Pumpkins on a Fall Tablescape

October 22, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I bought this tablecloth on sale at Spoonflower online a few years ago to use on a different tablescape but when it arrived it was not the exact colors that I needed. That happens sometimes and I usually send the tablecloth back but I really liked this one so I decided to create a Fall tablescape using it. The tablecloth design is quite unique but it lends itself to a Fall theme I think.

This salad pumpkin plate came from Sur la Table several years ago. I had been looking for a good pumpkin plate for some time and it was the perfect color. It is one of my favorites and I usually use it sometime during the Fall season every year.

This turquoise melamine dinner plate came from Pier 1 several years ago. It is a brighter blue than this photo shows.

I found these orange distressed pumpkin chargers at Pier 1 years ago before our store closed. I really like this shade of orange for Fall tablescapes. I used it on a Thanksgiving tablescape a few years ago, you can see that table setting here.

This place mat and several others like it in other colors came from Pier 1 several years ago. It is a prettier brighter blue than this photo shows. I don’t know why these blue tones fight with my camera phone.

I have this Ginkgo International Le Prix flatware in black and red and I added yellow and this color called persimmon a few years ago. I can’t remember where I bought the set online but if you google it, something will probably pop up. I used this set on a rainbow themed tablescape. You can see that tablescape here. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I think these cotton napkins came from Pier 1 several years ago, I love the intense bright turquoise color. I found the metal orange pumpkin napkin rings on Amazon. I have had them for a while. To read about the What, Where and How of napkin rings please click here.

I love these little orange pumpkin place card holders. I have had them for a few years now. They came from Crate and Barrel. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

The acrylic blue green goblet on the left came from Pier 1 a few years ago before our store closed. I think I bought the orange glass goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx. They were some of the first goblets I bought many years ago and I use them more often than I thought I would. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection including the colors that I use most often here.

This pumpkin really makes a statement! I bought it last year but I can’t remember where. It usually sits on the fireplace from Fall until I put Christmas decorations up.

I added pumpkin salt and pepper sets to the table. These came from Pier 1 several years ago. I think the other set came from Amazon.

An unusual color combination for a Fall tablescape but I like it!

Bats on a Halloween Tablescape

October 08, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I have had this Halloween tablecloth for several years, it probably came from HomeGoods. In the back of my mind I knew it had black bats on it so when I saw these plates a few months ago I knew I had another Halloween tablescape theme for this year.

I was browsing online for Halloween items and I found these bat appetizer plates at Bed, Bath & Beyond online. They are labeled H for Happy App Plate Orange W/Bats. I love the simple black and orange bats design.

I added a simple black melamine salad plate to the plate stack. I wanted a simple black plate separating the two bat plates. I have a couple small black plate sets but they were the same size as the appetizer bat plate so I looked online for a plate that was a bit larger and I found these at Home Depot online. It is their Trenblay Melamine Salad Plate in Charcoal Black. Unfortunately the first set came with a broken one which seldom happens with melamine but I was able to easily replace them.

The dinner plates have the same design as the salad plates. These plates were really inexpensive, they are a very thin melamine.

This black glass Starburst charger is called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. If you read my blog you see these black charger plates often on my tablescapes during the Halloween season.

I wanted another set of black flatware that was all black and different from my Ginkgo International LePrix black set to use on my Halloween tablescapes this year and I found this set a few years ago on sale at Macy’s online. It was made by Lenox and the pattern is called Portola. I love the simple design and shiny black color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

I can’t remember where I bought these orange cotton napkins but they are my favorite shade of bright orange. I love bright colors. These napkins probably came from Pier 1 several years ago. I found the black wood bat napkin rings on Etsy last year.

There are lots of sellers on Etsy now who do 3D printing and it has been easy for me to find place card holders to match some of my table themes. These small black bat place card holders were inexpensive. They came from England and I have bought from this seller before, they do great work. The orange place cards came from Amazon.

I often use black and orange goblets on my Halloween tablescapes but this black goblet is a newer addition to my goblet collection. I have black goblets that are shorter than this goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon this past Spring. The advertisement said that they are disposable but I plan to keep them for a while until I can find some black glass ones that are the same height. I think I bought these orange glass goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets I bought when I started tablescaping. I love using them this time of year. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

I knew that I wanted some kind of large black bat for the centerpiece for this table and I found this metal bat on Etsy last month. It is actually a wall hanging but Hubby made a base for it for me. The bat was laser cut on 16 gauge steel. I love the designs on the wings. I added a bat salt and pepper set that I found at VampireFreaks online a few months ago.

I added a couple of simple black wood bats to the table that I found on Etsy as well as two small Johanna Parker Halloween figures that I found on Amazon last year from her Halloween Pumpkin Body Peeps collection. There are four figures in this series. This one is a small bat.

This owl figure is another piece from Johanna Parker’s Halloween Pumpkin Body Peeps collection that I found on Amazon last year. I love Johanna Parker’s designs.

If you are looking for something made of wood I would start with looking on Etsy online, lots of woodworkers there.

I love Halloween decorations!

Black Cats on a Halloween Tablescape

October 02, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

I put this Black Cat Halloween Tablescape together a few years ago but it was all black and white and there were many black and white pumpkins on the table too. It was really too crowded so I simplified it this time. The white tablecloth probably came from HomeGoods or Amazon several years ago and I found the black and white print placemats at Pier 1 several years ago.

222 Fifth Wiccan Lace

These appetizer plates were made by 222 Fifth and the pattern was called Wiccan Lace. This small appetizer plate set came with a cat, a witch, a skull, and a haunted house. You can see the haunted house salad plate on a Halloween tablescape that I did a few years ago here. I bought the sets several years ago on Ebay. You can still find them for sale online from time to time especially on Ebay. I love all the small details you can see in the design when you look at it closely.

This is the salad plate in the same pattern, made by 222 Fifth and called Wiccan Lace. I love all the details on this plate. It repeats the same patterns that are on the appetizer plates. I bought them on Ebay also several years ago, a few at a time as I saw them. You can see the same plate on another Halloween tablescape that I did a few years ago here.

2021.10.05c.jpg

This heavy plastic orange dinner plate is a favorite of mine. If you read my blog you have seen it more than once during Halloween season. I love this plate, the vivid orange color, the ruffles on the lip, and the heavy melamine design all make it a perfect plate for Halloween. I bought them several years ago online at Dillards.com and they were called Summer Oasis Zoie Vintage Dinner Plate.

These black glass Starburst chargers are called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. The photo is a bit weird, not sure why the plate was elongated so much.

Ginkgo International LePrix Black Flatware

This black stainless flatware set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had it for years, I’m not sure where I bought it. You can still find it for sale online. It gets a lot of use this time of year. I often repeat myself in these blog posts but I do that because I have new readers every week. You can see this flatware set on a black buffalo print Thanksgiving tablescape that I did here.

2021.10.05f.jpg

I had someone on Etsy make the black cat napkins and I found the metal black cat napkin rings there as well. I love the cat faces on the napkins.

2021.10.05h.jpg

The plastic black cat place card holders are magnetic and I found them on Etsy too. Such a clever design, it looks like they just cut a small plastic cat in half and glued a magnet to each side.

2021.10.05i.jpg

The orange goblet on the left was one of the first goblets I bought many years ago, I think I bought them at Ross or T.J. Maxx. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I sure do this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this design in bright colors. You have seen these goblets more than once on my Halloween tablescapes and I use them on Fall tables sometimes as well. The goblet on the right with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and it is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a couple of years ago. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets for your tablescaping collection here.

2021.10.05l.jpg

I found the three black cats for the centerpiece at HomeGoods on different trips there several years ago. I love the large shiny one, it was the perfect size for this tablescape. Every time I go to HomeGoods I am thinking about what I might see that would make a good centerpiece.

2021.10.05j.jpg

I love the expression on this small black cat figure. I think I bought it many years ago at a gift shop that is now closed. I added it to the table for a bit of added interest.

2021.10.05k.jpg

Took me a bit of time to find this salt and pepper set. It is clearly time to inventory my salt and pepper sets. I looked at the bins where most of them are stored with no luck and then suddenly remembered that I have another smaller bin of them under the desk in my study. They are perfect for this tablescape.

Jack-O'-Lanterns on a Halloween Tablescape

September 25, 2022 by Beth Wilson in Tablescapes

Halloween tablescapes are some of my favorite table settings to create, combining black and orange together immediately creates a festive look on the table. This tablecloth probably came from HomeGoods several years ago. I picked it to match the square salad plates.

I found these jack-o’-lantern square salad plates on Ebay earlier this year. They are a heavy ceramic and they were made by inHomestylez. I love all the different facial expressions.

This is a Fiesta square dinner plate in the color Tangerine. I really love this color but it has been discontinued. It is the perfect plate for a Halloween tablescape. I used it on a books themed Halloween tablescape three years ago. You can see that tablescape here. I bought these plates online from Replacements.com a few years ago. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying dinner plates here.

I needed a basic square black charger and I found these on Amazon a few years ago. They are melamine and they were made by American Atelier. I think you can find similar ones online. If you are a Tablescaper, it’s a good idea to have basic plates in neutral colors that you can use over and over again on your plate stacks.

I wanted another set of black flatware that was all black and different from my Ginkgo International LePrix set to use on my Halloween tablescapes this year and I found this set a few years ago on sale at Macy’s online. It was made by Lenox and the pattern is called Portola. I love the simple design and shiny black color. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

These black cotton napkins came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. They are a really nice cotton fabric. The jack-o’-lantern napkin rings came from Ebay a few years ago. I like jack-o’-lanterns with friendly facial expressions.

I found these Department 56 Mercury Glass Jack-O’-Lantern place card holders on Ebay a few years ago. I love place card holders, they can add such a fun element to a themed tablescape.

I think I bought these orange goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx several years ago. They were some of the first goblets I bought when I started tablescaping. I love using them this time of year. I have black goblets that are shorter than this goblet and black goblets that are much taller than this goblet but I wanted goblets this height. I was delighted to find these black plastic ones on Amazon this past Spring. It said that they are disposable but I plan to keep them for a while until I can find some black glass ones that are the same height. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying goblets (including the colors I use the most) for your tablescaping collection here.

I found this jack-o’-lantern blowmold on Mercari online a few years ago. I love using it on my Halloween tablescapes. I can’t believe I found such a perfect Halloween centerpiece. I’m not sure how old it is but it looks vintage. I have had really good luck finding unusual things on Mercari. I wanted it to sit a bit taller on the table so I set it on a small black glass cake stand I have. I think I found the cake stand at HomeGoods several years ago. I used this same centerpiece on a vintage style Halloween tablescape a few years ago. You can see that Halloween tablescape here.

I truly love working on Halloween tablescapes, they are some of my favorites to create.
