Haunted Houses on a Halloween Tablescape

October 05, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I love using buffalo print tablecloths from time to time. This black and white buffalo print tablecloth lends itself well to a Halloween theme. I found this tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago. It came from allcottonandlinen.com. It is heavy cotton and it is really easy to iron with a steam iron. I love the fabric. This is the third Haunted House Halloween tablescape that I have created. You can see the other two Haunted House tablescapes that I did before here and here. They all use some of the same elements but they are all different.

I have a large collection of different Halloween themed salad plates, they seem to be a weakness of mine. I found these haunted house salad plates on Ebay a few years ago after looking for quite a while for something that I liked. They were originally sold by Target in sets of four.

This black porcelain dinner plate was made by 10 Strawberry Street. I love having basic color dinner plates that I can use over and over again when I need them. The pattern was called Black Classic Porcelain. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

This black plastic acrylic charger came from tableclothsFACTORY online a year ago. I was happy with the relatively inexpensive price for six chargers. A basic black charger is always a good purchase when you are starting a tablescaping collection. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers, please click here.

I have this Ginkgo International Le Prix flatware set in black and red and over the years I added yellow, moss green, and this color called persimmon. I love using this set during the Halloween season. I can’t remember where I bought the set online but if you google it, something will probably pop up. I bought all the sets online I think. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These bright orange napkins probably came from HomeGoods or Pier 1 several years ago. JandyArt14 on Etsy made the black metal haunted house napkin rings for me a few years ago. They have made witch and cat napkin rings for me before too. I love metal napkin rings because they won’t break, they will last for a long long time, and they can be used over and over again. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I can’t remember where I found these orange led light place card holders online. I have had them for a few years. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

I often use black and orange goblets on my Halloween tablescapes but this black goblet is a newer addition to my goblet collection. I bought them last year. I have black goblets that are shorter than this goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height that were all black. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon last year. The advertisement said that they are disposable but I plan to keep them for a while until I can find some black glass ones that are the same height. I think I bought these orange glass goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets I bought when I started tablescaping. I love using them this time of year. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

I found this stoneware Haunted House Lidded Candy Bowl earlier last year at Pottery Barn online. It is sitting on a wood stand that I bought at Pier 1 a few years ago for a bit more height. The stand was a natural wood color but Hubby painted it white for me to use on one tablescape and then black for a few other tablescapes including this one.

Skulls on a Halloween Tablescape

September 28, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I found this Warm Tour Gothic Skull damask style tablecloth on Amazon last summer. I knew I was going to be doing a skull themed Halloween tablescape this year so when I saw this tablecloth I knew I was going to buy it. I did a Skull Halloween tablescape a few years ago but this one is very different. You can see that skull tablescape here. (This is actually the third Skull tablescape I have done, I did one several years ago too.)

I found these melamine Way to Celebrate Skull appetizer or tidbit plates on Amazon last year. They were exactly what I was looking for, a perfect match for the tablecloth, serendipity!

I added an extra plate, a salad plate, to this plate stack because I wanted a certain color combination. I bought these black melamine salad plates online at Home Depot last summer. They were part of their Home Decorator Collection and they were made by Trenblay. An unusual plate design that is appearing more often now. I have noticed that plate designers are changing the shape of the edges of plates more and more often now.

I wanted to add another color to the black and white design on this table setting so I decided to use orange. Fiesta dinner plates are some of my go-to dinner plates when I need a basic dinner plate in a primary color. The color of this Fiesta plate is called Poppy and I love it because it is a true orange color. I have this dinner plate in several different colors and I use them often. Our every day dishes are this Fiesta plate design in the color Scarlet. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

I have a few different white chargers but this is the one I seem to use the most on my tablescapes. The beaded rim design always adds an additional bit of interest to the plate stack. This white beaded charger came from Williams Sonoma and it is called Antique Beaded. It was one of the first chargers I bought years ago when I started tablescaping. A basic white charger is always a good purchase when you are starting a tablescaping collection. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers, please click here.

I have this Ginkgo International Le Prix flatware in black and red and over the years I added yellow, moss green, and this color called persimmon. I can’t remember where I bought the set online but if you google it, something will probably pop up. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I think these orange cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods several years ago. I love the bright orange color. I think I found these Tahari skull napkin rings at HomeGoods. They were a silver color and Hubby painted them white for me. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

These skull place card holders came from Grandin Road online several years ago. Their Halloween catalog and collections are amazing every year! I have twelve of these napkin rings and this year I decided to paint six of them white so I could use them on this tablescape. The place cards came from Amazon. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

This black goblet is a newer addition to my goblet collection. I found these white goblets at Walmart a few years ago. They were made by Artland and the pattern is called Veranda. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most often) for your tablescaping collection here.

I bought this large white skull at HomeGoods to use as a centerpiece a few years ago. It was all white so I went around the house looking for something easy to use for black eyes so that it would match the other skulls on the table and ended up using two black earrings. They should have been a bit larger but he looks pretty good!

Ghosts on a Halloween Tablescape

September 21, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I found this tablecloth online at At Home. I was looking for a tablecloth to use with these Johanna Parker ghosts and I wanted it to have an orange background. This tablecloth was exactly what I needed. This is the 23rd Halloween tablescape that I have created and the second Ghost tablescape. Halloween tablescapes are some of my favorites to create. You can see the other Ghost tablescape that I did before here.

I have such a weakness for Johanna Parker designs. I think they are so cute! These Johanna Parker ghost salad plates were made by Transpac and they are also labeled Every day is a holiday. I bought them at Mercari online, Ebay, and Etsy in order to get the six that I needed.

I have an extra plate on this plate stack. I bought these black melamine salad plates online at Home Depot last summer. They were part of their Home Decorator Collection and they were made by Trenblay. An unusual plate design that is appearing more often now. I have noticed that plate designers are changing the shape of the edges of plates more and more often now.

I love the orange color and the white edge on this dinner plate. The orange is a true Halloween orange and I love true primary colors. This dinner plate was a Rachael Ray design, the pattern was called Rise. I bought them online somewhere several years ago but I can’t remember where. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

This black plastic acrylic charger came from tableclothsFACTORY online a year ago. I was happy with the relatively inexpensive price for six chargers.

This black flatware set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years and it came from Overstock.com. If you read my blog you have seen this flatware on other Halloween tablescapes also. It is in constant use in October. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These black cotton napkins came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. They are a really nice study cotton fabric. These Johanna Parker ghost napkin rings came from Christmas Traditions online last year. They match the salad plates and the centerpiece. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I love the happy ghost face.

I found these small soy white wax ghost candles on Amazon last year. I set them on a Oleg Cassini clear glass place card holder. I bought the place card holders at HomeGoods several years ago when I first started tablescaping. They are heavy and solid and I really like the simple design. I often use them as a stand for place card holder items. If you read my blog you have seen them several times being used as a stand for something that I am using as a place card holder.

I found this Halloween Boo ghost cookie jar designed by Johanna Parker on Ebay last year. I set it on a small black glass cake stand that I have had for several years. Not sure where I found it.

I added a couple of small white wood ghosts to the table that I found at Hobby Lobby. When you have a busy tablecloth you don’t want to fill the table with too much clutter because everything blends into everything and the eye doesn’t know what to look at. You also need to add areas of solid color to rest the eyes.

I found this Johanna Parker ghost salt and pepper set on Ebay last year. I love how the facial expressions match the ghosts on the tablecloth.

You can see the 23 other Halloween tablescapes that I have created here. (Scroll down to Halloween.)

Pumpkins on a Fall Tablescape

September 14, 2023 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I had been thinking about a Fall tablescape without a tablecloth ever since I found these pumpkin placemats last year. This table started out one direction and ended up going another one as they sometimes do depending on how things mesh together.

I really love these pumpkin salad plates and I try to use them on at least one Fall tablescape every year. I bought them several years ago at Sur La Table online. I had been looking for a good pumpkin plate for some time and they were the perfect color.

I bought these Mason stoneware dinner plates at Pottery Barn online a few years ago. The color was called wheat. I really like this plate and I am thinking about buying it in another color. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

I bought these pumpkin woven chargers at Pottery Barn online a few years ago at the end of the season when they were on sale. I knew I would be using them on a Fall tablescape someday.

This marblelized light brown and cream flatware set is marked EM3 Inox 18/10, Made in Italy. I can’t remember where I bought the set online, I have had it for a few years. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I can’t remember where I bought these pumpkin napkins online, I have had them for several years. The pumpkin napkin rings came from Williams Sonoma online a few years ago. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

These resin rattan pumpkin place card holders came from Hobby Lobby a few years ago. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

The amber glass goblet on the left came from Pier 1 on sale right before our store closed a few years ago. I love how tall they are. I think I bought the orange glass goblets on the right at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets that I bought when I started tablescaping. When I bought them I figured I wouldn’t use them that often but I am surprised at how often they appear on my tablescapes. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

This rattan pumpkin centerpiece came from Pottery Barn online a few years ago. I set it on an orange place mat that I have had for many years.

I am ready for Fall and cooler weather!
