A Winter Scene Tablescape

I have had this Juliska Ceramics Country Estate Winter Holiday Ruby plate set for several years and I have been wanting to use them on a tablescape but didn’t get it done until now. Juliska started this series in 2012. You can still find it for sale but I don’t think it is still in production. They have a new similar design for sale now. I bought the poinsettia and holly tablecloth at HomeGoods a few years ago, it was made by Ralph Lauren.

I love these Juliska Ceramics Country Estate Winter Holiday Ruby salad plates. The scalloped edge, the winter scene in red, it is all perfect for a winter tablescape. I love the sleigh scene with the stable in the background. I bought this plate set a few plates at a time over a couple of years until I had the number I needed. I can’t remember where I bought them but it was online and probably on several different sites. There were four different salad plate designs in the salad plate set.

I love the small details on these plates. The snowman stovepipe hat and broom are sitting on a post in the foreground, waiting to be used on the snowman. This plate has a conservatory in the background instead of a stable.

This one shows the main house in the background.

This one shows a winter boathouse in the background as they are skating on the frozen lake.

The lip on the dinner plates repeats some of the designs from the salad plates and adds others.

This charger was also made by Juliska Ceramics and the pattern was called Berry and Thread, color Ruby. I like plates with interesting rim designs because it adds something different to the plate stack. I bought these chargers a few chargers at a time over a couple of years until I had the number I needed. I can’t remember where I bought them but it was online and probably on several different sites. This charger is a deeper red, almost a brick red.

This flatware set was made by D & D Inox in Italy and the pattern is called Roma. I bought them at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale a few years ago. There are similar patterns available online now. I really like the marbleized design on the handles and the stainless quilted design. They are 18/10 stainless and great quality. I have another set of red flatware but this one is more formal looking.

I bought the napkins on Amazon a few years ago. I have several different shades of red napkins but none of them were the right shade and tone for this plate set and tablecloth. I decided to set a more formal table and not use a napkin ring on this table.

These white place card holders can be written on as well with a special pen. Can’t remember where I bought them but it was probably Williams Sonoma or Crate and Barrel some years ago. It’s a nice simple place card holder, I have used it several times. Place card holders sometimes come with place cards. I was looking for some place cards to use on this table and found these with a red tree on them. Serendipity because they are perfect with the red and white design of this tablescape!

I decided to use two of the same goblet on this table. I don’t think I have ever done that before. These goblets were made by Cristal D’Arques-Durand and the pattern was called Antique Ruby. They are a pressed glass diamond and fan pattern. I think I bought them years ago a few at a time on Ebay until I had a set. They were made between 1990 and 2008.

I bought this red metal sleigh online a few years ago at Kirklands. I am beginning to love that site! I have a weakness for sleighs. It was a different red color and distressed with black marks. I am not a fan of distressed anything so Hubby painted it a better red color for me. It was the perfect size to be a centerpiece and it works well on this tablescape. I added pine greenery and a few red bulbs.

I added a couple red tea light candle holders to fill in a bit. I just realized I never put candles in them for the photos! Lol!

A Dozen Tablescapes from 2020

As I did last December I decided to write a blog post sharing 12 of my tablescapes from this past year. (I actually created 47 tablescapes in 2020.) It’s fun to look back at them all.

This tablescape is near and dear to my heart. I used my Grandmother’s (Nana’s) Haviland that was passed down to my mother and then to me. I cherish it all. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. This year I wanted to add black to my Valentine’s table and my Miss Blackbirdy plates were the perfect addition. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

There is nothing more Irish than Waterford Crystal. I collect the pattern Lismore and I really enjoyed using it on this tablescape. My Celtic flatware was a perfect addition as well. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

Easter is always a fun tablescape to create because there are always so many different Easter items for sale. I love Fitz and Floyd holiday collectibles and this cookie jar and salad plate are some of my tablescape collection favorites. As soon as I bought this metal wicker cake stand I started thinking about how I could use it on a tablescape. I knew it would be a Spring table and I knew I wanted to use my Bordallo Pinheiro geranium leaf plates too so that dictated what else was going on this tablescape. This starfish tablescape was one of my most popular tablescapes this year and it continues to get many comments and likes when I post it on various Facebook pages. It was one of my favorites this year. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

I love decorating for 4th of July, for years our family room was decorated with a patriotic Americana theme. I think this table is my favorite 4th of July table so far. I adore the tablecloth and the flag stand! You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

This tablescape was a repeat of a tablescape that I had done the year before with some changes. I love gingham and when I found this gingham plate set I knew I had to have them and they would be perfect for a picnic tablescape. This cornucopia cookie jar and the salad plates are more Fitz and Floyd creations from my tablescape collection. This was a perfect tablescape for Fall. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

Along with the Starfish tablescape this table was my favorite for this year I think. I love all the different black and orange combinations and how they work together. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

Sometimes I create a tablescape and after it is done I am not crazy about it. This was one of those tables. The funny thing is, it often turns out to be one that people really like! People really liked this Acorn theme, I think because it is unusual. This one has grown on me since I did it though. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

I tend to create tablescapes that are mostly theme based and somewhat whimsical and this Rudolph table is no exception. Many people thought it would be a good Christmas Childrens’ table but adults loved it as well. You can see more photos and read all about everything on this table here.

Poinsettias on the Christmas Tablescape

This tablescape started out as one theme, then changed to another theme, and finally ended up here. (The other two themes will be coming soon.) My mother loved poinsettias and when I see them I always think of her. I did a poinsettia themed Christmas tablescape with a different look five years ago and I will repeat that one next Christmas because the photos were too dark and I wasn’t blogging then. I love combining red and green at Christmas time. The green tablecloth came from Amazon recently. I added my green Circle Depression Glass cream and sugar and salt and pepper to this photo to balance things out a bit better.

I have had these red poinsettia salad plates for several years. Not sure where they came from but it was probably Ebay. They were made by Andrea by Sadek. I love the color and detail on these plates and the way they pop against the green dinner plate.

I added my green Shamrock Fiesta dinner plate to this table setting. This is one of my favorite green plates, I just love the bright green color.

These are new to me red chargers that I just bought online. They are resin and light weight. I saw them online on Instagram on the vintagejunktionla page. She has a 30,000 square foot warehouse full of antiques and collectibles in Los Angeles and she ships! The minute we can safely shop, I am there! I like the design around the rim.

This flatware was made by D & D Inox in Italy and the pattern was called Roma. I bought them at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale a few years ago. There are similar patterns available online now. I really like the marbleized design on the handles. This flatware set is seeing a lot of action on my tablescapes right now!

I’ve had these flannel napkins for years, I love this colorful plaid. They probably came from Pier 1 or HomeGoods. The poinsettia napkin rings were made by Lenox and I bought them on Ebay several years ago.

I can’t remember where I bought these poinsettia place card holders. I know it was online somewhere.

I used these same goblets on last week’s Rudolph tablescape, you can see them on that table here. The green glass goblets come from The Vermont Country Store online. They are made by Mosser in the U.S. and the pattern is Georgia. They are really heavy glass and very good quality. I have bought a few at a time over the years. I also have them in cobalt blue. I used my red Waterford Marquis Brookside goblets for this table setting. I bought them at HomeGoods several years ago.

I seldom use real flowers on my tablescapes but this centerpiece has real poinsettias. They are sitting in a red and green handblown Blenko Monticello Poinsettia Vase from Monticello Shop online, an early Christmas present from Hubby. The vase is sitting on one of my vintage poinsettia Christmas hankies.

I clearly needed to snip some threads off! Lol!

The vase is more true red than this photo shows.

There is something about red and green that makes everything look so Christmassy!

Rudolph on the Christmas Tablescape

I had been thinking about trying to create a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer tablescape for a while. I decided to try and find a Rudolph centerpiece and if I could find one, I would then look for everything else. I found the centerpiece fairly quickly and the tablescape was on its way. I bought the green tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago. I wanted a Christmassy green color and this one was perfect.

I found these Rudolph salad plates on Ebay and I bought them one at a time a a few years ago as I saw them. They were made by New Seasons and the plate was illustrated by Sue DiCicco. I love this version of Rudolph. I was trying to figure out what other colors should be on the table and I was fixated on the blue background color on this plate but I wanted the table to be Christmas colors and more blue just wasn’t working for me with the centerpiece colors. I was talking to my daughter about it and she suggested a green tablecloth and a red charger and that worked perfectly.

I added my green Shamrock Fiesta dinner plate to the plate stack. This is one of my favorite green plates, I just love the bright green color.

I haven’t used this red charger much and when Hubby was pulling things for this table for me he brought this one in instead of the one I have used several times and I decided to use this one instead. The pattern was Ruby Berry and Thread and they were made by Juliska. Several years ago I bought these chargers a few at a time over several months from various places online until I had the number I needed. I like the simple design on the rim and it is a bit larger than some of the chargers I have.

These plastic Rudolph napkin rings are actually Christmas ornaments that I found online at Target a few years ago. An ornament napkin ring would be a fun party favor for your dinner guests. The Christmas napkins probably came from HomeGoods, they were designed and signed by Vera. Vera Neumann designed many fabrics for home use for many years in the 1960’s and 1970’s and her work is being reproduced now. Some people collect her older designs.

I love these Rudolph place card holders! They were made by a British company, Ginger Ray. I bought them online somewhere a few years ago but I can’t find the order so I am not sure where I found them.

Hubby and I were there and I suddenly saw a few and quickly found twelve and bought them all! I buy dishes in sets of 12 usually since there are 11 of us now when we are all together. If you read the tablescapes section on my blog you have seen this red goblet on several tablescapes.

I found this Rudolph cookie jar at Mercari online. He has such a sweet face! He’s called Rudolph and the Island of Misfit Toys and the design was copyrighted by The Rudolph Company in 2001. Rudolph is sitting on a red Rhodes stoneware drink dispenser stand from Pottery Barn. I bought these stands in a few colors several years ago to use when I need to add height to a centerpiece. Under the stand is one of my vintage Christmas hankies with Santa and his reindeer. This is a smaller hankie, probably made in the 1940’s or 1950’s, and they were usually made for children. About 30 years ago I started collecting holiday hankies after I found one in my mother’s things and I have a few hundred of them. They were a dollar or two and something fun to look for on a mom’s day out at antique malls because you didn’t see them that often and they don’t take up any space. Then Ebay arrived and suddenly there were hundreds of them right there and the demand for them raised the prices considerably so I stopped collecting them. Some of the signed and special design hankies can sell for over $50 each now, crazy!

I added my two sets of scarlet Fiesta salt and peppers to fill the table space a bit. They remind my of Rudolph’s red nose!

I have always had a soft spot for Rudolph. I’m glad he ended up on a tablescape this season!
