A Best Witches Tablescape for Halloween!

2018.Halloween 1.jpg

For a change I did a purple, black, and white table last year for Halloween. I picked the theme black witches and started gathering what I needed. The table runner was made by someone on Etsy and the colors worked perfectly for what I wanted to do. I also got the napkins on Etsy as well as the witch napkin rings. I saw a witch design I liked and asked if they could make napkin rings, I really love the way they turned out.

The witch centerpieces came from Pier 1. They were a distressed black and I am not a fan of distressed wood so my hubby spray painted them for me, I love the way they turned out. The black studded pumpkin is from Pier 1 as well as the place mats. Pier 1 has good sales from time to time. The chargers are Bormioli Rocco Inca in purple and I bought them on sale on Amazon. Have a few other colors of this charger, it is really heavy glass. The picture looks dark but it is a really pretty purple color. Found the purple goblets at HomeGoods. I was able to get 6 at one store and 6 at another one. I bought these black goblets on Ebay and they were one of the first sets that I bought several years ago. They are Lenox Midnight Mood black glass water goblets and they were made between 1974 and 1982. They are 7 1/4 inches tall. When I started buying goblets I didn’t pay attention to the height but now I like to buy goblets that are at least about 8 inches tall because my table is large and I think they show better.

The silverware is Zaffiro Flatware, I think I got it on sale at Neiman Marcus. Over the years I bought 6 different colors because I love the way it looks. The dinner plate is Fiesta in purple, it is actually lighter in color than the photo shows. The white plate is more for spring tables but the butterfly design is hidden. It is by Lenox and is called Butterfly Meadow Cloud. I think I found them at HomeGoods. The black plate is by 10 Strawberry Street, I think it came from HomeGoods as well. I looked and looked for months for a plate with a witch on it but I wanted black and white only, no orange. Lots of witch plates but none black and white. I finally found these on Ebay, Crate and Barrel sold them a few years ago. I bought the black house place card holders on Ebay. At that time they had them at Target, and Hearth and Hand with Magnolia. It all came together finally, worked on this one for a long time!

A By the Beautiful Sea Tablescape

I live about a mile and a half from the Pacific Ocean and I have wanted to put together a beachy theme tablescape for a while.  Been mulling it over in my mind and finally pulled it all together. It seems appropriate with the hot weather outside.

We saw the whale centerpiece on a long weekend my husband and I took a few years ago.  It was really expensive so we passed on it.  But I found it later online and because it was a second with an imperfection, it was much cheaper and I bought it.  I often have it out in the summertime.  Took the photo before I added flowers.

I used to collect glass blown animals starting when I was about 10.  As an adult I continued to collect glass animals and other glass objects until I ran out of room.  The glass octopus has always been one of my favorites. The Waterford glass conch shell, a gift from my husband,  is heavy and another of my favorites.  My husband bought the glass starfish for me from a glassblower in Laguna Beach many many years ago.  There is a funny family story about it breaking many years ago (since mended) and to this day no one in the family will admit who did it. (I actually think a cleaning lady might have done it.) The seashells came from a trip to Baja early in our marriage or from a vacation trip to the Carolinas or they were part of a group I bought somewhere. The clear goblets are my Waterford Lismore wedding crystal and the vintage blue hobnail goblets came from Ebay.

The beaded chargers came from Williams Sonoma a few years ago. I watch and wait till things I like go on sale.  The blue melamine dinner plates came from HomeGoods as did the white salad plates.  The small crab plate is made by 222 Fifth and is part of a set of four that includes the crab, a seahorse (first photo) , an octopus and a starfish. There are similar sets for sale on ebay. I purchased the plastic napkin rings on Etsy, I have them in other colors also.  I bought the white napkins at Pier 1, they often have good sales on napkins. The flatware is Vietri Aladdin in Aqua and I got it on sale at Bloomingdale's. I bought a gray set as well, that's a difficult color to find. I love the crossed design and the frosted color. Can't remember where I got the starfish place card holders.  By the sea, by the sea, by the beautiful sea!
