Black Cats on a Halloween Tablescape

October 02, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I put this Black Cat Halloween Tablescape together a few years ago but it was all black and white and there were many black and white pumpkins on the table too. It was really too crowded so I simplified it this time. The white tablecloth probably came from HomeGoods or Amazon several years ago and I found the black and white print placemats at Pier 1 several years ago.

222 Fifth Wiccan Lace

These appetizer plates were made by 222 Fifth and the pattern was called Wiccan Lace. This small appetizer plate set came with a cat, a witch, a skull, and a haunted house. You can see the haunted house salad plate on a Halloween tablescape that I did a few years ago here. I bought the sets several years ago on Ebay. You can still find them for sale online from time to time especially on Ebay. I love all the small details you can see in the design when you look at it closely.

This is the salad plate in the same pattern, made by 222 Fifth and called Wiccan Lace. I love all the details on this plate. It repeats the same patterns that are on the appetizer plates. I bought them on Ebay also several years ago, a few at a time as I saw them. You can see the same plate on another Halloween tablescape that I did a few years ago here.

This heavy plastic orange dinner plate is a favorite of mine. If you read my blog you have seen it more than once during Halloween season. I love this plate, the vivid orange color, the ruffles on the lip, and the heavy melamine design all make it a perfect plate for Halloween. I bought them several years ago online at Dillards.com and they were called Summer Oasis Zoie Vintage Dinner Plate.

2021.10.05d.jpg

These black glass Starburst chargers are called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. The photo is a bit weird, not sure why the plate was elongated so much.

Ginkgo International LePrix Black Flatware

This black stainless flatware set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had it for years, I’m not sure where I bought it. You can still find it for sale online. It gets a lot of use this time of year. I often repeat myself in these blog posts but I do that because I have new readers every week. You can see this flatware set on a black buffalo print Thanksgiving tablescape that I did here.

2021.10.05f.jpg

I had someone on Etsy make the black cat napkins and I found the metal black cat napkin rings there as well. I love the cat faces on the napkins.

2021.10.05h.jpg

The plastic black cat place card holders are magnetic and I found them on Etsy too. Such a clever design, it looks like they just cut a small plastic cat in half and glued a magnet to each side.

2021.10.05i.jpg

The orange goblet on the left was one of the first goblets I bought many years ago, I think I bought them at Ross or T.J. Maxx. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I sure do this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this design in bright colors. You have seen these goblets more than once on my Halloween tablescapes and I use them on Fall tables sometimes as well. The goblet on the right with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and it is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a couple of years ago. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection here.

I found the three black cats for the centerpiece at HomeGoods on different trips there several years ago. I love the large shiny one, it was the perfect size for this tablescape. Every time I go to HomeGoods I am thinking about what I might see that would make a good centerpiece.

2021.10.05j.jpg

I love the expression on this small black cat figure. I think I bought it many years ago at a gift shop that is now closed. I added it to the table for a bit of added interest.

2021.10.05k.jpg

Took me a bit of time to find this salt and pepper set. It is clearly time to inventory my salt and pepper sets. I looked at the bins where most of them are stored with no luck and then suddenly remembered that I have another smaller bin of them under the desk in my study. They are perfect for this tablescape.

Jack-O'-Lanterns on a Halloween Tablescape

September 25, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Halloween tablescapes are some of my favorite table settings to create, combining black and orange together immediately creates a festive look on the table. This tablecloth probably came from HomeGoods several years ago. I picked it to match the square salad plates.

I found these jack-o’-lantern square salad plates on Ebay earlier this year. They are a heavy ceramic and they were made by inHomestylez. I love all the different facial expressions.

This is a Fiesta square dinner plate in the color Tangerine. I really love this color but it has been discontinued. It is the perfect plate for a Halloween tablescape. I used it on a books themed Halloween tablescape three years ago. You can see that tablescape here. I bought these plates online from Replacements.com a few years ago. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

I needed a basic square black charger and I found these on Amazon a few years ago. They are melamine and they were made by American Atelier. I think you can find similar ones online. If you are a Tablescaper, it’s a good idea to have basic plates in neutral colors that you can use over and over again on your plate stacks.

I wanted another set of black flatware that was all black and different from my Ginkgo International LePrix set to use on my Halloween tablescapes this year and I found this set a few years ago on sale at Macy’s online. It was made by Lenox and the pattern is called Portola. I love the simple design and shiny black color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These black cotton napkins came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. They are a really nice cotton fabric. The jack-o’-lantern napkin rings came from Ebay a few years ago. I like jack-o’-lanterns with friendly facial expressions.

I found these Department 56 Mercury Glass Jack-O’-Lantern place card holders on Ebay a few years ago. I love place card holders, they can add such a fun element to a themed tablescape.

I think I bought these orange goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets I bought when I started tablescaping. I love using them this time of year. I have black goblets that are shorter than this goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon this past Spring. It said that they are disposable but I plan to keep them for a while until I can find some black glass ones that are the same height. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

I found this jack-o’-lantern blowmold on Mercari online a few years ago. I love using it on my Halloween tablescapes. I can’t believe I found such a perfect Halloween centerpiece. I’m not sure how old it is but it looks vintage. I have had really good luck finding unusual things on Mercari. I wanted it to sit a bit taller on the table so I set it on a small black glass cake stand I have. I think I found the cake stand at HomeGoods several years ago. I used this same centerpiece on a vintage style Halloween tablescape a few years ago. You can see that Halloween tablescape here.

I truly love working on Halloween tablescapes, they are some of my favorites to create.

Black Widows on a Tablescape

September 18, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This is a tablescape that I did in 2015 but the photos were terrible, it was at the beginning of my tablescaping hobby, I wasn’t blogging then, and the table was full of clutter. I did a smaller version in 2019 for a charity event but I have been wanting to redo the original design for several years. The white polyester tablecloth probably came from Amazon or TableclothsFactory online a few years ago. The black, red, and white spider quilted table topper came from Etsy several years ago. I have a constant battle with black widow spiders on our back patio but they hate peppermint so I mix a bit of peppermint oil in water and spray it around and they often move on. I know this tablescape won’t be to everyone’s liking but I think it’s important to change things up a bit once in a while and I want to celebrate the creative work that was done on all the black widow spider items on this table.

Since it has been seven years since I did this tablescape the first time I can’t remember what caused me to create a table setting with black widow spiders. I think I may have seen these hand painted black widow spider salad plates on Etsy and the table design grew from there. I love the clean crisp design, the black lines really stand out against the white.

The photo distorts the shape of these square black glass appetizer or tidbit plates a bit. We found them somewhere in Virginia while we were visiting our son and his family a few years ago. They were made by Luminarc France. They were really inexpensive so I bought some white ones as well.

Using our everyday red dinner plates on this tablescape. They are made by Fiesta and the color is Scarlet. When we remodeled the kitchen several years ago and I picked white with red accents as the color scheme, we bought this new set of dishes. I still love the bright red color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

I bought these black and white chargers at Crate and Barrel several years ago. They were some of the first chargers that I bought. I just really liked the lace like design on them. The edge kind of reminds me of spider webs so I added them to this tablescape.

This flatware is made by D & D Inox in Italy and the pattern is called Roma. I bought them at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale several years ago. There are similar frosted patterns available online now. I really like the marbleized design on the handles and the stainless quilted design. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These white cotton napkins came from Pier 1 several years ago. The black metal spider web napkin rings came from Amazon a few years ago.

These metal black widow spider place card holders came from Pottery Barn several years ago. I bought the same design painted like red ants but Hubby painted those black for me and I used them on a Picnic themed tablescape a few years ago. You can see that tablescape here.

I think these red glass goblets came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. I had been looking for some simple red goblets and grabbed these when I saw them online. Now I wish I had ordered more of them. I found the hand painted black widow spider goblets on Etsy several years ago. They were made by the same person who created the black widow spider salad plates. It is a clever design, there is a spider web on the back as well as the spider on the front. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection here.

I can’t remember where I bought the tall glass cloche, I have had it for several years. I bought all the spiders that I attached to it on Etsy several years ago. Some of them are pins. I bought the red pillar candle on Amazon a few years ago. I have had the small white plastic stand for several years and I don’t remember where it came from, probably HomeGoods.

I have had these black spider candle holders for many years, can’t remember where they came from online. I always have a stash of tea light candles on hand for when I need them for tablescapes.

I really don’t like spiders at all, and I especially dislike black widow spiders. We have them in our garden and I wish they would disappear but I do like this tablescape. I haven’t seen one like it before.

Leaves on a Fall Tablescape

September 11, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Every Fall I have to create at least one Fall tablescape with a fall leaves theme. I have done one every year for the past several years, even before I started blogging. This is a fairly simple tablescape. I have had this green tablecloth for a couple of years, I bought it on Amazon. I love this color for a Fall tablecloth or for Thanksgiving. I used it on one of my Thanksgiving tablescapes a couple years ago. It is a green tweed color, brighter than this photo shows and it is perfect for the Fall season.

2021.08.26a (2).jpg

I found these ceramic leaf plates at a wholesale discount holiday warehouse several years ago. I got in because my sister-in-law had a membership card. They are marked Tii Collections on the bottom. I love the different colors on the leaf. Next time I use them I might use the deep pinkie purple on the bottom instead of the green tones on this table.

2021.08.26b (2).jpg

This green stoneware dinner plate came from Pier 1 several years ago. It was part of their Spice Route series and each color was called a different spice. This one was called Clove. I love this plate for Fall and Thanksgiving tablescapes and if you read my blog you see it often during those times of the year. You can see this plate on a Red Barn themed tablescape that I did last year here.

2021.08.26c (2).jpg

I bought these iced glass sage green chargers at Pier 1 several years ago after I saw them on another blog. I love using them in the spring and fall. You can see this charger on a Sunflower tablescape that I did a few years ago here. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers click here.

2021.08.26d.jpg

I am using my Madeline Green flatware on this table setting, I bought it at World Market several years ago. I really like the frosted design on the handles. After red, I think green flatware is the most used flatware color on my tablescapes because it can be used during both the Spring and Fall seasons. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

2021.08.26e.jpg

I bought these fall leaves napkins on Etsy several years ago. I found the metal fall leaf napkin rings online at The Country Village Shoppe a few years ago. They were made by Park Designs and they came in four different colors.

2021.08.26f.jpg

I found these metal maple leaf place card holders on Etsy a few years ago.

2021.08.26g.jpg

The orange amber glass goblet on the left came from HomeGoods a few years ago. it doesn’t have a maker’s mark. The green acrylic goblet on the right came from our Pier 1 store before they closed a few years ago. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection here.

2021.08.26h.jpg

I was looking for a long wooden box that I could use as a centerpiece a few years ago and when I found one that I liked on Etsy the cost for shipping it was ridiculous so I showed the photo to Hubby and he built this one for me. He also built another one that is a bit larger too. I filled it with faux pumpkins and gourds and leaves that I have collected over the years and added two green candles. When I started tablescaping I bought lots of candles in all different colors and sizes so I would have them when I needed them. I usually find them on Amazon or at HomeGoods. I used this same centerpiece on another Fall tablescape a few years ago but everything else on the table was different. You can see that tablescape here.
