Flowers on a Spring Tablescape

I have had this flower tablecloth for a few years, I think I bought it at HomeGoods. I was organizing my tablecloths a bit a few weeks ago and I saw it and I decided to plan a Spring tablescape around it. My flower pots are full of color and Spring is here!

Sur La Table Jardin Floral Plates

I like to check the Sur La Table website online from time to time, I have bought salad plates and napkin sets from them on sale in the past. Sometimes they have really cute plate designs. I found these small Jardin Floral porcelain appetizer plates there last month and they looked just like Spring to me. I like all the different flower colors and designs. They are a great addition to this Spring Tablescape.

I have an extra plate on this plate stack. This melamine lemon yellow salad plate was made by Reston Lloyd and it is part of their Calypso Basics collection. They are available on Amazon.

Fiesta Shamrock Dinner Plates

This Fiesta dinner plate is one of my favorite green dinner plates. The color is Shamrock and it is such a pretty bright green. I use it often on tablescapes. I probably bought them at Macy’s several years ago. I have this plate in several different colors and I wish I had more! You can see this dinner plate on my Grinch Christmas Tablescape here.

This is a Color Spectrum charger by Mikasa, the color is Sun Yellow. I bought these chargers on Ebay a few at a time because I love the quality and the colors. I have them in several different colors now.

This flatware is called Madeline Green and I bought it at World Market many years ago. If you google frosted flatware and add the color you are looking for you will find similar sets. I use this flatware often in the Spring and Fall on my tablescapes. Several years ago somone asked me where it came from and when I told them World Market they insisted that I was wrong. I had to go back online and find an ad before they would believe me…weird! Why would I make that up! I had to laugh! I knew I wanted some kind of yellow napkins for this tablescape. I found these cotton yellow polka dot napkins on Etsy last year. I love their cheerful color and design. Polka dots always say fun to me. I have had the beaded flower napkin rings for a long time. I bought them when I started tablescaping and I can’t remember where they came from.

I really love these small white vase place card holders. I bought them on Amazon a couple years ago. The flowers came from my garden this morning. The green place cards came from Amazon. You can read my blog post for ideas about how to store napkin rings and place card holders here.

The green goblet on the left came from Macy’s a few years ago. The name is Qualia Glass Meridian. I see Bed, Bath & Beyond and Amazon have them too. I like the height and the beautiful green color. It can be difficult to find yellow glass goblets that don’t have a gold tint to them so when I saw these yellow goblets on Etsy last year I immediately bought them. I found the yellow vase on Ebay a few years ago. I filled it with a bouquet of faux flowers. I have a few plastic bins full of different faux flowers that I have gathered over the years to use on my tablescapes.

I added a few pieces of my green Depression Glass in the Circle pattern to the table. I found them over the years at antique malls and on Ebay. You can see a tablescape that I created using pink Depression Glass in Anchor Hocking’s Pink Lace Edge or Old Colony pattern here.

I love yellow! This tablescape makes me happy.

White Bunnies on a Spring Easter Tablescape

This tablescape is the second Spring Easter Tablescape that I have done for this year. You can see last week’s Spring Easter tablescape here. This Spring Easter Tablescape is a repeat of one I did in 2018 before I started blogging. I made just a few small changes to it. I have a few other tablescapes that I did several years ago that I never blogged about that I will post eventually. I can’t remember where the green and white plaid tablecloth came from but it was probably HomeGoods several years ago.

This ironstone egg shaped Easter salad plate came from Pier 1 several years ago. I love the flowers and the white bunny silhouette as well as the beaded rim. The bead rim design matches the bead rim design on the chargers. The green flowers match the other green colors on the table and I matched the blue flower color with the blue dinner plate.

This blue melamine dinner plate came from Pier 1 several years ago. The pattern was called Charlotte. I like plates like this with an interesting lip design.

This white charger was one of the first charger sets I bought when I started tablescaping. The pattern is Antique Beaded and I bought them at Williams Sonoma several years ago. I use this charger constantly in my table settings. If you look back through my blog at my tablescapes, you will see it often. A simple white charger is a great first purchase if you want to create more interest on your table settings. You can see this charger on a Winter Snowflake Tablescape here.

This green placemat probably came from Pier 1 several years ago before our store closed. I have several of these in several different colors. This is one of my favorite green colors, it is actually a bit brighter than this photo shows.

I bought this frosted blue flatware on sale online at Wayfair a few years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the bright blue frosted color and the simple design. I think these bright green and bright blue cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods several years ago. They are a perfect match for the flowers on the salad plate. I found these white bunny ears place card holders on Amazon a couple weeks ago. They were made by AuldHome. They are write-on, wipe-off and can be used over and over again.

The green goblet on the left came from Pier 1 several years ago, I use them several times a year. I like how tall they are and the simple spiral design. The blue goblet on the right is Le Stelle crystal and it was made in Italy. I like the etched design with the butterflies and flowers. I found them at HomeGoods several years ago. This white bunny centerpiece came from Pottery Barn several years ago. I had seen this bunny on someone’s blog post and I knew it would be perfect for Easter tablescapes. I put a few plastic Easter eggs in the basket and set it on a green drink dispenser stand from Pottery Barn that I bought several years ago. I scattered small blue glass Easter eggs around that I bought online from Oriental Trading Company several years ago.

I added a small bunny salt and pepper set to the table.

Blue and green are fun colors for a Spring Easter Tablescape.

Bunnies and Carrots on a Spring Easter Tablescape

This Easter tablescape is a variation of one I did in 2019. You can see that tablescape here. I made several changes to it and you can see how I changed the style and feel of the tablescape from that one to this one. I found the tablecloth at HomeGoods a few years ago. It is made by Three Little Bunnies, Farmer’s Market. I bought the matching napkins too but I decided not to use them on this table setting because the tablecloth is so busy and I wanted some solid color to break it up a bit.

When I found the carrots tablecloth I remembered that I had these plates with bunnies and carrots on them so I decided to do a bunnies and carrots Easter table setting. I found these melamine bunny salad plates at HomeGoods several years ago. They are labeled L N T, LinensNThings. I love the fluffy brown bunny, all the flowers, and the egg shape of the plate.

Fiesta Shamrock Dinner Plate

I love the green color of these Fiesta dinners plates, the color is called Shamrock. (This color has been discontinued.) I have this plate in a few different colors and I use them frequently on my plate stacks. I probably bought them at Macy’s online or the Fiesta site online. I have had them for several years. I picked this plate for this table setting because it matches the green in the tablecloth. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

This white charger is my Antique Beaded charger from Williams Sonoma that I bought several years ago. It is often my go to charger when I need a white charger.

Frosted Green Madeline Flatware

Seems like every time I use this frosted green flatware I get questions and comments about it. It is called Madeline Green and I bought it at World Market several years ago. If you google frosted flatware and add the color you are looking for you will find similar sets. I use this green flatware often in the Spring and Fall. I think these orange and green cotton napkins probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods several years ago. I picked these colors because they matched the tablecloth and they reminded me of carrots. I found the bunny napkin rings on Amazon a few years ago. I wanted a bunny holding a carrot napkin ring and there these were!

I smile every time I see these metal carrot place card holders. I found them on Ebay after doing a Google search for carrot place card holders. They popped right out.

Qualia Green Meridian Goblet

The green goblet on the left came from Macy’s a few years ago. The name is Qualia Glass Meridian. I like the height and the beautiful green color. I think I bought the orange goblets on the right at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets that I bought when I started tablescaping. When I bought them I figured I wouldn’t use them that often but I am surprised at how often they appear on my tablescapes. They are a great match for all the carrots on this tablescape. I have had this bunny figure for many years and I can’t remember where it came from but I think I bought it with a similar one online somewhere. When the kids were living at home I used to do major decorating for all holidays. The bunny is sitting on a green drink dispenser stand that I bought at Pottery Barn many years ago.

When I was searching for bunnies and carrots on Amazon a few years ago I found these two sets of salt and peppers and I couldn’t resist buying them for this tablescape. This one was made by Cosmos Gifts. Hubby says this one is the best part of this tablescape. Lol!

I love the green and orange color combination on this tablescape, it is perfect for Spring!

Storage for Your Tablescape Collections

I was asked to write a brief post about storage on a tablescaping Facebook site that I belong to and I decided to add more content and post it on my blog too. If you read my blog you saw this photo before with a blog post about storing napkin rings and place card holders. I decided to repeat that information in this post and add content about the storage of other tablescaping items. To start, I have been tablescaping for about 16 years. We are empty nesters and I have taken over some of the space that our three children used when they lived at home.

Tablescape Storage for Napkins and Place Card Holders

My system evolved as my collection increased in size. This is a photo of a corner of my study. While it isn’t a particularly pretty area, it works very well for me and I am the only one who comes in here most of the time. I spend a lot of my time in here on the computer doing genealogical research and planning tablescapes. Online you will see gorgeous photos of shelves with perfectly staged minimalist decor, that’s not me. I like to be surrounded by all my bits and pieces. This room was my daughter’s bedroom until she grew up and moved out, it isn’t very large. We added custom built in floor to ceiling book shelves mostly for all my genealogy books but many of them were out of date so I weeded the collection to create space for my napkin rings and place card holders. I use clear shoe box sized plastic containers and I label the end. I like them because I can see what is inside. We bought them on Amazon and at The Container Store. If I were a perfectionist I would create and print out labels to use but I just wanted to get them organized quickly so I could find things. Before they were scattered all over the house and I wasted a lot of time looking for things.

The containers are arranged by holiday, theme, or color because that is the way I create tablescapes. These are some of my Christmas napkin rings and place card holders. Keep in mind I have been tablescaping for 16 years, lots of stuff! I have inventoried all of these napkin rings and place card holders. Each one has a photo and a record of how many I have. I have the information stored in folders on my computer. The folders are arranged by holiday, theme, or color. I can easily look at the photos and think about the tablescape that I want to create. I am still working on inventorying other tablescape items. People often ask me how many I have of things and I always say I don’t know. Once I have inventoried them I do know but I don’t say!

We had the custom book shelves turn the corner and had them put a large desk area in the corner for me so I could spread out all my paperwork when I am doing genealogy research. It created a large deep space underneath the desk and to the right you can see more containers of napkin rings and place card holders. To the left are boxes of table scatter and other miscellaneous table decorations. To the left of the boxes are my containers of flatware. I will talk about them next.

Tablescape Storage for Flatware

I store my sets of flatware in clear containers as well. They are easy to see. I tried to keep them alphabetical by color but I finally gave up because they are in constant use and the colors move around. I am fortunate to have all this space under a large desk and out of the way. (My sterling is in silverware chests and hidden elsewhere.) When you are thinking about storage look down and up for ideas.

Tablescape Storage for Dishes and Goblets

My dishes and goblets are stored in the garage on racks that Hubby reinforced because of all the weight. This is a part of my charger collection. When I started tablescaping I decided that storage of the item was just as important as the item itself and I needed to buy whatever was needed to protect it. I have labeled on the lid or the box label what is in the container even if the container has a window. When I started tablescaping I bought the containers at our local Container Store but they were discontinued so I moved to Amazon. I buy a brand called Household Essentials China storage. (Keep in mind that they are made of cardboard and canvas.) If I had a huge house I would definitely have a dish room but this works for me.

The containers come in different sizes depending on the size of the dish or goblet.

The racks came from our local Costco and Hubby bought the heavier wheels at our Harbor Freight store. He added a wood base for more support. Because of the wheels I can move the racks around by myself although they are very heavy. (We have been married 50 years this year and we have never put a car in the garage since the beginning. There was always too much other stuff in there! Hubby does woodworking and we used to camp often.) We live in Southern California so the cars can sit out in the driveway. A few of these racks could sit along the interior garage wall easily if necessary as long as they could be swung out to reach the other side when needed.

Tablescape Storage for Tablecloths

In the top of each of our closets was a long shelf that was about 12” wide. I suddenly realized that I could double the space by having Hubby build another shelf just like it in front of it. You can see under the shelf in this photo how he used a bracket to join the two pieces of wood together. This additional space allows me to add a double row of stacked tablecloths.

My tablecloths are arranged by holiday, season, and color just like my napkin rings and place card holders. I have also taken photos of each one and put them in folders on my computer. You can see in the photo how I can store two stacks with the increased width of the shelving. I suspect that some might bring up the fact that these tight folded stacks are not good for the fabric but there is constant movement with them (I do a new tablescape every week) and from time to time I refold the tablecloths in a different pattern.

In one of the closets I only added the additional width to the top shelf and I left the bottom shelf as is.

The ideal storage for tablecloths would be to hang them in a closet on a special hanger like this one that I bought on Amazon however I have way too many tablecloths to store them like this. I do use these hangers for a few really heavy tablecloths like this one.

This is another special hanger from Amazon that you could use for tablecloth storage if you have the closet space. I use them to hang all my table runners.

Tablescape Storage for Napkins

My napkins are stored just like my tablecloths. I do take a photo of the entire back row of each shelf before I add the front row so I know where napkins are when I am looking for them. I do the same for tablecloths.

Storing tablescaping items by holiday, season, and color saves so much time when you are looking for something. You can see my fall napkins on the bottom shelf in one stack and my patriotic napkins on the top shelf in another stack. To choose what I am looking for I can either look in the appropriate folder on my computer or look at the stack on the shelf.
