A See America First Summer Tablescape

A different kind of informal tablescape this week that could be subtitled, “Let’s use a collection that has been stored in boxes for decades before we donate it”. Years ago I collected steins from all over the United States because I loved the colors and the graphics and we were taking driving trips across the country with the kids. I found them on Ebay from time to time. I have been wanting to use these steins on a tablescape before I donated them (I have about 20 more that I didn’t use here from other states and attractions). I decided to look for a United States map tablecloth to help create an America travel theme tablescape. I found this tablecloth on sale at Spoonflower online a few months ago. I chose it because the colors matched some of the colors on the steins.

I chose the plate stack colors based on the colors on the map tablecloth. This salad plate is Fiesta’s Bistro pattern in the color Ivory. I bought them a few months ago at Fiesta Factory Direct online.

I was looking through all my blue dinner plates a few weeks ago and I realized that I didn’t have any baby blue dinner plates. I did a Google search and I found these porcelain ones on Amazon last month. They were made by Madam Marble. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

I bought these iced glass sage green chargers at Pier 1 several years ago after I saw them on another blog. I love using them in the spring and fall. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers click here.

I have used this frosted green flatware set often in the past few months. If you read my blog you have seen it recently on a few different tablescapes. The pattern was called Madeline Green and I bought the set at World Market several years ago. I really like the frosted design on the handles. After red, I think green flatware is the most used flatware color on my tablescapes because it can be used during both Spring and Fall. Each table setting on this tablescape has a different state for its theme. This is the Virginia table setting and I created a Virginia state napkin ring by attaching a Virginia puzzle piece to a green napkin ring I had. I got the puzzle piece from a United States map puzzle that I found on Etsy a couple of weeks ago. It is actually the same kind of puzzle that my children had when they were young. (My son and his family live in Virginia so I wanted to use that state for one of the settings.) I think the butterscotch colored cotton napkin probably came from World Market several years ago. These place card holder small state posters are actually stickers that I found on Amazon last month. I am using two clear place card holders to hold them here. The top one is a small rectangular acrylic stand that is made by Yalikop. I found them on Amazon. It is sitting on one of my Oleg Cassini clear glass place card holders. I bought the place card holders at HomeGoods several years ago when I first started tablescaping. They are heavy and solid and I really like the simple design. I really like the raised detail designs and the colors on all these steins. We took the kids to Williamsburg when they were young and it was a great trip. I know these steins are a bit odd serving as water glasses and wine glasses on this table but use your imagination!

I placed a post card from each state on the salad plate for added visual interest.

The back of the Tennessee stein has the Memphis Queen steamboat and Lookout Mts. Chattanooga on it.

The back of the Mount Rushmore stein has The South Dakota Badlands and Wall Drug Store. The back of the Corn Palace stein has Mount Rushmore on it. We took the kids to see Mount Rushmore on one of our trips across the country.

The front of the Grand Tetons stein has Little America, Wyoming and a penguin. I had to look up why there was a penguin on the stein. The Little America motel in Wyoming was built in a remote area not unlike the Little America base camp in the Antarctic.

The back of the Pike’s Peak stein has Seven Falls, the Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel, and North Pole on it. The back of the Rocky Mtn. Nat’l. Park stein has Big Thompson Canyon on it.

This is kind of a funky centerpiece but I wanted to use as many steins as possible on the table. I just love how they look.

This tablescape makes me want to hit the road again for another cross country trip!

A Summer Pizza Tablescape

The genesis for this Pizza tablescape started with these pizza napkins when I saw them on another blog a few months ago. I have done picnic themed tablescapes in the past with red and white gingham elements and I knew I could use some of the same elements on this tablescape. This red and white gingham tablecloth came from Sur la Table online several years ago. It is a heavy cotton material and I really like it.

These red and white plates were made by At Home with Marieke and the pattern was called Sarah. This pattern has been discontinued. It is one of my favorite plate patterns. I have this set in three different plate sizes and the gingham pattern is a different size for each plate size. I bought them online several years ago but I can’t remember where I found them.

This charger is the same brand as the dinner plate above. I love the bright red and white colors. It is large and heavy and I have used it before on Summer and Christmas table settings. This flatware set is called Milano Red Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years but it is still for sale. I am not sure where I bought it. I use it often when I need a more informal red flatware set for a tablescape. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These cotton pizza napkins were made by Urban Villa and I bought them on Amazon a month ago after I saw them on another blog. They set the theme for this tablescape. The napkin rings are small mirrors with different pizza designs on the back that I found on Etsy. I attached them temporarily to a red plastic napkin ring that I had. I found these pizza party favor boxes at Oriental Trading Company online a few weeks ago and when I saw them I knew I could use them as place card holders. I just love these red plastic cup goblets. I was telling my kids about them and they gave me a set as a gift a few years ago. They were made by Red Cup Living in 2013. This was one of the easiest centerpieces that I have created, buy a pizza, done! It is sitting on a red Pottery Barn drink dispenser stand that I have had for several years and often use as a base for centerpieces to make them taller.

I added two salt and pepper sets on each side of the centerpiece. This red set came from Amazon last week and it was made by Arrozon.

This red glass salt and pepper set was made by Mosser Glass. I bought this set online at The Vermont Country Store last year. The Mosser Glass Company was established in 1971 and it is located in Cambridge, Ohio. They sell high quality American made glassware and I love their products. I have a few sets of their goblets and a few cake stands too. If you read my blog you have seen their goblets on some of my tablescapes.

A Spring Flowers Tablescape

When I saw this Pacific and Rose flowered tablecloth online I knew that I wanted to create a green and blue flowered tablescape for Spring. Because of how busy the tablecloth is, I decided to keep the rest of the tablescape somewhat simple. Pacific and Rose has some really pretty table linens and you can purchase them online.

These simple white salad plates probably came from HomeGoods several years ago. They are marked elite, Gibson bone china.

These simple white dinner plates probably came from HomeGoods several years ago. They were made by Ralph Lauren and they are marked Club Porcelain.

These are my favorite white chargers. I bought them at Williams Sonoma several years ago and the pattern was called Antique Beaded. The beaded rim design always adds an additional bit of interest to a plate stack. It was one of the first chargers I bought nine years ago when I started tablescaping. A basic white charger is always a good purchase when you are starting a tablescaping collection.

My frosted green flatware set is a perfect match for this tablecloth. The pattern was called Madeline Green and I bought it at World Market several years ago. If you google frosted flatware and add the color you are looking for you will find similar sets. I use this green flatware often in the Spring and Fall. I can’t remember where I found these blue cotton napkins, I have had them for a long time. They are almost a linen like material. I found the white bow napkin rings online a few years ago at Tea with Grace, a web site that went out of business. If you Google bow napkin ring some others will pop out. These white place card holders can be written on as well with a special pen. Can’t remember where I bought them but it was probably Williams Sonoma or Crate and Barrel several years ago. It’s a nice simple place card holder, I have used it several times when I needed a simple white place card holder. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

The sage green acrylic goblet on the left came from our Pier 1 store before it closed a few years ago. We found the blue glass goblet on the right at Hobby Lobby last month. I was looking for a light blue glass goblet and these were perfect. I found these faux blue tulips on Amazon a few weeks ago. I put them in a vintage blue vase that I have had for many years that is unmarked. I wanted a bit more height so I set it on an upside down small white bowl.

I found this Mosser white milk glass salt and pepper set at Everything Kitchens online last year. I wanted a simple white salt and pepper set and I love this one. I set them on this table setting to help break up the busy tablecloth pattern.

I set this small vase on the other side of the centerpiece. Hubby traveled to 48 countries during his career for work and he would bring me a vase from every country he visited. This small porcelain vase came from France. It is marked Porcelaine de Paris. I decided to add it to this tablescape.

This was a quick tablescape to pull together. I had everything that is on the table already except for the flowers and the tablecloth. Normally I am gathering things for a tablescape over several months.

A Goat Tablescape

There is a story behind this Goat tablescape this week. My daughter and my grandson share the same birthday and my daughter loves goats and my grandson plays some kind of online game with goats. Because this was their birthday week I decided to create a surprise goat tablescape for their birthday party and then give all the goat stuff to my daughter (saves storage!). The goat tablecloth came from Spoonflower online, I got it on sale. I love their tablecloths, they are thick cotton, well made, and they iron beautifully.

It is not easy to find anything goat themed for a tablescape so I had to improvise a bit on this tablescape. I couldn’t find six matching goat salad plates that I liked so I found these wood goat figures on Etsy last month and Hubby spray-painted them white for me. I just set them on the salad plate. If you are looking for any kind of shape you can usually find it on Etsy made of wood or plastic.

10 Strawberry Street Black Appetizer Plate

These black plates are smaller than a normal sized salad plate. They are called tidbit plates or appetizer plates. They were made by 10 Strawberry Street and the pattern was called Classic Black Porcelain. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. I have basic black plates in several different sizes and shapes and I use them often on tablescapes. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying salad plates here.

Fiesta Shamrock Dinner Plate

This dinner plate was made by Fiesta and the color is Shamrock. I bought them at Macys a few years ago but this color has been discontinued. You probably can find some online on the secondary market. I have this plate in other colors as well. It is a good basic dinner plate for your plate stack. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

Charge It by Jay Starburst Black Glass Charger

This black glass Starburst charger is called Charge It and it was made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. A black charger with a simple design is a good starter charger plate if you are thinking about starting a tablescaping hobby. Lenox Portola Black Flatware

I wanted another set of black flatware that was all black and different from my black Ginkgo International LePrix set to use on my Halloween tablescapes and I found this set on sale at Macy’s online last year. It was made by Lenox and the pattern is called Portola. I love the simple design and the shiny black color. I suspect this set will get a lot of use. A different kind of homemade casual napkin ring! These black barn shaped napkin rings came from Amazon several years ago. They were tin and Hubby painted them black for me. I added a small plastic goat that I found on Etsy. I probably bought the green polyester napkins online somewhere. I have had them for a few years. I think I found these small red barns with tin roofs at Hobby Lobby last year. They are actually Christmas ornaments but I cut off the string. If you are looking for place card holders always check out the Christmas ornament section of stores but make sure the ornament can stand alone. The green goblet on the left came from Macy’s a couple years ago. The name is Qualia Glass Meridian. I really like the height and the beautiful green color. The goblet with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a few years ago. This goat cookie jar started the idea for this tablescape. I found it online last year at Beekman 1802 after doing a Google search. I was so tickled to find it! It had a blue and white gingham ribbon but I changed it out to a yellow one to match the yellow in the tablecloth. I set it on a small black glass cake stand that I probably bought at HomeGoods several years ago.
