Stars and Stripes and Uncle Sam on the 4th of July Tablescape

June 26, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I love this striped patriotic tablecloth and the matching napkins, Lots of movement for the 4th of July.

2019.06.05r.jpg

I wrapped the napkin around the plates on this table, saves using a napkin ring and it’s a fun change. I found the napkins and tablecloth at Kohls a few years ago. The place mat is from Pier 1.

2019.06.05c.jpg

I bought the blue ruffled salad plates online at Ballard Designs. They were called Southern Living. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying salad plates here.

2019.06.05b.jpg

If you read my tablescaping blog posts you have seen this dinner/charger plate before a few times. It is from Pottery Barn, the pattern is Cambria in red. A charger plate needs to be about 11”-12” in diameter and this plate is about 11 3/4”. I have this plate in a few other colors as well. It is microwave and dishwasher safe too.

2019.06.05e.jpg

The second charger is my Antique Beaded plate from Williams-Sonoma several years ago. I have used it before on my 4th of July table settings.

2019.06.05d.jpg

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets again for this table setting. If you read my blog you have seen this goblet recently in a few tablescapes. I think if I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. I bought the blue goblet at Pier 1 sometime this past year I think. I love this shade of blue and the etched design. I also like the height of the goblet. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

2019.06.05.jpg

I bought the frosted white flatware on sale online at Wayfair a few years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes. I have used this flatware often the past couple of months. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

2019.06.05i.jpg

Can’t remember where I bought the metal star place card holders. I have had them for years. The set came with three navy, three red, three turquoise, and three white in the set.

2019.06.05j.jpg

I have had this Uncle Sam Nutcracker for many many years. I set him on a red Pottery Barn Rhodes drink dispenser stand to give him a bit more height.

2019.06.05h.jpg

I found this salt and pepper at an antique mall several years ago.

2019.06.05g.jpg

I found this at an antique mall too. It looks like the US Capitol but it is actually a bank. The slot is hidden on the back.

2019.06.05n.jpg

I always have fun creating 4th of July table settings.

Red, White, and Blue, for Me and You on the 4th of July Tablescape

June 24, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Another patriotic table setting s for 4th of July. I just love a red, white and blue tablescape!

2019.06.01a.jpg

The combination of stars and stripes is eye-catching!

2019.06.01b.jpg

I bought this melamine star plate at Sur la Table several years ago.

2019.06.01c.jpg

This dinner plate came from Sur la Table several years ago, I bought it on sale online. Their melamine plates are really good quality, a heavy plastic. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

2019.06.01d.jpg

This large dinner/charger plate is from Pottery Barn, pattern is Cambria in red. A charger plate needs to be about 11”-12” in diameter and this plate is about 11 3/4”. I have this plate in a few other colors as well. It is microwave and dishwasher safe too.

I bought the frosted white flatware on sale online at Wayfair a few years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here. Can’t remember where I bought the napkins, I have had them for a few years. The tablecloth came from Crate and Barrel, I have had it for a few years.

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets again for this table setting. If you read my blog you have seen this goblet on many tablescapes. I think if I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. I bought a set in clear too because I love the fact that they are a bit taller than other goblets and the design goes with everything. I bought the blue goblet at Pier 1 several years ago. I love this shade of blue and the etched design. I also like the height of the goblet. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

These metal star place card holders really get a work out on my 4th of July tablescapes. I can’t remember where they came from.

2019.06.01j.jpg

This set of creamers or small pitchers makes me laugh. We are a two party household so when I saw them I had to have them. They are from Fitz and Floyd, I can’t remember where I bought them. I have had them for a long time.

2019.06.01i (2).jpg

I can’t remember where I bought the salt and pepper shakers. My family jokes because sometimes I put special salt and pepper shakers on the table and forget to fill them!

2019.06.01h.jpg

This Heartwood Creek angel was designed by Jim Shore in 2003. It is no longer being made. It is called “I Pledge Allegiance To The Flag”. It was licensed by Enesco Group, Inc.. I love her sweet little face. The angel is standing on my Pottery Barn Rhodes drink dispenser stand to give it a bit of height. I have a large collection of vintage doilies and I suddenly remembered that I had a few red, white, and blue ones. I really like how this doily adds a bit of excitement to this table.

Flags and more Flags on the 4th of July Tablescape

June 16, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I wanted to create a table setting with my flag plates. I have had them for a few years now. They are melamine and I found them at Pier 1 several years ago. The tablecloth came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. It is a heavy material and well made. It is actually two shades of blue, the color will show better in other photos. This tablescape is fairly simple.

2019.05.31s.jpg

If you have been reading my blog posts about my tablescapes, you have begun to see some repetition in my design elements.

2019.05.31u.jpg

I love the design of these flag plates, it is a simple but strong design. They are melamine and I bought them at Pier 1 several years ago.

2019.05.31v.jpg
2019.06.01d.jpg

The extra plate here above the white charger plate is a red plate from Pottery Barn, their Cambria pattern. The white charger came from Williams Sonoma many years ago, it’s called Antique Beaded. If you read my blog, you have seen it before several times.

2019.05.31t.jpg

I bought the frosted white flatware on sale online at Wayfair several years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes. You can see the two color tones in the tablecloth in this photo.

2019.05.31p.jpg

When I bought the napkin rings they were brown but Hubby painted them white for me because I knew I would use them more often if they were white. I can’t remember where I bought them. The napkins probably came from HomeGoods or Pier 1. I have had them for several years.

2019.05.31g (2).jpg

The cobalt blue goblets are from Pier 1 several years ago. They are plastic. Can’t remember what company made the red goblet, I have had them for a long time. If anyone recognizes it, please let me know!

2019.05.31q.jpg

Can’t remember where I bought the metal star place card holders. I have had them for years. The set came with three navy, three red, three turquoise, and three white in the set.

2019.05.31j (2).jpg

I have a few of these patriotic balls, can’t remember where they came from.

2019.05.31k (3).jpg

I struggled with a centerpiece for this table and finally ended up with this. I found the large blue glass bowl at a garage sale recently. I just added flag napkins inside the bowl and flags outside and kept it simple. When I saw that bowl I knew it would come in handy as a centerpiece. Bowls are an easy centerpiece, just fill them with something and you are done!

2019.05.31w.jpg

One of my more simple table settings but I love the flags!

Uncle Sam's Tablescape

June 12, 2019 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I rediscovered this tablecloth buried in a stack of vintage tablecloths. I remembered that I had it but I thought it was a smaller one. It is not vintage but I have had it for several years. I love the bunting design around the edges. I can’t remember where I bought it but it might have been Ebay.

2019.05.30h (2).jpg
2019.05.30b (2).jpg

I like the contrast between the dark background on the tablecloth and the white stars.

2019.05.30f.jpg

This salad plate is enamelware and it was made by Golden Rabbit. Can’t remember where I bought it but I have had it for several years. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying salad plates here.

2019.05.30g.jpg

These white salad plates were made by Paola Navone. I think I bought them on sale at Crate and Barrel several years ago. They are heavy and the edge design goes well as an accent plate under many of my smaller plates.

2019.05.30e.jpg

I bought these plates online a few years ago at Ballard Designs, I think they are called Southern Living. They are about 11 1/2” in diameter, a good size to either be a dinner plate or a charger.

2019.05.30c (2).jpg

I bought the frosted white flatware on sale online at Wayfair a few years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

Using my red Waterford Marquis goblets here. I think if I were starting a tablescaping hobby, a set of red goblets would be one of my first purchases. They can be used several times a year. I bought these goblets years ago at HomeGoods. I bought a set because I love the fact that they are a bit taller than my other red goblets and the design goes with everything. The cobalt blue goblet is actually plastic, I bought them at Pier 1 several years ago. Many tablescapers buy these plastic goblets in many different colors at the Dollar Store. I sometimes buy tablescape items in sets of 12 and I never seem to be at Dollar Tree when they have that many in stock of any one color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

2019.05.30a (2).jpg

The napkins came from Sur la Table several years ago. When I bought the napkin rings they were brown but Hubby painted them white for me because I knew I would use them more often if they were white. I can’t remember where I bought them. The red place mat came from Pier 1.

2019.05.30d (2).jpg

I used these metal star place card holders on my Stars and Stripes tablescape also. Can’t remember where I bought them, I have had them for years. The set came with three navy, three red, three turquoise, and three white in the set.

2019.05.30j.jpg

My Uncle Sam pitcher takes center stage this week as the centerpiece. He is standing on a Rhodes drinks dispenser stand from Pottery Barn that I bought on sale several years ago. I use it often to elevate whatever I am using as a centerpiece. It is just the right height, not too short and not too tall. The stand is resting on three plastic trays I bought on sale online at Sur la Table a few years ago. They match the napkins I am using here, I must have bought them all at the same time. I collected Uncle Sams for a while when the family room was decorated with red, white, and blue and I bought this Uncle Sam pitcher several years ago, I can’t remember where. It was made by Department 56. I have always loved pitchers, I think because with a large family we always had one on the table while I was growing up. My mother never allowed a milk carton on the table! My four brothers tried to sneak one on a few times but it never worked. Then they would sometimes put it on the floor next to their chair! I love this pitcher, it is one of my favorites.
