A 4th of July Celebration Tablescape

I don’t know about you but I am ready for a big 4th of July celebration. As soon as I saw this tablecloth I knew what the theme of this tablescape would be. I can’t remember where I found the tablecloth, it may have been HomeGoods, but I love the fireworks design.

I bought these melamine fireworks salad plates at Sur La Table a few years ago. I can’t believe how well they match the tablecloth, very festive!

Using our everyday red dinner plates again on this tablescape. They are made by Fiesta and the color is Scarlet.

I bought these polypropylene white star chargers at Pier 1 several years ago. I have them in blue and red as well. I really like the way they look on this plate stack.

I bought this frosted white flatware set on sale online at Wayfair several years ago, it was made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than they would have been if it was 18/10 but I really liked the frosted white color.

The white fireworks napkins match the salad plates and they came from Sur La Table as well a few years ago. They are a great match for the tablecloth. I really wanted some kind of fireworks themed napkin rings and I found these red, white, and blue ones online at Mercari a couple of years ago.

I found these patriotic stars party favor boxes at Oriental Trading online a couple of years ago. I am using them as place card holders on this tablescape. I like the way their white background breaks up the dark blue tablecloth a bit and the stars match the stars on the napkins and the tablecloth.

The blue acrylic goblet on the left came from Pier 1 several years ago. I really like the height and shape of it and I have it in several different colors. Dollar stores sell them sometimes in acrylic and glass. I used my red Waterford Marquis goblets for this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago. If you read my blog you have seen this goblet many times. They are for sale on Ebay from time to time.

I wanted a centerpiece that was really festive so I added patriotic pin wheels to my white flag stand that I bought at Grandin Road online several years ago. I found the pin wheels on Amazon. They were too tall so I cut them down a bit.

We are ready for the 4th of July. Time to celebrate!

A Summer 4th of July Tablescape

I have had this tablecloth for many years but this is the first time I have used it. I bought it with the matching napkins at Pottery Barn many years ago. I love primary colors and my 4th of July tablescapes are always a true red, white, and blue. The beige on these table linens always stopped me from setting a 4th of July table with them but I decided that it was time to use them or pass them on!

I have had these flag salad plates for a long long time. They were part of my Americana decorations in the family room for many years before we redecorated. They were designed for Brandon House by Warren Kimble and copyrighted in 1998 by Sakura. The pattern was called Spirit of the Flag. There were four different designs in the set. I used three different plate designs on this tablescape.

This is a larger salad plate that could be used as a salad or a dinner plate. I bought them online several years ago at Ballard Designs, they were made by Southern Living. This blue is a great color to use for 4th of July tablescapes.

I was thinking about this tablescape and the tablecloth and I knew I probably wanted to use a beige plate somewhere in the plate stack. I have one but it has a wavy edge and I wanted a simpler shape so I looked online a few years ago and found these simple beige (the color is called wheat) dinner plates at Pottery Barn. They are stoneware and the pattern is called Mason. They are available in several different colors. Pottery Barn is one of my go-to sources for basic good quality plates in neutral colors.

This is one of my favorite red chargers, I have had them for many years. I bought them online a few at a time over several months probably from the Juliska online store. I love the design around the rim. They were made by Juliska and the pattern was called Berry and Thread. I think the red color has been discontinued now.

These dark blue napkins with beige stars came from Pottery Barn many years ago. The frosted cream flatware set was made by D & D Inox in Italy, the pattern was called Roma. I bought it at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale several years ago. There are similar patterns available online now.

I can’t remember where I bought the metal star place card holders. I have had them for years. The set came with three navy, three red, three turquoise, and three white stars in the set. I used the red and the blue ones on this tablescape.

Dollar stores sell them sometimes in acrylic and glass. The red iced tea glass goblet on the right was made by Waterford and the pattern was Marquis Brookside. I bought them at HomeGoods many years ago with the matching goblet. They are for sale on Ebay from time to time.

I was trying to find something to use as a centerpiece and I remembered that I had this shallow bowl. I stood it on a fake book decorated with stars and stripes. They both have the same colors as the table linens and salad plates. They were also part of some Americana decorations in our family room before we redecorated. I have had them both for many years, I can’t remember where I found them.

I added a red glass salt and pepper set to the table made by Mosser that I bought online at The Vermont Country Store a few years ago.

I’ll let you in on a little secret about this tablecloth. When I pulled it out and put it on the table to try it out I realized that it was way too wide and the blue stars border wouldn’t show on one side. Hubby helped me fold it in the center just so and line it up so the blue borders matched on each side of the table. The fold is on one of the center stripes and it doesn’t show at all. (I ironed it down so that helped.) Sometimes really large tablecloths are cheaper because people usually have smaller tables so it is good to remember that you may be able to fold them down or cut them down in some way.

An Octopi Your Seat Tablescape

I planned this Octopus Tablescape for a long time a few years ago and I finally got it done. I couldn’t decide what color octopus to use but I was leaning toward looking for white ones because I had seen this underwater pattern tablecloth on Amazon and I wanted to use it.

Once I decided on using white octopuses I looked online and I found many octopus salad plates but none with a white octopus. I almost gave up when I found these melamine octopus salad plates at Wayfair online. They were called Whitson Octopus and the brand was called Rosecliff Heights. I love the octopus graphic and the background colors match perfectly with this tablecloth. They pick up all the different blue and turquoise colors that are on the table.

This turquoise melamine dinner plate probably came from HomeGoods a few years ago. I like the beaded rim design.

This blue Cambria charger or dinner plate came from Pottery Barn a few years ago. If you read my blog you have seen a red charger like this one often on my tablescapes. I have this plate in a few other colors now because I like the design.

This white Antique Beaded charger came from Williams Sonoma several years ago. If you read my blog you have seen it several times on different tablescapes. It is one of my go-to chargers when I need a white one.

I bought this frosted white flatware set on sale online at Wayfair a few years ago, it was made by Cambridge. I found the octopus napkin rings at Walmart online a few years ago. They were made by Fennco Styles and they were dark blue but Hubby painted them white for me. I bought the napkins at our Pier 1 store before it closed several years ago. I love the multi-colored design because I seem to have many different shades of turquoise, teal, and blue dishes and these napkins match many of them. I am using my white clam shell place card holders on this tablescape. They were made by Andrea by Sadek. I have had them for several years, I can’t remember where I bought them but I see them on Ebay from time to time. To read about the What, When and Why of place card holders, please click here.

I think the blue glass goblet on the left came from Pier 1 several years ago. I can’t remember where I found the turquoise acrylic goblet on the right but it may have been Pier 1 as well. I had found a gold brass colored octopus mug holder online that we were going to paint and use for a centerpiece but I really hated to paint it. We were in HomeGoods a few years ago and I found this one, perfect! I love the spreading waving tentacles! It is sitting on a navy blue Rhodes drink dispenser stand that I bought at Pottery Barn several years ago.

I found two small plastic white octopuses on Etsy to add to the tablescape on each side of the centerpiece. They were made by a 3D printer.

I love the different shades of blue and turquoise on this tablescape. I have always been fascinated watching how octopuses move themselves through water and they are very intelligent creatures. This was a fun tablescape to pull together, lots of movement here like what goes on in the ocean.

A Lighthouse Tablescape for Summer

I did a different lighthouse tablescape four years ago, you can see that one here. When I saw this tablecloth on Amazon I decided it was time to do another lighthouse tablescape. The colors on this tablecloth say Summer to me.

I didn’t want to use the same lighthouse salad plates that I used before so I looked on Ebay and found this set. There are six different designs and the plates were made by Royal Norfolk.

The white dinner plate was made by Fitz and Floyd and the pattern is called Oakdale White. I bought them at HomeGoodsseveral years ago. I like the braid design around the rim of the plate.

I love this heavy blue glass charger. They were made by Villeroy and Boch and the pattern is Verona. Not sure where I found them. I have had them for several years.

I have read that you are not supposed to set a placemat on top of a tablecloth on a tablescape but I am not one to follow those kind of rules on my informal tables. I bought this placemat at Pier 1 several years ago. I have it in several colors. I wanted to use them on this tablescape to break up the busyness of the tablecloth a bit by added a solid block of color.

This flatware pattern is Milano Red flatware by Ginkgo International Le Prix. I have had this set for several years, not sure where I bought it. You can still find it for sale online.

I found the napkins on Etsy a few years ago, I love the design with the blue ocean background. I found the napkin rings on Ebay a few years ago. From time to time I search Ebay for napkin rings and I always seem to find some interesting ones.

I can’t remember where I bought this white monkey fist knot place card holder. The monkey fist knot was used by sailors to add weight to a rope or cable. Hubby added a small wood circle stand to the bottom of it that he painted white so the knot would stand straight.

The red iced tea glass goblet was made by Waterford and the pattern was Marquis Brookside. I bought them at HomeGoods many years ago. They are on Ebay for sale from time to time. The dark blue acrylic goblets came from Pier 1 on sale a few years ago before our store closed. It’s difficult to see but they have a rope design around the top of the goblet. I often use them on summer ocean themed tablescapes.

I knew I wanted to use a lighthouse for a centerpiece and I found this lighthouse cookie jar on Ebay a few years ago. It’s sitting on a dark blue drink dispenser stand from Pottery Barn that I bought several years ago, to give it more height.

Hubby loves lighthouses probably because he spent his life’s work in navigation and commercial GPS. We took a trip to the Outer Banks a few years ago and we visited a few lighthouses. We want to visit more!
