A Valentine's Day Tablescape

I did a Valentine’s Day tablescape with some of the same elements that are on this tablescape (you can see it here) but I mixed in different pieces this time. If you look at both you can see how I use the same elements on different tablescapes to create a totally different look. I bought this red tablecloth on Amazon, I have had it for several years. The three vintage Valentine hankies that I am using as a runner on this tablescape are from my vintage hankie collection.

I found these small red heart bowls with a beaded edge at HomeGoods several years ago. They were made by chantal.

White Milk Glass Plates

I bought these vintage Anchor Hocking white milk glass open heart lace edge salad plates on Ebay several years ago. They are fun plates to bring out for Valentine’s Day.

I love these whimsical red with white polka dots dinner plates. They were made by Maxwell & Williams and the pattern was called Sprinkle. I bought them online several years ago but I can’t remember where.

Anchor Hocking White Milk Glass Open Heart Lace Edge Plate

These vintage Anchor Hocking white milk glass open heart lace edge charger plates match the salad plates. I bought them on Ebay several years ago.

I bought this frosted white flatware set on sale online at Wayfair several years ago, it is made by Cambridge. It is 18/0 so the fork tines are a bit sharper than I would like but I really liked the frosted color. Wayfair has really good sales on flatware sometimes.

The white napkins with red hearts came from Pier 1 several years ago. I found the red metal heart napkin rings on Amazon. When the napkins have a busy pattern I like to use simple solid color napkin rings.

These place card holders are actually lucite heart napkin rings that I bought on Etsy a few years ago. I added a paper heart for a place card.

I am using my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets on this tablescape only this time I added the matching iced teas too. I really love this glassware. It is well made, heavy, and a true red color. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago.

This red heart shaped cardboard box centerpiece came from Target several years ago. I bought a smaller pink one too that I will use on a future tablescape.

I’m not sure where I bought the red glass pillar candle holders, I have had them for several years. They were some of the first ones I bought because I knew I would be creating many red tablescapes and I would need them. I added a white pillar candle. I have candles in several shapes and sizes to use when I need them on a tablescape.

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, I love all the red and white!

A Black and White Winter Tablescape

I have been wanting to do a more modern themed black and white tablescape for a few years. When I saw this black tree branches on white tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago I decided to build a tablescape around it. The tablecloth was made by Fmfunctex. This tablecloth could easily be used on a Halloween tablescape and I may use it on one someday but it lends itself to a winter theme too I think. I predict this will be a tablescape that people will either love or really dislike. I am only using two colors and invariably when I do that, one or two people from some of the tablescaping groups that I belong to online will make a nasty comment and tell me how much better it would have looked if I had added another color. (How I love Facebook blocking because that is the last tablescape of mine that they will ever see…) The next time I do this table, maybe next winter, I will add red cardinal birds as accents. I am looking for just the right red cardinal salad plate right now, I have my eye on a few possibilities.

These black plates are smaller than most of the salad plates I have used recently on my tablescapes. They are called tidbit plates or appetizer plates. These plates were made by 10 Strawberry Street and the pattern was called Classic Black Porcelain. I bought the plates at HomeGoods several years ago.

I was looking for a bold black and white dinner plate design for this tablescape and I found these melamine dinner plates at Crate and Barrel a few years ago. I suspect people will either love them or hate them! Lol! The pattern was called Metro.

Not the best photo of these charger plates, it is a dark day outside and I am struggling with the light and reflections. These black glass Starburst chargers are called Charge It and they were made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes.

This black flatware set is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had the set for years, not sure where I bought it.

I bought these cotton black napkins online at World Market a few years ago. I really like World Market napkins, they are usually inexpensive and they wash well but they do need ironing. I was looking at the two different white napkin rings I have and neither one really worked for this table. Hubby found these and we turned them around so they would be plain white, problem solved!

This is what they look like on the other side, there is also one that says graze. I bought them at Pier 1 a few years ago. Look for them on a Thanksgiving tablescape someday.

I really wanted the table to have scattered solid blocks of black color so I used these black house place card holders. I bought them on Ebay several years ago. At that time they had them at Target, and Hearth and Hand with Magnolia.

The goblet on the left with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and it is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a couple years ago.I bought these black goblets on Ebay and they were one of the first sets that I bought several years ago. They are Lenox Midnight Mood black glass water goblets and they were made between 1974 and 1982. They are 7 1/4 inches tall. When I started buying goblets I didn’t pay attention to the height but now I like to buy goblets that are at least about 8 inches tall because my table is large and I think they show better. Ebay has them for sale from time to time.

When I started tablescaping, the first few years I bought lots of different candle holders of various shapes and sizes so I would have them when I needed them. This narrow clear hurricane candle holder came from Crate and Barrel and the pattern is called London. I filled it with day lily leafless stalks called scapes. They are what day lilies are borne on. After they are dead they can be gently pulled from the base of the plant. I have a large pile of them and Hubby painted some black for me. I really have too many and I promised him that after this tablescape, I would get rid of all of them. (I can always gather more over time, I have lots of day lilies!) An unusual somewhat stark centerpiece but the scapes match the black branches on the tablecloth and that is the mood I wanted.

A bit of a different departure from my usual tablescapes but variety is the spice of life!

A Winter Buffalo Check Tablescape

I found this black and white buffalo check tablecloth on Amazon several years ago. This is one of those tables that I really didn’t visualize when I started creating it but I kind of knew where I wanted to end up. It reminds me of the mountains and our cabin.

These pine cone salad plates were made by Andrea by Sadek. I love the pine cone raised relief design. I bought them several years ago online but I can’t remember where. I used them on another tablescape that you can see here. Looking at the two tablescapes illustrates how you can take the same theme and a few of the same elements and create different tablescapes.

This black dinner plate was one of the first basic dinner plates that I bought when I started tablescaping several years ago. They were made by 10 Strawberry Street and the pattern was called Black Porcelain Glaze. I think I found them at HomeGoods.

I bought these Acacia wood round bark edge chargers at Target several years ago. They were made by Threshold. I love their rustic vibe.

This black flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I’m not sure where I bought the set. I have had it for several years. It isn’t 18/10 but it is still good quality.

These green napkins came from Pier 1 or World Market several years ago. I found the pine cone napkin rings on Amazon. They are called Park Design Pine Lodge iron pine cone napkin rings. I liked the color and design so much that I bought another set for our mountain cabin.

I can’t remember where I bought the wood stump place card holders. I wanted green place cards but the ones I have had spring flowers on them. While I was looking at them I realized that if I put two back to back I would have a rustic looking place card, simple solution!

The green acrylic goblet came from our Pier 1 store before it closed. The clear fluted goblet with the black stem is called Octime and the manufacturer was Luminarc Arcoroc. They were made in the 1980’s. I bought them on Ebay.

I bought the centerpiece lantern online at Gold Canyon, a candle shop now closed. I layered black and white stones on the bottom and then scattered a few pine cones around a green Luminara candle and turned it on for the photos. I bought the Luminara candle at Pottery Barn several years ago. I really like the size and shape of this lantern.

I added two pine cone tea light candle holders to the table and put Luminara tea lights in them and turned them on for the photos too. The pine cone candle holders came from HomeGoods. I can’t remember where I bought the Luminara tea lights.

Lanterns are such an easy centerpiece.

I love pine cones and check tablecloths and I think they are a good combination on this Winter tablescape.

A Winter Snowman Tablescape

I have had these snow people salad plates for several years but I finally gathered everything else together for this tablescape. The blue gingham tablecloth is labeled DG Collections, I bought it on Amazon.

These snow people salad plates were illustrated by Susan Winget and the series was called Snow Friends. There were four different salad plate designs in the series. I have always loved some of her work and these plates are so cute. I think I bought them on Ebay. This series has been out of production for several years although Susan Winget is still designing plates. You can find these plates for sale from time to time online on the secondary market.

I love the bunnies!

Susan Winget illustrates calendars as well and I always buy one of her calendars every year.

These blue melamine dinner plates came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago. I have them in salad plate size as well and in red too.

If you read my blog you have seen these red Cambria pattern chargers from Pottery Barn several times. I think they are closing this pattern out so I recently bought some in three other colors. You will see them on future tablescapes.

This is one of my favorite blue glass chargers. They were made by Villeroy and Boch and the pattern is called Verona. I am not sure where I found them. I have had them for several years. They are good quality and a heavy glass. I like the design in the glass.

I have been using my more formal red frosted flatware recently but decide to switch to this more informal red set because this tablescape is more whimsical. The pattern is Milano Red flatware by Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years, not sure where I bought it.

I bought these red napkins when we remodeled the kitchen a few years ago. Our kitchen is white with red accents. They probably came from HomeGoods. I love these snowman napkins rings. They were called Sweet Shoppe Christmas and they were made by Sango and designed by Susan Lipkin. I found them online at Replacements, Ltd.

I found these snowman place card holders at Hobby Lobby online a few years ago.

I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets for this table setting. The dark blue acrylic goblets came from Pier 1 on sale a few years ago before our store closed. It’s difficult to see but they have a rope design around the top of the goblet. I often use them on summer ocean themed tablescapes.

I bought this snowman cookie jar at Target a few years ago. He is sitting on a red Pottery Barn drink dispenser stand.

I added a couple sets of snow people salt and peppers to the tablescape.
