I am using my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets on this tablescape only this time I added the matching red iced teas too. I really love this glassware. It is well made, heavy, and a true red color. I bought the goblets at HomeGoods several years ago and I liked them so much that I slowly added the matching iced teas to my collection as I found them online. I also bought these goblets in clear glass to add to my tablescaping collection. I found this red hearts sculpture at HomeGoods last year. It was natural wood but Hubby painted it red for me. I set it on a red drinks dispenser stand that I bought at Pottery Barn several years ago to make it a bit taller.

I decided to add a Mosser Glass red salt and pepper set to this Valentine’s Day tablescape. I bought this set online at The Vermont Country Store a few years ago. A Happy Groundhog's Day Winter Tablescape

Groundhog’s Day (February 2nd) is my husband’s favorite holiday (go figure!). He has always loved that day and when we took our six week driving trip across the country and back in the fall of 2022 we made a special detour to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to see groundhog Punxsutawney Phil and his wife Phyliss. Every February 2nd Punxsutawney Phil looks for his shadow at Gobbler’s Knob to see if he has a shadow. If he sees his shadow there will be six more weeks of winter. It is always on the national news and Hubby always sends the results out to family on that day. I have thought about a tablescape celebrating Groundhog’s Day for years but I couldn’t find anything related to the theme here in Southern California. I knew there would be Groundhog’s Day things for sale in Punxsutawney and I was right so this tablescape was off and running. (A google search will turn up items as well now.) I decided to use a simple white polyester tablecloth on the table, I probably bought it on Amazon.

Here is Hubby in front of Punxsutawney Phil’s Groundhog Zoo at the Punxsutawney Memorial Library in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Phil can be seen with his wife Phyliss all the time through this exterior window in the wall of the library. They were in hibernation when we were there but you could see them sleeping in their burrows. Their zoo is climate controlled and light regulated. Hubby was so excited to see them!

This is the statue of Punxsutawney Phil at the library. We then drove out to Gobbler’s Knob where Phil actually looks for his shadow and I found several things at the gift shop there.

There were no salad plates for Groundhog’s Day but I found these decals and I knew I could set them on a solid colored plate and that would work.

These simple white salad plates probably came from HomeGoods several years ago. They are marked elite, Gibson bone china. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying salad plates here.

These black porcelain dinner plates were made by 10 Strawberry Street and they were called Classic Black Porcelain. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. It’s always good to add dinner plates in basic colors to your tablescaping collection especially black. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

These chargers were made by Juliska and the pattern was called Ruby Berry and Thread. Several years ago I bought these chargers a few at a time over several months from various places online until I had the number I needed. I like the simple design on the rim and it is a bit larger than some of the chargers I have. It is a darker red than a true red.

I wanted another set of black flatware that was all black and different from my Ginkgo International LePrix set to use on my Halloween tablescapes a few years ago and I found this set on sale at Macy’s online. It was made by Lenox and the pattern is called Portola. I love the simple design and shiny black color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These napkin rings are actually buttons that I found at Gobbler’s Knob and I attached them to a white napkin ring. When I found a Ralph Lauren red brocade tablecloth at HomeGoods a few years ago I also bought the matching napkins. I really love the rich red color. I found these small Punxsutawney Phil figures at Gobbler’s Knob also and I set them on a clear square place card holder. I bought these crystal place card holders at HomeGoods several years ago when I first started tablescaping. They were made by Oleg Cassini. They are heavy and solid and I really like the design. I think the red glass goblet on the left came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. I had been looking for some simple red goblets and I grabbed these when I saw them online. I only bought six and I wish now that I had bought more. The goblet with the black bowl and clear stem on the right was made by Classic Touch and is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a few years ago. I was really hoping to find a groundhog centerpiece in Punxsutawney and when I saw this plastic Punxsutawney Phil bank at Gobbler’s Knob, I knew my search was over. He was just the right size. I set him on a small black cake stand that I found at HomeGoods.

I couldn’t resist this Punxsutawney Phil salt and pepper set either!

I added a small Punxsutawney Phil figure to the table too.

I found the garland in Punxsutawney too. Hubby loves this tablescape!
