A Reindeer Sleigh Christmas Tablescape

December 04, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

This Reindeer Sleigh Christmas tablescape is a repeat of one I did several years ago with a couple minor changes. I bought the tablecloth and napkins at HomeGoods several years ago. It always signals the Christmas season when I see these colors together in a tablecloth. The Bordallo Pinheiro red Christmas plates are some of my favorite plates.

2019.12.04d.jpg

I just love the detailed relief design on these salad plates. I have several of these plates without the scalloped edge and only a couple with it so I am always watching for more. They came from Ebay, I bought a few at a time over the years.

2019.12.04b.jpg

The detailed pattern with poinsettias and holly around the edge of the dinner plates is so perfect for the holiday season. I also bought these a few at a time on Ebay over several years.

2019.12.04c.jpg

The charger was made with both a scalloped edge and a simple circular edge. I am still looking for more chargers with scalloped edges in this pattern. They came from Ebay as well.

2019.12.04e.jpg

The flatware is made by D & D Inox in Italy and the pattern is called Roma. I bought them at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale several years ago. There are similar patterns available online now. I really like the marbleized design on the handles. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

2019.12.04f.jpg

The wood reindeer napkin rings are probably vintage and I found them on Ebay several years ago. The tablecloth and napkins are a flannel material, just right for dinner on a cool evening. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

2019.12.04g.jpg

These reindeer lantern place card holders actually have a switch and they light up. I found them at Pier 1 several years ago. I was really sad that our Pier 1 store closed. I found some wonderful treasures there over the years. Their online store has a poor selection and everything is overpriced. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

2019.12.04h.jpg

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets for this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. If you read my blog you have seen this goblet on several tablescapes. I think that these smaller vintage ice tea glasses are a pattern called Fostoria Colonial Dame Green. This pattern was made from 1948-1964, I bought them on Ebay. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

2019.12.04k.jpg

I found this wonderful reindeer sleigh in a gift shop in Salt Lake City while I was on vacation there several years ago. That gift shop is closed now and I really miss what a great shop it was for finding unique holiday treasures. I filled the sleigh with one of the napkins and a grouping of pine cones and red and green ornaments.

I love a red and green color combination on a table this time of year. It is just so festive!

A Grinch on the Christmas Tablescape

November 27, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I have my daughter to thank for this Grinch tablescape from several years ago. She found the Grinch head centerpiece at HomeGoods and sent me a photo and I told her that I didn’t have anything else to match so she moved on. But later I was looking at the Williams Sonoma catalog and I found these salad plates and immediately called her and told her to see if the Grinch head was still there! Lucky for us, it was!

A Grinch Salad Plate

I just love this salad plate with the Grinch graphics, the people all around the rim are so cute!

2019.11.27c.jpg

The dinner plates are made by Fiesta and the color is shamrock. I bought them at Macys several years ago. They are now discontinued but you can find them online on the secondary market. You can read about what you need to think about when you are buying dinner plates here.

2019.11.27d.jpg

This stoneware charger or dinner plate came from Pottery Barn. I love this plate, I also have it in other colors. The pattern is called Cambria. It is the perfect size to be either a dinner plate or a charger plate, I love plates that have that kind of versatility.

2019.11.27m.jpg

I love these bright green place mats. They are made of some kind of hard foam. I bought them several years ago but I can’t remember where.

2019.11.27f (2).jpg

This Milano Red flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years but it is still for sale. Not sure where I bought it. I now have it in other colors as well. I bought the red tablecloth online at Amazon. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

2019.11.27e.jpg

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets for this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. If you read my blog you have seen this goblet in a few tablescapes. I think if I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. I bought the green goblets at Pier 1 several years ago. I really like the design of both of these goblets and the colors are perfect for this table setting. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

2019.11.27h.jpg

The red bell napkin rings came from Pier 1 several years ago and the red and green napkins came from there as well. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

2019.11.27g.jpg

I bought these glass bubble place card holders online a few years ago but I can’t remember where. In the back there is a small hole where a flower blossom could be placed. To read about the what, where and how of place card holders, please click here.

2019.11.27i.jpg

I found this salt and pepper set on Amazon. The table runner was made by someone on Etsy, I love the polka dots!

2019.11.27j.jpg

As soon as I saw this metal tree at Smith’s (a store in Salt Lake City) while I was on vacation several years ago, it really reminded me of the Grinch and I bought it.

A Brown and White Thanksgiving Tablescape

November 20, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I have had these turkey dinner plates for a while and when I found the white turkey tureen a few years ago I knew it was time to pull a table setting together.

2019.11.20a.jpg
2019.11.20k.jpg

I didn’t have a brown tablecloth but I found one on Amazon. I really wanted a table setting with only two colors this time.

2019.11.20d.jpg

Sorry about the glare on the plate, to get enough light I have to deal with the reflection of the light. These dinner plates were made by Spode and the pattern is called Celebration. I think I bought them at HomeGoods a few years ago. I like the profile of this large turkey and the flower border.

2019.11.20f.jpg

The white charger is one of the first charger sets I bought when I started tablescaping. The pattern is Antique Beaded and I bought them at Williams Sonoma several years ago. I use this charger constantly in my table settings. If you look back through my blog at my tablescapes, you will see it often. A simple white charger is a great first purchase if you want to create more interest in your table settings.

2019.11.20g.jpg

It’s difficult to see on top of the brown tablecloth but this flatware is a smoky brown color. The camera makes them look much darker in color than they really are. The handles are some kind of plastic material. They are marked SR Showroom Italy. I bought them online somewhere several years ago but I can’t remember where. They are really large and well made.

2019.11.20i.jpg

The clear goblets on the right are my wedding crystal, the pattern is Lismore made by Waterford. I also have sherbets, candlesticks and some serving pieces in this pattern. The pattern was released in 1952 and it is still in production. I love it. The brown goblet on the left was made by Lenox between 1966 and 1985. It was called Antique Brown. I bought them on Ebay several years ago.

2019.11.20h.jpg

The brown napkins probably came from World Market several years ago. They almost match the tablecloth, close enough. I was looking for a white turkey napkin ring and found these on Ebay a few years ago.

2019.11.20p.jpg
2019.11.20l.jpg

The brown metal turkey place card holder can also be a napkin ring. You can’t see the ring behind the turkey. I have had them for several years. I think they came from Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn. The white salt and pepper set came from Pottery Barn a few years ago. I already had the leaf tea light candle holders, not sure where I found them.

2019.11.20q.jpg

This white turkey tureen came from Pottery Barn a few years ago. I had been looking for a large white soup tureen for a while but nothing was quite right. When I saw this one I decided he needed a good home with us. I like the fact that he comes with a matching ladle.

A Turkey Tablescape with the Blues

November 12, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

The idea for this Thanksgiving tablescape design came from this turkey salad plate. I bought a few of these plates on sale after Thanksgiving a few years ago at Pottery Barn when they only had a few left and when it was offered again the next year, I was able to buy a few more. The pattern is called Botanical Harvest Turkey. The color blue is not a color that one would normally think of for a Thanksgiving table but I like the change.

2019.11.03a.jpg

I decided to set the table without a tablecloth so the wood surface of our Stickley table would show.

2019.11.03b.jpg

This turkey salad plate is colorful and I like the delicate feel of it.

2019.11.03c.jpg

This stoneware charger or dinner plate came from Pottery Barn as well. I love this plate, I also have it in red and a few other colors. The pattern is called Cambria. It is the perfect size to be either a dinner plate or a charger plate, I love plates that have that kind of versatility.

2019.11.03m.jpg

This rattan charger plate was one of the first chargers that I bought when I started tablescaping. I bought it at World Market or Pier 1 I think.

2019.11.03h.jpg

This place mat came from Pier 1 before our store closed. The design is called Mesa and I have the placemat in several colors. The camera washed out the blue shade. The color in the next photo is more accurate.

2019.11.03i.jpg

This cream flatware set was made by D & D Inox in Italy. I bought it at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale a several years ago. I love this flatware pattern, I have it in a few other colors as well. I can’t remember where I bought the napkins but it may have been HomeGoods.

2019.11.03j.jpg

I bought these metal leaf place card holders online several years ago, I can’t remember where.

2019.11.03k.jpg

I bought these amber goblets at Pier 1 a few years ago before our store closed. I love how tall they are, they will replace some that I bought several years ago that are much shorter. I think the blue goblets came from Pier 1 a few years ago too.

2019.11.03d.jpg

I can’t remember where I bought these two sets of pilgrim salt and peppers but the shorter ones are from Hallmark I think.

2019.11.03f.jpg
2019.11.03g.jpg

I can’t remember where I found this turkey centerpiece, I have had it for a few years. I love the different textures and the mix of colors.
