A Sweater Weather Winter Tablescape

I have been trying to pull this winter themed tablescape together for a while now. I was looking for a good centerpiece but I finally gave up and just set some trees in the center of the table. (I was really hoping to find a cookie jar shaped something like a sweater but no such luck!) Sometimes you just have to settle. The sweater tablecloth is a favorite however, I found it at Spoonflower online. It could easily be used on a Christmas themed tablescape too.

After a Google search I found these melamine sweater shaped salad plates at Mercari online. I couldn’t believe it! They are perfect for this tablescape. They came in a set of four with four different designs and I used three of the designs on this table setting. I love the bright colors.

I have had this dinner plate for several years. It was made by Fun Factory and the color was called Apple Green. I think I found them at HomeGoods several years ago. I have green dinner plates in a few different shades of green and I like the bright green color on this one. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

This is a Mikasa charger in the pattern Color Spectrum and color Royal Blue. If you read my blog, you have seen this charger in other colors as well. I bought them all a few at a time as I saw them on Ebay several years ago. I love these chargers, they are the perfect size and shape. Such a busy tablecloth pattern but a fun one, the flatware is a bit difficult to see! This Milano Red flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years but it is still for sale. Not sure where I bought it. I now have it in other colors as well. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These red cotton napkins came from Pier 1 several years ago. They are my go-to napkins when I need a basic bright red colored napkin. I can’t remember where I found the winter cottage napkin rings a few years ago but it was probably Ebay. There are a couple of different house designs in the set. From time to time I do a search on Ebay using the terms vintage napkin rings and often interesting sets pop out.

I found these small wood sweaters on Amazon, they are actually Christmas ornaments. There were several different sweater designs in the set so I used a few different ones on this tablescape. I set them on a clear acrylic place card holder that I found on Amazon too.

The green goblet on the left came from Macy’s a few years ago. The pattern is called Qualia Glass Meridian. I like the height and the beautiful green color. Hubby likes to go to estate sales and he found the blue goblet on the right at one last year. They both are the perfect color combination for this tablescape. These forest green trees came from different stores over the past few years, Hobby Lobby and HomeGoods probably. Hubby repainted them because I wanted them all to be a darker forest green color.

I found this sweater salt and pepper set online at Servette Home. The other side has candy canes on it so I just turned them around for the photo.

It is really sweater weather right now!

A Winter Village Tablescape

This tablescape has been in the back of my mind for a few years now. I did a tablescape using these plates a few years ago (you can see that tablescape here) but they are some of my favorites so I wanted to use them again. This heavyweight Jacquard tablecloth was made by Benson Mills and I found it on Amazon last year. The color of it in these photos is not really correct. It is a darker red and leans toward burgundy.

These winter snow scene stoneware plates were made by Juliska and the pattern was called Country Estate Winter Frolic in Ruby. They were manufactured starting in 2012. These plates were called party plates and they were sold in a set of four with four different designs on the plates. This one was called Winter Stable with the horse stable in the background and the horse pulling a sleigh in the front. I bought this plate set a few plates at a time over a couple of years until I had the number I needed. I can’t remember where I bought them but it was online and probably on several different sites. Although these designs are no longer being made, Juliska has plates that are very similar still in production I think.

This party plate was called Winter Manor House with the large home in the background and people riding sleds in front.

This party plate was called Winter Conservatory with the conservatory building in the back and people building a snowman in the front.

This party plate was called Winter Boathouse with a boathouse building in the back on the edge of the lake and people ice skating in the front. I love the simple drawings on these plate and the heavy scalloped edges.

The dinner plates all have the same design on them and some of the designs repeat the designs on the party plates.

This white charger is one of the first charger sets I bought when I started tablescaping. The pattern is called Antique Beaded and I bought them at Williams Sonoma several years ago. I use this charger constantly in my table settings. If you look back through my blog at my tablescapes, you will see it often. I bought this frosted white flatware on sale online at Wayfair several years ago, it was made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes. I can’t remember where I found the red pottery napkin rings online. I have had them for a few years. I bought the poinsettia and holly napkins at HomeGoods a few years ago, they were made by Ralph Lauren. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

These Robert Stanley white house place card holders probably came from Ebay a few years ago. I was trying to think what would work on this tablescape for a place card holder and I suddenly remembered these. Perfect! To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

I decided to use two of the same red goblets on this table. These goblets were made by Cristal D’Arques-Durand and the pattern was called Antique Ruby. They are a pressed glass diamond and fan pattern. I think I bought them years ago a few at a time on Ebay until I had a set. They were made between 1990 and 2008. They are not quite as dark as these photos show. I bought these ceramic white houses at Sur La Table online several years ago. I have been waiting to use them for quite some time and this tablescape seemed the perfect opportunity.

Snowmen on a Buffalo Check Winter Tablescape

I knew that I wanted to create a snowman themed tablescape after the Christmas season was over a few years ago and I decided to use a buffalo check design. I found this black and white buffalo check tablecloth on Amazon a couple of years ago. It is heavy cotton and it is really easy to iron with a steam iron. I used this tablecloth on a Valentine’s Day tablescape last year, you can see that tablescape here. I also used it on a Farm Animals themed Summer tablescape last Summer and you can see that tablescape here.

I have a couple of different snowman salad plate designs in my tablescaping collection but they don’t have a black and white buffalo check design. I looked for a design that had a snowman with black and white buffalo check and couldn’t find anything. When that happens I often start looking for something to set on a solid colored salad plate and I always check Etsy. This is a circle of aluminum that has been painted. It was sold as a large ornament for a wreath but it was the perfect design for this tablescape. I set it on a square black glass salad plate. We found these black glass plates somewhere in Virginia while we were visiting our son and his family a few years ago. They were made by Luminarc France. They are salad or tidbit plates. Because of the square check design on the tablecloth I decided that I wanted the plate stack to be all square shaped plates. I only have a few square plates in my dish collection and they are all in solid primary colors. This large beaded square white dinner plate was made by 10 Strawberry Street. I probably found them at HomeGoods several years ago. HomeGoods always has an aisle full of white dishes in lots of different shapes and sizes that are inexpensive. I needed a basic square black charger for my dish collection and I found these on Amazon a few years ago. They are melamine and they were made by American Atelier. They almost look like glass. To read about what you should consider when you are buying charger plates please click here.

This black flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for several years and it came from Overstock.com. I have this set in a few different colors now. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I turned to Etsy again to find a black and white buffalo check snowman design to use for a napkin ring. This design is custom printed on hardboard. I think I was lucky to find it! I just taped it temporarily to a simple white porcelain napkin ring that I had. These basic cotton black napkins came from Crate and Barrel last year.

I found these snowman place card holders at Hobby Lobby last year. The ribbon was a tartan design but I bought a buffalo check ribbon on Amazon and changed it out. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

I knew that I wanted black and white goblets for this tablescape. The goblet with the black bowl and clear stem on the left was made by Classic Touch and it is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a few years ago. I have very very tall white goblets but I had been looking for shorter white ones for a long time. I finally found these white goblets at Walmart a few years ago. They were made by Artland and the pattern is called Veranda. I found this snowman cookie jar at Hobby Lobby a few years ago. I decided to set it on a small black cake stand that I had but it didn’t fit flat because of the rim on the stand so I turned the stand upside down and I actually love the way it looks.

I added two Mosser Glass salt and pepper sets in black and white to each side of the snowman centerpiece.

I love using the color combination of black and white on a tablescape.

Holly on a Christmas Tablescape

I bought this Holly themed tablecloth at HomeGoods a few years ago but this is the first time that I have used it on a Christmas Tablescape. I love the graphics on the tablecloth. This Holly theme would be a good theme for a tablescape after Christmas is over and you need ideas for January and Winter tablescapes. The tablecloth is polyester and the only problem with polyester tablecloths and napkins is how slippery they are. I store them in stacks on shelves and it is such a pain when something slips out especially when it is a stack of many napkins that all fall on the floor and have to be folded again.

I have been slowly gathering holly themed items, sometimes gathering specific themed items takes a long time. I started planning for this tablescape last Christmas. I found these holly salad plates at Pottery Barn online a few years ago after doing a google search for holly salad plates. They are a heavy ceramic material. I like the darker forest green color, the holly design, and the red berry accents.

These red stoneware dinner plates were sold by Better Homes and Gardens. I have had them for a few years and I don’t remember where I bought them online. They are a heavier stoneware and I chose them to go with the heavier dark green holly salad plates on the plate stack. I like the scalloped edge. I have several different red dinner plates and each set is a different kind of design. I probably should stop buying red dinner plates!

These chargers were made by Mikasa and the pattern was called Color Spectrum. The color of this charger is Hunter Green. I have this charger in several different colors and I really love the size, design and shape. They were discontinued but I bought them all on Ebay a few at a time over the years as I found them.

This flatware set was made by D & D Inox in Italy and the pattern was called Roma. I bought them at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale many years ago. There are similar frosted patterns available online now. I really like the marbleized design on the handles. I bought this pattern in a few other colors as well. I have had these red cotton napkins for a long time. I am not sure where they came from but I love the bright red color. I found these vintage metal holly napkin rings on Ebay a few years ago. They had some paint loss but I knew I wanted the green color to be a darker green so I bought them. Hubby spray-painted them for me. When you are looking at vintage items remember that you can sometimes repaint them especially if they are metal.

I found these vintage holly and white place card holders with red candles on Etsy a few years ago. They were in the original box with a price tag from Maas Brothers. Maas Brothers was a store started by two brothers in Tampa, Florida in 1886. The brand ended in 1991 when the company was taken over by another company. I suspect these place card holders were sold between the 1960’s and the 1980’s. There is a space to write the guest’s name and it can be erased so that the place card holder can be used again. The original candles were included, I can’t believe that they weren’t broken at some point. I love finding vintage napkin rings and place card holders because they are different from those that are sold today. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets on this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. Hubby and I were in there and I suddenly saw a few and quickly found twelve and bought them all! If you read the tablescapes section on my blog you have seen this red goblet on many tablescapes. I think if I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. The green cut glass goblet on the right came from Williams Sonoma a few years ago. The pattern is called Christmas Pine Cone Cut and they were selling it in red and green when I bought them. They are hand cut and hand painted and I really love the pine cone design. They are a prettier brighter green color than these photos show.

I struggled a bit with a centerpiece for this Holly Tablescape. I finally ended up with this red glass bowl filled with decoupage holly ornaments from At Home online with a red and green glass pillar candle holder on each side. I found this ruby red glass serving bowl on Ebay last year but it wasn’t identified. I used Google Images and I was actually able to identify it as made by New Martinsville/Viking between 1926 and 1970. The pattern was called Janice.

These Blenko Monticello Poinsettia Vases came from Monticello Shop online several years ago. They were handblown and they were a Christmas present from Hubby. I put a white pillar candle in each one.

I love the color combination of green and red together at Christmas time and if you read my blog you see that color combination often on some of my Christmas Tablescapes.
