A Ready for 4th of July Tablescape

June 17, 2020 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Fourth of July is just around the corner so I decided to put together another 4th of July table. If you look at the different 4th of July tables I have done, you can see a few of the same elements I used this year on those table settings but I used different colors and combinations this year.

2020.06.17f.jpg

This salad plate is enamelware and it was made by Golden Rabbit. Can’t remember where I bought it but I have had it for several years.

2020.06.17h.jpg

This is a Fiesta salad plate in the color scarlet, it is part of our every day dishes set.

2020.06.17i.jpg

I bought these plates online several years ago at Ballard Designs, I think they were called Southern Living. They are about 11 1/2” in diameter, a good size to be either a dinner plate or a charger. I love plates that will work for either! You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

2020.06.17j.jpg

These chargers came from Pier 1 several years ago. I bought them in red, white, and blue. The red, white, and blue placemats came from Pier 1 too I think.

2020.06.17d.jpg

The napkins came from Sur la Table several years ago. I love that they match the stars in the tablecloth and on the salad plates, and the red stripes match the salad plate too! The beaded pinwheel napkin rings came from Pier 1 several years ago.

2020.06.17c.jpg

I bought the frosted white flatware on sale online at Wayfair several years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. I use this set often. If you are going to buy colored flatware, white is a good color to start with and then I would buy red, black and green. Those seem to be the colors I use the most. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

2020.06.17g.jpg

Using my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets again on this table. If I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. I bought these goblets years ago at HomeGoods. I love the fact that they are a bit taller than other goblets and the design goes with everything. I bought the cobalt blue goblets at Pier 1 several years ago. Many tablescapers buy plastic goblets like this design in many different colors at the Dollar Store. I buy tablescape items in sets of 6 or 12 and I never seem to be at Dollar Tree when they have that many in stock of any one color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

2020.06.17a.jpg

I finally remembered to take a photo of the tablecloth before I added everything. I love the design on this tablecloth, it is so festive and colorful!

2020.06.17e.jpg

I bought these patriotic place card holders online at Pier 1 several years ago.

2020.06.17k.jpg

I bought this flag stand online at Grandin Road several years ago. I really love the design, with all the flags it definitely makes a statement!

2020.06.17l.jpg

I have a weakness for small salt and pepper sets and when I saw these patriotic eagles online at Cracker Barrel several years ago I had to have them for this 4th of July table. I bought two sets and it looks like I switched them on the table and I have the two salts showing here. Lol!

A Strawberries for Dinner Summer Tablescape

June 10, 2020 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This strawberry tablescape is a repeat of one I did a few years ago. I bought the green gingham tablecloth on Amazon several years ago. I have had really good luck finding tablecloths there that are great quality and inexpensive. The red placemats came from Pier 1 several years ago before our store closed.

2020.06.10c.jpg

These melamine strawberry plates came from Sur La Table online a few years ago. They often have cute plates and I wait until the end of season sales and buy them then. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying salad plates here.

2020.06.10d.jpg

I added an extra plate to the plate stack for design purposes. The next plate down is from Pottery Barn, their Cambria pattern in red. It is a smaller version of the charger plate that is on the bottom. Because of its size, it can be used as a dinner plate or a salad plate. I love these plates and I use them often.

2020.06.10e.jpg

This dinner plate is made by Fiesta and the color is Lemongrass. I think I bought them at Macy’s several years ago. I have Fiesta dinner and salad plates in a few basic colors and I plan to buy more! You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

The bottom plate in the stack is a Cambria red charger plate from Pottery Barn. I use this charger often in my tablescapes. They were one of my first purchases when I started tablescaping several years ago. I later bought this charger plate in other colors as well. To read about what you should be considering when you are buying chargers please click here.

2020.06.10b.jpg

This flatware is made by D & D Inox in Italy. I bought it at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale a few years ago. There are similar patterns available online right now. This red set pops up quite a bit in my table settings. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

2020.06.10g.jpg

These strawberry napkins came from Sur la Table a couple years ago and they are a close match to these salad plates from there that I bought a few years ago. I bought the wood strawberry napkin rings on Ebay several years ago. I only have six, I wish I could find six more to match them. Ebay often has different strawberry napkin rings for sale. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

2020.06.10h.jpg

Can’t remember where I found the glass jar place card holders but it may have been online at Wayfair or one of the wedding supplies sites. I filled them with tiny strawberries but I couldn’t find enough to fill all the jars, still looking for more! I printed the place cards out from free online designs. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

2020.06.10i.jpg

I am using my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets on this table. If I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. I bought these red glass goblets years ago at HomeGoods. They are available on Ebay from time to time. The green spiral glass goblets came from Pier 1 several years ago, I use them several times a year. I like how tall they are and the simple design. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

2020.06.10j.jpg

This strawberry salt and pepper set and the strawberry cookie jar centerpiece came from HomeGoods a few years ago. They were made by Arlington Designs.

2020.06.10k.jpg

I have had this tiny plastic salt and pepper set for many years. I probably found it on Ebay. It isn’t marked. I just love their expressions!

2020.06.10l.jpg

I have had this small jam jar for a long time. It has a cute little spoon with a strawberry on it too. You can just see the tip of it. The jar is labeled MWW Market. I can’t remember where I bought it but it might have come from a wonderful gift shop near here that went out of business several years ago.

2020.06.10m.jpg

I usually don’t start planning a tablescape until I know for certain what the centerpiece will be because I struggle with that sometimes. I had been looking for a red strawberry cookie jar for a while but they were all too expensive or not the right color red. I finally found this one a few years ago at HomeGoods. I put it on one of my Pottery Barn Rhodes drink dispenser stands to give it a bit more height.

2020.06.10n.jpg

I love the bright red and lime green color combination!

2020.06.10o.jpg
2020.06.10p.jpg
2020.06.10.jpg

Now I’m ready for some strawberry shortcake!

A Mermaids coming for Dinner Tablescape

June 03, 2020 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I had been wanted to create a mermaid tablescape for a long time and I finally got it done. The camera is fighting with some of the colors on this Mermaid Tablescape unfortunately. For example, the goblets and the lime green napkins are actually a similar color tone but not in this photo! I love this unusual tablecloth, the blue colors change across the tablecloth. Doesn’t it look like waves coming into shore? It came from Amazon a few years ago.

2020.06.03b.jpg

These melamine mermaid salad plates were made by Cynthia Coulter Designs. I bought them a few years ago online at Wilford & Lee Home Accents. I used the colors on the plate to select the rest of the table colors.

2020.06.03c.jpg

This smaller square white dinner plate is unmarked, they probably came from HomeGoods. My plate collection is mostly round plates but I am trying to gather a few square ones in basic colors and sizes when I find them for a good price.

2020.06.03d.jpg

These seaglass square chargers came from Bealls online a few years ago. Turquoise and seafoam are two colors I struggle with, there are just so many different shades and tones for these two colors. It is always serendipity if I end up with two things that match! I suspect these plates aren’t going to match much else!

2020.05.20b (3).jpg

I bought this frosted white flatware on sale online at Wayfair a few years ago, it was made by Cambridge. I use it often in the summer on my Ocean themed tables. Here it is on my Crabby Table .

2019.05.07bjpg.jpg
2020.06.03e.jpg

These white mermaid napkins rings came from Walmart and Amazon a few years ago, they both had them. The lime green napkins were made by Fiesta, not sure where I got the blue napkins.

2020.06.03n.jpg
2020.06.03f.jpg

These clam shell place card holders were made by Andrea by Sadek. I bought them online a few years ago but I can’t remember where. You can see just a bit of them here on my Whale of a Table tablescape.

2019.07.31n.jpg
2020.06.03g.jpg

The green spiral goblets came from Pier 1 several years ago. They are some of my favorites. Unfortunately when I went to get them for this table, one was broken, so sad! The turquoise acrylic goblet on the left came from Pier 1, I have them in several colors.

2020.05.20i.jpg
2020.06.03.jpg

I was looking for a mermaid to use as a centerpiece for a long time. Hubby was at a nursery looking at plants and found this one, she was a gray concrete color but I knew I was going to paint her. My hubby would love to tell you how many different colors she was before I finally gave up trying to match sea greens and turquoises and just decided to paint her white! She is solid and really heavy (she weights 25 pounds) and she will probably end up somewhere in the garden eventually. Can’t remember where I got the netting, I’ve had it for a while.

2020.06.03h.jpg

I love shopping at Cracker Barrel, I wish there was one close to us. I found this mermaid salt and pepper set online there a few mouths ago.

2020.06.03i.jpg

I bought these small mermaids on Ebay a few years ago. I think they are supposed to be for fairy gardens.

Summertime means time at the ocean and I often create tables with ocean themes in the summer. You can see them here, https://www.whispersoftheheart.com/tablescapes , scroll down to the Ocean section. You probably have beachie elements around the house to gather to create your own table!

A Lobsters for Dinner Tablescape

May 27, 2020 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This tablescape idea started about a year ago when I found and bought some small melamine salad plates shaped like red lobsters. I had done some other sea creatures tablescapes and decided to do a lobster table too. I spent the next several months looking for items for the rest of the lobster table and found the napkins and place card holders this spring. Then I got out the lobster plates, and they were the wrong shade of red… So the hunt for a different lobster salad plate began. I think the denim blue tablecloth came from Crate and Barrel or Sur La Table several years ago.

2020.05.27c.jpg

When I am looking for a specific item for a tablescape (after I search Amazon) I often do a Google search for it because that pulls up lots of different examples for sale at various places for various prices. That’s what I did last month for these ceramic lobster salad plates. They popped out from Wayfair on sale. They were made by Certified International and they are called Nautical Life by Lisa Audit. They were just the colors I was looking for, I got lucky.

2020.05.27d.jpg

This dinner plate is part of our every day set of dishes. It is made by Fiesta and the color is Scarlet. If you read my blog you have seen Fiesta plates of various colors and sizes in many different tablescapes. I have bought them over the years on sale at Macys and on the Fiesta Factory Direct web site.

2020.05.27e.jpg

This charger is another one of my Color Spectrum chargers made by Mikasa, the color is Royal Blue. I bought them a few at a time on Ebay. I have them in several colors. These are actually some of my favorite chargers. I love the strong solid colors and they are good quality.

2020.05.27b.jpg

This Milano Red flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years but it is still for sale. Not sure where I bought it. I seem to use it often on tablescapes when I want something a bit more informal.

2020.05.27f.jpg

I bought these Kay Spade lobster napkins on Ebay after looking at many different designs online. I couldn’t find any red lobster napkin rings so I bought some small plastic lobsters online at Oriental Trading and some wooden rings and Hubby painted them and glued them together for me.

2020.05.27g.jpg
2020.05.27h.jpg

I found these vintage lucite and acrylic lobster place card holders after searching on Ebay. They were orange but Hubby painted them for me so they would match the other parts of the table setting. I love looking for vintage napkin rings and place card holders on Ebay. I find things that I would never find anywhere else.

2020.05.27k.jpg

And here again are my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets, I use them so often on different table settings. We bought them at HomeGoods a few years ago. I usually buy dishes and glassware in sets of 12 and I saw these and started putting them in my cart and after looking around I finally found 12, that was all they had. So many people have commented and asked about them. They are for sale on Ebay from time to time. I bought the same pattern in iced teas on Ebay later. I think I use this goblet more than any other goblet I have. The dark blue acrylic goblets came from Pier 1 on sale last month. It’s difficult to see but they have a rope design around the top of the goblet. It looks like they are sold out of them now since they are going out of business.

2020.05.27j.jpg

I looked for a year for some kind of red lobster to use as a centerpiece and finally bought this one on Etsy this spring. It is somewhat flat and is supposed to go on a wall but the metal bends and I knew I could put it on one of my large shells or fake coral. I think the fake coral came from HomeGoods several years ago. It was a weird beige color but Hubby painted it white for me soon after I bought it.

2020.05.27i.jpg

I wanted a bit more red on the table so I added my Fiesta salt and peppers. I had found some lobster salt and peppers but I forgot to order them! I’m thinking about buying a few more Fiesta sets of these salt and peppers in different colors because they are handy to have for table settings when you want to add a bit more pop of color.

020.05.27l.jpg
2020.05.27.jpg

Definitely need some lobster rolls for dinner!
