Rainbows on the Tablescape

February 20, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

When I saw this tablecloth on Amazon I remembered these striped salad plates I have and I decided to try to create a rainbow themed tablescape. This tablecloth was made by Ambesonne and I have bought several of that brand on Amazon in the past and they were all perfect. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend buying this one because there is a factory defect in it, a long crease that wouldn’t come out no matter what I tried. You can see it faintly running diagonally across the tablecloth but I decided to use it anyway because I really wanted it for this tablescape. I bought a second one hoping it would be ok but it had the same problem. Ambesonne has other rainbow themed tablecloth designs so you could get one of those instead if you want one with a rainbow theme.

I bought these melamine striped salad plates on sale at Pier 1 several summers ago. They reminded me of beach balls and I was going to use them on a beachie summer tablescape but I never got it pulled together. When I bought the tablecloth I figured these plates would either work with it or they wouldn’t and I got lucky. It took Hubby a while to find the plates because they were in with another set of plates and buried on a lower rack in the garage. I knew they were somewhere! They have some of the same colors as the tablecloth and that helps pull the two elements together.

I decided to emphasize the greens on this tablescape and we pulled my Fiesta dinner plates in the color Lemongrass to put under the striped salad plates on the plate stack. I bought them a few years ago at Macys or online on the Fiesta site, I can’t remember which. I really like Fiesta dinner plates and salad plates. They are bright colors and they are the perfect basic building blocks for a plate stack.

This charger is another one of my Color Spectrum chargers made by Mikasa, the color is Royal Blue. I bought them a few at a time on Ebay over several months. I have them in several colors. These are actually some of my favorite chargers. I love the strong solid colors and they are good quality.

2021.02.19e.JPG

I have this Ginkgo International Le Prix flatware in black and red and last fall I added yellow and this color called persimmon. I can’t remember where I bought the set online.

2021.02.19d.JPG

The lime green napkins were made by Fiesta. I think they came from Macys several years ago. I bought the rainbow napkin rings on Amazon a few years ago. I put the napkin rings and napkins on the table and I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t look right. I suddenly realized that I had the rainbows upside down, it was an easy fix!

2021.02.19f.JPG

I couldn’t find a rainbow place card holder so I decided to use my Oleg Cassini clear glass place card holders because the tablecloth colors would show through. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago when I first started tablescaping. They are heavy and solid and I really like the simple design. It’s handy to have a clear place card holder to use when you don’t have one to match your colors and theme. Whatever color or colors the tablecloth is will show through.

2021.02.19g.JPG

I found the purple goblets at HomeGoods a few years ago. I was able to get six at one store and six at another store. I am not sure who made them. I bought the green spiral glass goblets at Pier 1 several years ago. If you read my blog you have seen these green goblets several times on my tablescapes. These are both taller goblets and I like the height. I try to buy taller goblets now. They show better on my tablescapes because I have a large table.

2021.02.19i.JPG

I knew I wanted the centerpiece on this table to be some kind of rainbow image so I googled rainbow vase. I found many beautiful glass rainbow vases, all too expensive. Then I found this inexpensive one on Etsy. I bought it and decided that I would figure out what to put in it after it came. I knew I didn’t want to use flowers of any kind. I searched rainbow on Amazon and these multi-colored pipe cleaners popped out. It was the kind of unusual design that I was looking for, simple but effective, and the pipe cleaners mirror the stripes on the tablecloth and the salad plates. A bit odd but I like it!

I love rainbows and all the bright colors on this table. (My son says I need to set it again for Cinco de Mayo.)

Hearts and Roses on a Valentine’s Day Tablescape

February 13, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This was going to be a black and pink Valentine’s Day tablescape. As you can see, it ended up as something very different. That is often how things go with tablescaping. I found the tablecloth on Amazon several years ago, Ambesonne Shabby Flora Tablecloth, and I loved the pink roses so I bought it. My mother loved roses and I have a soft spot for them myself although I only have a few miniature roses. My garden is mostly full of geraniums and day lilies because they are really easy to grow.

2021.02.11a.jpg

I was searching online a few years ago for a pink heart salad plate and this one popped out. It was made by Pfaltzgraff and the pattern was called Tea Rose. As soon as I saw it I decided to go a different direction with this tablescape and I dropped the black idea and added roses to the theme. I remembered the roses tablecloth so I pulled it out to use.

2021.02.11b.jpg

If you read my blog you have seen my red Cambria chargers from Pottery Barn several times. They are one of my favorite chargers to use on my tablescapes. I think Pottery Barn is discontinuing this pattern so over the past few years I have added these chargers to my tablescaping collection in a few other colors including this celadon color. It is a somewhat neutral green color that goes well with several other colors including pink. It actually is serving as a dinner plate on this tablescape.

2021.02.11c.jpg

This pink frosted flatware set was made by Bugatti for Vietri and the pattern was Aladdin. I bought the set at Macys several years ago. I have several sets of frosted flatware, I really like the frosted design.

2021.02.11d.jpg

I bought the green napkin rings at Pier 1 a few years ago before the stores closed. The pink magnolia napkins are by Kate Spade, I found them on Ebay a few years ago. They actually don’t match the tablecloth but the colors and pattern are so similar that they work well together.

2021.02.11e.jpg

I found the small pink heart boxes online at Oriental Trading Company a few years ago. They could be used alone to lean a place card against or they could be used to hold party favors or both. I decided to use them as a stand for my rose place card holders to add some height to them. I bought these small pink rose place card holders a few years ago on Ebay. I love searching for vintage place card holders on Ebay, I have found some great ones over the years. These were called Georgian and according to the label, they are fine bone china. The mark on the bottom stands for Marks & Rosenfeld, a US giftware distributor in the 1950's and 1960's who commissioned their own range of ceramics and gift ware.

The green acrylic goblets came from our Pier 1 store before it closed several years ago. I looked for tall pink goblets for a couple of years and suddenly World Market had these a few years ago. They sold out quickly so others must have been looking for them too.

2021.02.11k.jpg

Hubby picked up these faux pink roses at Michael’s for me. I put them in a vintage pink pottery vase. I collected vintage pottery for a few years many years ago and this vase is part of that collection.

Snowflakes on a Winter Tablescape

February 06, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I knew I wanted to create a tablescape with a snowflake theme sometime. I had been looking for salad plates that were white and shaped like a snowflake for some time but the only ones I could find were too expensive. I have a white tablecloth with a snowflake design in it. I used it once on a tablescape my daughter and I did, you can see that tablescape here. I was planning a tablescape somewhat similar to that one with some different elements. But then I found this blue tablecloth with white snowflakes on Amazon several years ago. It was going to take too long to get here so I looked further and found it at Walmart online and I bought it there because it was going to ship faster. It is another Ambesonne tablecloth. I have several of them now, I love the strong graphics on their tablecloths. The blue color was tricky, I thought it would match many of my blue items but it turned out that many of the things I have were more in the turquoise color family and didn’t match the blues in this tablecloth. The colors here are more of a sky blue and baby blue color.

2021.02.03a.jpg

When I found these blue and white snowflake small plates on Ebay several years ago I had a feeling they would match the tablecloth perfectly and I was right. Sometimes the computer monitor doesn’t show the accurate color but in this case it was right on. They are melamine and they were made by Nicole Miller. I really love the shape of these plates and the design.

2021.02.03b.jpg

I bought these plain white salad plates at HomeGoods when I started tablescaping several years ago because I knew I would need some white plates of various sizes. The back of the plate is marked Gibson Elite bone china. I like the way this plate sets off the snowflake plate.

2021.02.03n.jpg

These melamine blue dinner plates came from HomeGoods a few years ago. They are labeled Artisan de Luxe Home. I really like the lip design on these plates, it is very different. I was lucky, these plates are a perfect match for the tablecloth and the snowflake plates.

2021.02.03o.jpg

I have a few different white chargers but this is the one I seem to use the most on my tablescapes. The beaded rim design always adds an additional bit of interest to the plate stack. This white beaded charger came from Williams Sonoma and it is called Antique Beaded. It was one of the first chargers I bought many years ago when I started tablescaping. A basic white charger is always a good purchase when you are starting a tablescaping collection.

2021.02.03c.jpg

I have had this frosted blue flatware set for several years. The flatware was made by D & D Inox in Italy. I bought it at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale several years ago. There are similar frosted patterns available online now. I have a frosted red flatware set from the same company with a different stainless design.

2021.02.03d.jpg

I have several different blue napkins but none of them were the right color for this tablecloth and it took two tries on Amazon before I got the right match. I needed this color for my napkin collection anyway. I wish computer monitors were better at showing colors correctly. I found the white porcelain snowflake napkin rings on Etsy. As soon as I saw them several years ago I knew they would be perfect for a snowflake winter tablescape.

2021.02.03k.jpg
2021.02.03e.jpg

I was googling snowflake place card holder several years ago and these blue snowflake ones popped up from Christmas Central online. I can’t believe how perfect they are for this tablescape, it was just meant to be!

2021.02.03f.jpg

I have very very tall white goblets but I had been looking for shorter ones for a long time. I finally found these white goblets at Walmart several years ago. They were made by Artland and the pattern is Veranda. I decided to use two goblets with this pattern at each place setting on this tablescape.

2021.02.03g.jpg

I was looking for some kind of large snowflake to use as a centerpiece and I found this foam snowflake on Etsy several years ago. I actually bought two and Hubby glued them together because I wanted it to be thicker and stand easily. I was going to have him paint it but I decided I liked the texture as it shows. It is sitting on a white wood snowflake cake stand I found on Amazon several years ago.

2021.02.03h.jpg

I wanted to add something small on each side of the centerpiece and I was looking through my Pinterest candle holder folders and suddenly found these white snowflake tea light candle holders. I had forgotten I had them. They came from Crate and Barrel several years ago.

It is always interesting how a tablescape design can start out going one direction and end up going a completely different way but I really like how this tablescape turned out.

A Valentine's Day Tablescape

January 30, 2021 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I did a Valentine’s Day tablescape with some of the same elements that are on this tablescape (you can see it here) but I mixed in different pieces this time. If you look at both you can see how I use the same elements on different tablescapes to create a totally different look. I bought this red tablecloth on Amazon, I have had it for several years. The three vintage Valentine hankies that I am using as a runner on this tablescape are from my vintage hankie collection.

2021.01.28l.jpg

I found these small red heart bowls with a beaded edge at HomeGoods several years ago. They were made by chantal.

2021.01.28c.jpg

White Milk Glass Plates

I bought these vintage Anchor Hocking white milk glass open heart lace edge salad plates on Ebay several years ago. They are fun plates to bring out for Valentine’s Day.

2021.01.28d.jpg

I love these whimsical red with white polka dots dinner plates. They were made by Maxwell & Williams and the pattern was called Sprinkle. I bought them online several years ago but I can’t remember where.

2021.01.28e.jpg

Anchor Hocking White Milk Glass Open Heart Lace Edge Plate

These vintage Anchor Hocking white milk glass open heart lace edge charger plates match the salad plates. I bought them on Ebay several years ago.

2021.01.28n.jpg

I bought this frosted white flatware set on sale online at Wayfair several years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes.

2021.01.28f.jpg

The white napkins with red hearts came from Pier 1 several years ago. I found the red metal heart napkin rings on Amazon. When the napkins have a busy pattern I like to use simple solid color napkin rings.

2021.01.28g.jpg

These place card holders are actually lucite heart napkin rings that I bought on Etsy a few years ago. I added a paper heart for a place card.

2021.01.28h.jpg

I am using my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets on this tablescape only this time I added the matching iced teas too. I really love this glassware. It is well made, heavy, and a true red color. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago.

2021.01.28i.jpg

This red heart shaped cardboard box centerpiece came from Target several years ago. I bought a smaller pink one too that I will use on a future tablescape.

2021.01.28j.jpg

I’m not sure where I bought the red glass pillar candle holders, I have had them for several years. They were some of the first ones I bought because I knew I would be creating many red tablescapes and I would need them. I added a white pillar candle. I have candles in several shapes and sizes to use when I need them on a tablescape.
