A Happy Halloween Tablescape

This tablescape is a remake of a Halloween tablescape that I did in 2013 and then again in 2014. It was when I was just starting to tablescape and I didn’t understand the concept of less is more and white space. In the beginning, if it was a Halloween table, I put tons of Halloween items on the table, you really couldn’t see the forest for the trees. And to add insult to injury, the tablecloth I chose for that table was way too busy for this plate stack. I have been wanting to redo this table for years because I did like the plate stack and finally this year I got it done with Hubby’s help. I bought the orange tablecloth several years ago and it was probably from HomeGoods. The black place mats came from Pier 1 several years ago. The two plastic houndstooth patterned square place mats in the center came from Bed, Bath & Beyond several years ago. I like the way they play off the napkins and the black and white plates.

I bought these small Halloween plates several years ago, I can’t remember where but it may have been Ebay. They were made by Omniware and there were four different designs in the set.

I have always liked them because they have such a classic Halloween style.

These salad plates were made by 222 Fifth and the pattern was called Wiccan Lace. I bought them several years ago probably on Ebay. I really like all the Halloween elements that are shown all over the plate.

I bought these plastic orange dinner plates several years ago online at Dillards.com and they were called Summer Oasis Zoie Vintage Dinner Plate. I really like the ruffled lip and rim and I love the fact that they are a true orange color. They are a larger size and could probably be used as a charger too. They are perfect for a Halloween table setting.

This black and white charger is called Miss Blackbirdy, you can see the black bird in the center of the plate. The creator was a Dutch fashion designer and artist, Merel Boars. I am not sure that they are being produced now but you can still find them for sale online on the secondary market I think. The first time I saw them I thought they were amazing and I bought a few pieces at a time over the years until I had sets of various plate sizes. There is also a similar plate but a different design with black on white. I used them on a Valentine’s Day tablescape, you can see it here. The designs on this plate are so unique and there is so much detail, it is really a work of art! I bought them online somewhere but I can’t remember where.

This black flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years and it came from Overstock.com. If you read my blog you saw this flatware on another tablescape also. This is my fourth and final Halloween tablescape this Halloween season and it is the third time that I have used this black flatware.

I bought these black and white print napkins online several years ago but I can’t remember where, it might have been Crate and Barrel. They were made by Waverly. I like the way the design plays with the black and white plate designs. The black marble napkin rings came from Pier 1 right before they closed their stores and then reopened online.

I am using my black house place card holders again on this tablescape. I bought them on Ebay several years ago. At that time they had them at Target, and Hearth and Hand with Magnolia.

These orange goblets were some of the first goblets I bought several years ago, I think I bought them at Ross or T.J. Maxx. I remember thinking that I would probably not use them very much but I have this time of year. Just fyi, in the spring and summer Dollar stores often sell plastic goblets like this design in bright colors. The goblet with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a few years ago.

The black and white pumpkin centerpiece came from Grandin Road online a few years ago. The stem was gold but Hubby painted it black for me. I have the pumpkin sitting on a small black glass cake stand to add a bit of height. When I started tablescaping, for a few years, I bought several cake stands of various sizes to use with centerpieces.

I can’t remember where I bought the salt and pepper sets but it was probably online somewhere.

I really like how the black and white elements on the table interact with each other and with the orange elements on this table setting.

A Black and Orange Halloween Tablescape

I posted this Halloween tablescape five years ago and I decided to post it again because it is one of my favorites. Another tablescape that Hubby did the grunt work for. I tell him what to pull from the shelves in the garage and boom, it’s done! He moves fast! I have to admit I really love the traditional black and orange Halloween colors on this tablescape, they really pop. The design is a bit busy but sometimes I just like mixing patterns and Halloween designs are busy anyway. If you compare this table to another Halloween tablescapes that I created with the same jack o lantern salad plate here you can see a few of the same elements on both tablescapes but many elements are different. I bought this black and orange buffalo print tablecloth at Bed, Bath & Beyond online several years ago. The black placemats in the center came from Pier 1 several years ago.

I bought this jack o’ lantern salad plate at Pottery Barn several years ago. I had been looking for a simple jack o’ lantern plate for a couple of years and was so happy to find this one. You can see it on one another Halloween tablescape here.

We found these black glass plates somewhere in Virginia while we were visiting our son and his family several years ago. They were made by Luminarc France. They are salad or tidbit plates.

These pumpkin colored dinner plates came from Pier 1 right before our local store closed. The pattern was called Radius Pumpkin. I really like the lip design.

This black glass Starburst charger is called Charge It and was made by Jay. I bought them several years ago on Amazon. They are heavy glass and work well with many different color schemes. A black charger with a simple design is a good starter charger plate if you are thinking about starting a tablescaping hobby.

This black flatware is Ginkgo International LePrix. I have had this set for years and it came from Overstock.com. I bought the black cotton napkins at World Market online a few years ago. I have some black polyester napkins but I really like cotton napkins the best. I have bought several sets of solid color napkins at World Market over the years. The orange and black argyle pattern napkins came from Etsy a few years ago. Just realized that the camera made the white place card look blue. Weird! I love these little pumpkin place card holders. I have had them for a while. They came from Crate and Barrel several years ago. To read about the What, Where and When of place card holders, please click here.

These colorful pumpkins that I am using as a centerpiece came from Grandin Road online a few years ago. They came with gold stems but the gold didn’t work for me so Hubby painted them black. I have a few others with the same colors but other patterns and then some that are black and white. They have similar ones for sale every year, the patterns just change. I bought a couple every year for a few years. Some often sit on the fireplace hearth at Halloween time.

It’s interesting to compare this tablescape with my other Halloween Tablescapes. They show how changing some of the elements on a table can create a completely different tablescape.

A Halloween Haunted House Tablescape

Another Halloween tablescape that Hubby did the grunt work for after I told him where to find things. I have tablescapes that I love and tablescapes that I like and this one is definitely in the like column although the bright colors do bring some cheer to our days. I bought the orange tablecloth several years ago and it was probably from HomeGoods. The lime green placemats came from Pier 1, I have had them for several years. I had trouble taking photos today, I did it quickly, and it was overcast for a while so they are darker than they should be.

I looked all over for plates with a haunted house on them for a haunted house tablescape but every one I found wasn’t quite what I wanted. I finally found these on Ebay a few years ago and just gave up and bought them because I knew I had the rest of the tablescape pieces that would work with them.

This dinner plate was made by Fiesta and the color is lemongrass. It was one of the first dinner plates that I bought when I started tablescaping, it is such a bright and cheerful color. I use this color on tablescapes more than I thought I would.

I doubled up on chargers on this plate stack. I really love this black square melamine charger. I added it to the table to repeat the shape of the houses. The chargers were made by Elite Global Solutions and I bought them online at Wayfair earlier a few years ago.

Someone on Etsy made the black metal haunted house napkin rings for me. They also made the flying witch napkin rings on last week’s tablescape. I love metal napkin rings because they won’t break and they will last for a long time.

I bought the bright green glass goblets at Pier 1 several years ago. I really like the spiral design and the height of these goblets and I use them several times a year. I think I bought the orange glass goblets at Ross or T.J. Maxx. They were some of the first goblets I bought several years ago.

These black metal haunted houses were sold by Pottery Barn a few years ago and they sold out quickly. I ended up buying them on Ebay. They are candle holders.

Lime green, black, and orange, it’s an interesting color combination for a Halloween table.

Best Witches! A Halloween Tablescape

So this was a Halloween tablescape that I created several years ago in a slightly different version but I only had a few photos of it. I decide to redo this one with a few changes and I showed Hubby the photos and he gathered the elements from all around the house with me telling him where (I hoped) everything was. He is such a treasure! You wouldn’t have seen this one without his efforts! (I will still continue the Tablescaping How-To series, Tablescaping 101, with Part 3 about dinner plates, and it will be posted sometime in the next week probably.) I bought the purple tablecloth on Amazon and the black and white placemats came from Pier 1 several years ago.

I looked and looked for months for a plate with a witch on it but I wanted black and white only, no orange. I found lots of witch plates but none of them were just black and white. I finally found these plates on Ebay a few years ago, Crate and Barrel sold them originally.

The black salad plate is by 10 Strawberry Street, I think it came from HomeGoods.

The next plate down in the plate stack, this white plate, was made for spring and summer tables but the butterfly design is hidden on this plate stack. I chose it for this table because of the scalloped rim. It is by Lenox and is called Butterfly Meadow Cloud. I think I found them at HomeGoods.

The dinner plate is made by Fiesta in purple, it is actually lighter in color than the photo shows. When I started tablescaping I bought Fiesta dinner plates in a few basic colors and I am really glad now that I did. I often use them when I want a basic dinner plate in a basic color.

The purple glass chargers are Bormioli Rocco Inca in purple and I bought them on sale on Amazon. I have a few other colors of this charger, it is really nice heavy glass.

The silverware is Zaffiro Flatware, I think I got it on sale at Neiman Marcus several years ago. Over the years I bought this pattern in six different colors because I love the way it looks.

I got the napkins on Etsy as well as the witch napkin rings. I saw a flying witch design on a metal napkin holder that I liked and I asked if they could make napkin rings, I really love the way they turned out.

I bought the black house place card holders on Ebay a few years ago. At that time they had them at Target, and Hearth and Hand with Magnolia. I included a bit of Halloween scatter on the table for added interest.

I found the purple goblets at HomeGoods a few years ago. I was able to get six at one store and six at another store. I am not sure who made them. The goblet with the black bowl and clear stem was made by Classic Touch and is called V-Shaped Water Glass, Black With Clear Stem. I bought them at Houzz online a few years ago.

The black studded pumpkin came from Pier 1 aseveral years ago. I found the table runner on Etsy a few years ago. I knew this table was going to be black and white and purple and when I saw this runner, it was perfect.

The two flying witch centerpieces came from Pier 1 a few years ago. They were a distressed black and I am not a fan of distressed wood so Hubby spray painted them for me, I love the finish now. The Beware sign in the background came from Grandin Road online several years ago.
