A Cornucopia Tablescape

This Cornucopia tablescape is a tablescape that could be set in September, October or November. It could easily be set as a Thanksgiving tablescape. I bought the beige tablecloth on Amazon a few years ago. If you are looking for a simple inexpensive solid color polyester tablecloth, Amazon is a good place to look. Just be sure and read the reviews before you purchase. I found the sage green crochet doily placemats at Bed, Bath, & Beyond several years ago. I wish they had come in other colors too because I really like the ruffled edge and the way they set off whatever is on top of them. Some say that you shouldn’t use a placemat with a tablecloth but I do it anyway sometimes!

I have had these Fitz and Floyd salad plates for several years. I bought them over a few years a few at a time on Ebay. The pattern was called Autumn Bounty and they were made between 1996 and 1999. I love all the detail, the fruit, the vegetables, the flowers and the wicker design in the center. For years every Fall I pulled them out and tried to create a tablescape around them with no luck. Finally this year we pulled them out again and tried to find a dinner plate and charger that would work with them. After trying orange, yellow, various greens and brown dinner plates that just didn’t look right to me I finally realized that since the center was cream, a cream dinner plate might work. And so it did.

I bought these heavy melamine cream dinner plates at HomeGoods a few years ago in the summer time. I also bought the same plate in a deep turquoise color. They were made by IL Mulino New York. In the past few years HomeGoods has had melamine dinnerware in the spring and summer in lots of different patterns for spring and summer dining and some of them can be used year round.

I bought these iced glass sage green chargers at Pier 1 several years ago after I saw them on another blog. I love using them in the spring and fall. I knew they would work with this salad plate and dinner plate.

I am using my Madeline Green flatware on this table, I bought the set at World Market several years ago. I really like the frosted design on the handles. It is one of my most used flatware sets. If you are developing a tablescaping collection be sure to find some flatware in a green color like this set. You will use it often!

I have had these plaid napkins for a long time, they probably came from HomeGoods or Pier 1 several years ago. I love using them on Fall tablescapes. They sometimes can add just the right pzazz to a table with a solid color tablecoth. The plastic pumpkin napkin rings came from Ebay a few years ago.

With the large pumpkin on the salad plate I knew I had to use these pumpkin place card holders. They came from Crate and Barrel a few years ago.

I bought the green acrylic goblet on the left a few years ago online at Home Depot. Home Depot sells tablescaping items. They were made by Certified International. I have had the green acrylic goblet on the right since I started tablescaping eight years ago. I bought them at Pier 1.

This cornucopia cookie jar was made by Fitz and Floyd and the pattern was called Harvest. I had been looking for a cornucopia to use as a centerpiece for awhile and I found this one on Amazon a few years ago. We have a four foot wide bar between the kitchen and the family room and I often set a seasonal cookie jar or soup tureen in the center of the bar with a few other decorations to enjoy during the different seasons. I have different ones for different seasons. In this photo you can see the small glass pumpkins scatter that I added for additional color on the tablescape. I can’t remember where I bought them, I have had them for several years.

I wanted to create some height on the table so I added these green glass candlesticks that I bought on Ebay a few years ago with some orange candles from Amazon. I am not sure if the candlesticks are vintage or not, they are unmarked. I have gathered candle holders of various shapes and sizes over the years since I started tablescaping. From time to time I love searching Ebay for vintage candlesticks, napkin rings, and place card holders. I have found some unusual ones there. I often buy candles on Amazon when I need them.

I’m really glad that I was finally able to use these salad plates on a tablescape!

A Falling Leaves Tablescape

This tablescape is a repeat of one that I did a few years ago and also a few years before that but I have made a few changes to it. The falling leaves tablecloth came from HomeGoods several years ago. I have the matching napkins but I decided not to use them on this table setting because the tablecloth is busy.

The place settings are three different colors, what Pier 1 called clove, ginger, and paprika, the same colors as the leaves in the tablecloth. I bought the plates and leaf shaped bowls at different times from different stores but they matched each other perfectly. The dinner and salad plates came from Pier 1 several years ago and they were part of their Spice Route collection. I really like the beaded design around the rim and I use the green dinner plate often in the spring and summer. The leaf shaped bowls came from Sur la Table a few years ago.

I bought the brown glass spiral chargers online on Amazon several years ago. They were called Chargeit and were made by Jay Brown. I have had them for several years and I often use them in my Fall tablescapes.

This amber flatware set was made by D & D Inox in Italy. I bought it online at Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales during a major sale several years ago. You can read my blog post about what to consider when you are buying flatware here.

The solid color napkins that match the plates came from World Market several years ago. The tablecloth and leaf napkins came from HomeGoods several years ago. The brown goblet on the left was made by Lenox between 1966 and 1985. It was called Antique Brown. The sage green goblet on the right was made by Noritake between 1970 and 1985 and it was called Perspective Green. I bought them both on Ebay. I have the Perspective goblet in cobalt blue and bright yellow also and they came from Ebay as well. I was looking for a long wooden box that I could use as a centerpiece and when I found one that I liked on Etsy the cost for shipping it was ridiculous so I showed the photo to Hubby and he built this one for me a few years ago. He also built another one that is a bit larger too. I filled it with faux pumpkins and gourds and leaves that I have collected over the years and added two brown candles. When I started tablescaping I bought lots of candles in all different colors and sizes so I would have them when I needed them. I usually find them on Amazon or at HomeGoods.

I asked Hubby to match the finish on the wooden box with my hutch and I think he did a great job!

In Southern California we only have a few trees that change color but this tablescape really reminds me of Fall.

A Happy Halloween Tablescape

This tablescape is a remake of a Halloween tablescape that I did in 2013 and then again in 2014. It was when I was just starting to tablescape and I didn’t understand the concept of less is more and white space. In the beginning, if it was a Halloween table, I put tons of Halloween items on the table, you really couldn’t see the forest for the trees. And to add insult to injury, the tablecloth I chose for that table was way too busy for this plate stack. I have been wanting to redo this table for years because I did like the plate stack and finally this year I got it done with Hubby’s help. I bought the orange tablecloth several years ago and it was probably from HomeGoods. The black place mats came from Pier 1 several years ago. The two plastic houndstooth patterned square place mats in the center came from Bed, Bath & Beyond several years ago. I like the way they play off the napkins and the black and white plates.

I bought these small Halloween plates several years ago, I can’t remember where but it may have been Ebay. They were made by Omniware and there were four different designs in the set.

I have always liked them because they have such a classic Halloween style.

These salad plates were made by 222 Fifth and the pattern was called Wiccan Lace. I bought them several years ago probably on Ebay. I really like all the Halloween elements that are shown all over the plate.

I bought these plastic orange dinner plates several years ago online at Dillards.com and they were called Summer Oasis Zoie Vintage Dinner Plate. I really like the ruffled lip and rim and I love the fact that they are a true orange color. They are a larger size and could probably be used as a charger too. They are perfect for a Halloween table setting.

This black and white charger is called Miss Blackbirdy, you can see the black bird in the center of the plate. The creator was a Dutch fashion designer and artist, Merel Boars. I am not sure that they are being produced now but you can still find them for sale online on the secondary market I think. The first time I saw them I thought they were amazing and I bought a few pieces at a time over the years until I had sets of various plate sizes. There is also a similar plate but a different design with black on white. I used them on a Valentine’s Day tablescape, you can see it here. The designs on this plate are so unique and there is so much detail, it is really a work of art! I bought them online somewhere but I can’t remember where.

This black flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years and it came from Overstock.com. If you read my blog you saw this flatware on another tablescape also. This is my fourth and final Halloween tablescape this Halloween season and it is the third time that I have used this black flatware.

I bought these black and white print napkins online several years ago but I can’t remember where, it might have been Crate and Barrel. They were made by Waverly. I like the way the design plays with the black and white plate designs. The black marble napkin rings came from Pier 1 right before they closed their stores and then reopened online.

I am using my black house place card holders again on this tablescape. I bought them on Ebay several years ago. At that time they had them at Target, and Hearth and Hand with Magnolia.

These orange goblets were some of the first goblets I bought several years ago, I think I bought them at Ross or T.J. Maxx. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I have this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer Dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this design in bright colors. The goblet with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a few years ago.

The black and white pumpkin centerpiece came from Grandin Road online a few years ago. The stem was gold but Hubby painted it black for me. I have the pumpkin sitting on a small black glass cake stand to add a bit of height. When I started tablescaping, for a few years, I bought several cake stands of various sizes to use with centerpieces.

I can’t remember where I bought the salt and pepper sets but it was probably online somewhere.

I really like how the black and white elements on the table interact with each other and with the orange elements on this table setting.

A Black and Orange Halloween Tablescape

I posted this Halloween tablescape five years ago and I decided to post it again because it is one of my favorites. Another tablescape that Hubby did the grunt work for. I tell him what to pull from the shelves in the garage and boom, it’s done! He moves fast! I have to admit I really love the traditional black and orange Halloween colors on this tablescape, they really pop. The design is a bit busy but sometimes I just like mixing patterns and Halloween designs are busy anyway. If you compare this table to another Halloween tablescapes that I created with the same jack o lantern salad plate here you can see a few of the same elements on both tablescapes but many elements are different. I bought this black and orange buffalo print tablecloth at Bed, Bath & Beyond online several years ago. The black placemats in the center came from Pier 1 several years ago.

I bought this jack o’ lantern salad plate at Pottery Barn several years ago. I had been looking for a simple jack o’ lantern plate for a couple of years and was so happy to find this one. You can see it on one another Halloween tablescape here.

We found these black glass plates somewhere in Virginia while we were visiting our son and his family several years ago. They were made by Luminarc France. They are salad or tidbit plates.

These pumpkin colored dinner plates came from Pier 1 right before our local store closed. The pattern was called Radius Pumpkin. I really like the lip design.

This black glass Starburst charger is called Charge It and was made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. A black charger with a simple design is a good starter charger plate if you are thinking about starting a tablescaping hobby.

This black flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years and it came from Overstock.com. These colorful pumpkins that I am using as a centerpiece came from Grandin Road online a few years ago. They came with gold stems but the gold didn’t work for me so Hubby painted them black. I have a few others with the same colors but other patterns and then some that are black and white. They have similar ones for sale every year, the patterns just change. I bought a couple every year for a few years. Some often sit on the fireplace hearth at Halloween time.

It’s interesting to compare this tablescape with my other Halloween Tablescapes. They show how changing some of the elements on a table can create a completely different tablescape.
